  • i actually became a potterhead when i was 7 and didnt bother to read twilight because apparently people have made it out to be the rival series to hp (ps, i KNOW that is crap now). so about a month ago, my twihard friend and i made a deal that if she committed to reading the sorcerer's stone, i would read twilight.... and i just finished breaking dawn a few days ago..... and love the series now. im still a die-hard hp fan, but the cullens have a place in my nerdy ego now too

  • I read more complex books and twilight is meh. I love your honesty ! I still like you don't worry :)

  • First book is good, though meh(ly) written (could be better, could be worse) Second book is interesting, Bella started getting irritating, writing is meh again. Third book I enjoyed more than no.2 because of Casper, Jacob and action so <3 But Bella is still irritating and Edward's a prick (seriously what on earth is up with his father like attitude, ANNOYING :( ) The last one is just complete utter crap. Super annoying super stupid and Mary Sue characters are just shit and piss poorly written.

  • Omg and yes Nerimon's videos are HYSTERICAL.

  • My sister is like that too. She hates reading and she never reads the books I recommend. She never even got past HP 4 *sob*. But she finished the Twilight series.

I totally agree with your opinion. I read Twilight before the movies and I loved it. I acknowledge that the writing isn't very good and that it's kinda just mindless entertainment in a way but it's fun and entertaining and I like it. Also I agree that it's stupid to hate popular stuff just cause it's popular.

  • You are like my soul sister right now. This is exactly what i was thinking!!

  • The reason that Twilight is bad is because of the way that it's written; HOWEVER, that style of writing that's simple. It's good for people. Like she said - it's a gateway book. People who aren't readers, start READING. Which is awesome. With Twilight, everything you need to know is written right there on the page. You don't have to read into it. That doesn't do it for me. I like my stories with more depth, but you can't expect everyone to look at everything they read as more than just a story.

  • Also, how well something sells or how popular it is is not a necessary guarantee of its quality. There is plenty of good stuff that is popular, however, JUST because something is popular, that doesn't necessitate its quality. Ever noticed that it's the best TV shows which are constantly on the precipice of cancellation?

  • The characters in Twilight are not well-written. Bella is a character that has been created with the intention to appeal to teenage girls; without giving her much of a personality, Meyer has created her such that teenage girls can envision themselves as her. As far as I'm concerned? That is not good writing. That will never be. Now, whether you like it or not? That's your opinion. It's subjective. But that doesn't have to mean it's good characterization.

  • I feel like your telling my story.

  • Difference between Twilight and Harry Potter? Harry Potter is amazing, Twilight is anything but.

  • Wow, everything said in this video is so true (in my opinion) that it's almost scary.

  • Why does being cool matter, why does what's popular matter? I liked the book, I actually stopped reading after New Moon (she got a tad bit too whinny, and when I heard she got preggers I was upset, that makes no sense...) But I also like John Greens Books. I also like books like Wuthering Heights and I read Shakespeare plays for fun. Am I not a nerd? I am a nerd, and I like the book Twilight. People need to grow up and understand, you like what you like. (I also find Alex Day hilarious)

  • I started reading the book twilight in 2006 before they were going to make it into a movie. My friend and I read it together. I loved it. I also read in the perspective of Bella. There is a lot wrong with the book, but you don't see it right away. There is a lot wrong with a lot of popular things. But I loved the characters and I loved how intense it got. Very strong passion in the story. People get so caught up in things that don't matter, like what to like or not like because it's cool.

  • @noodle4pancakes yeah yeah like its cool that Stephanie Mayers ruined the vampire/werewolf legacy with her boring romance story and her stalking sparklehead vampire boy, like no real girl wouldn't get up and call the police if she woke up and saw a glittering man her room watching her and like no real girl would refuse to be carried up a tree with the bugs and let her boyfriend suck her pussy, suck me a winner Eddy, what type of girl wouldn't want to jump off a cliff to see her boyfriends face

  • @bfsd150 Whether I am cool or not now will not matter in 15 years, if that matters to you then that's fine. I happen to like Dracula and other classical vampire werewolf stories but if you really want to pick on how Mayers portrays vampires I think you need to go all the way back to Buffy first. Writers/movie producers are putting there own twists on stories all the time now. The book isn't logical, lots of things aren't. I'm sorry you have to pick on things to be happy.

  • @noodle4pancakes Well I don't know you so it doesn't matter to me. What does Mayers and Twilight got to do with Buffy. Buffy doesn't sparkle Edward does and Buffy slays vampires that's why they call her the vampire slayer. All Edward does is have sex with his human girlfriend. The vampires in Twilight are not like Buffy or vampires in Buffy and don't be sorry cause I didn't pick up on it to be happy. I picked on it because I had something sarcastic to say about it. ahahah

  • @noodle4pancakes and these things don't matter? really? wow, and kids are allowed to read these books or watch the movies. i mean i realize the books are written like a child but still.

  • I agree that's exactly what happened to me, I started to read after I read twilight lol

  • i agree with everything you said twilight isnt the best but i still love it and is why i started reading but i dont really tell people i like it any more because the hate i get

  • Ya but some twilight fans can be rude by being mean to people who don't like it .

  • Okay, here is what I have to say about Twilight. I think, if you look up Twilight videos and see the comments, the haters are not there. It's usually the obsessed, crazed, demanding fans that raid everything having to do with Twilight. And honestly, literature isn't meant to be a thing that everyone can read, which is pretty much what Twilight is.

I do understand the point about how it is a starter book. That's what I call them. But there is no denying that Twilight has an unfinished plot.

  • @MissVictoriaSongs Twilight is a starter book. you know its funny you should say that because there's a certain video i saw here on Youtube called "why Twilight is better than Harry Potter." and a few things it says on there is "Twilight is for mature people, Harry Potter is for kids." thats sort of funny because its actually the other way around. i'm talking about the reading difficulty of the books.

  • @bfsd150 Haha yeah that is funny and ironic.

  • polandbananasBOOKS almost every time i make true fact about why twilight sucks. a twilight fan gets defensive and calls me a name because they don't have any good reason why twilight is the best. so instead they gotta be mean. but if you expect to get respect then you have to give it.

  • polandbananasBOOKS so your telling all the people who don't like twilight to stop being mean to people who do like twilight, uh? but you know the first comment i posted which i expressed my opinion about why i think twilight sucks. you know what response i got from a twilight lover? "ur fuckin stupid. twilight is the best series ever. go get a life u fuckin hatr". so i asked what makes twilight so great? and i got insulted again. so i think its the twilight lovers who need to shut their mouth

  • I don't really care for Twilight, but I don't get all mad at people who do like it unless they're rude to people who don't like it.

Personally I like Artemis Fowl best out of the YA book series that are semi-popular at the moment. I mean, that may change since I haven't read the Hunger Games, and it's been a while since I read anything of Percy Jackson (and I didn't get past the first book, though I did enjoy it), but right now I like Artemis Fowl.

  • when i first read twilight no one had really heard of it and i really liked it and gave it to all my friends to read. at the time no one really thought anything of it. it was just a book that me and my friends liked, along with so many other books. but then it became this hugely popular phenomenon and all the people hating on it totally ruined it for me. i forgot for a long time i forgot why i liked it in the first place but your right, i should not let other ppl dictate what i enjoy reading

  • thats right, c'mon, use those fancy words you learned in the twilight books.

  • The Twilight Saga is a great series because of the romance, the innovative takes on classic creatures such as vampires and werewolves/ shapeshifters, and the emphasis on family. I enjoyed the Harry Potter Series because of a fresh angle on magic and wizards. I think young adults needs original literature so that they are encouraged and compelled to read. As a Twilight Mom and a Harry Potter fan, I enjoy both and I'm 40+ years old. Thank you for this video commentary.

  • @blondieshow15 Was this ever really a contest?

  • @Fanatic2020 vampires

  • NO, you don't understand. Well, I read twilight, yea it's a easy book, but don't forget that book aren't met to be easy but to hold some point some lesson to critic something or you know what... but what can you espect from a woman that writes without any research and zero life expirients, I'm maybe wrong about that but by the book I can't see it. But in overall it's a great book fore people that won't put in some effort to understand it.

  • @Fanatic2020 they are no even real so how do you know ?

  • @TheKiki1390 what aren't real?

  • @Fanatic2020

i love twilight ! this is what i like and no one can tell me what to like ! or tell me im an idiot for liking it...

i mean who are you to tell me what kind of taste i have in literature ?!

god some people just need to shut up...

  • @TheKiki1390 I can't tell you what you can or can't like you're right. But I sure as hell can tell you that you're an idiot for liking it. I have more writting ability in one finger than Stephen Meyer does in her whole body and I'm an engineering major.

She completely fucked up centuries of vampire lore with her first movie alone, vampires do not live with us, they are not mopy depressing teenagers. They die in the sun, they don't sparkle like a fairy. Why would they even go to school?

  • god im hearing my Exact Thoughts in this video...

  • If you like Twilight, you don't have no taste in literature, you just have a bad taste in literature.

The reason why it is a best seller is because it preys on the emotions of the stupid teenaged girls who support it sending the message that you aren't anything without a boyfriend, like you and your sister.

Did you really just compare Meyers to Rowling...

Creativity coming from Twilight...keep it to yourself.

Yeah, you're allowed to like it, but you're an idiot if you do.

  • @Fanatic2020 4 1 thing, I love Twilight, but u know what? So does half the people in my class and I'm in an advanced class, so I'm not an idiot. And I do too have a good taste in freakin literature. The Hunger Games, for example are great books n I like Twilight. I like a great book n another great book. And U KNOW WHAT? I HATE Harry Potter, but I'm not sayin u have a bad taste in literature cuz u dont and i aint callin u an idiot 4 likin Harry Potter even tho I hate it.

  • @sydniana

    1) Just because you're in an advanced class, doesn't mean you're smart. You could still be a complete idiot., and judging by your dialog and typing skills, you are.

    2) If you like Twilight you do not have good taste in literature.

    3) I never said I liked Harry Potter because I don't.

    4) Harry Potter still sends a much better message to readers than Twilight, so do most books.

  • Comment removed

  • @Fanatic2020 Seriously the more u call me an idiot, the more worked up I get. SO JUST STOP! I'm not gonna fight this freakin battle nymore,k? I do have one or two last things to say, tho.K, just cuz I can't type, don't mean I'm n idiot n jus cuz i use bad grammar on here, don't mean I don't use good grammar in the real world, so plz. And also, I've read good books and liked them and I've also read Twilight n liked it. It aint my fave, The Hunger Games r. so seriously end o convo. seriously.

  • @sydniana My God you really are a total idiot. "don't mean I don't use good grammar in the real world so plz."

If you like Twilight, you have horrible taste in literature, it doesn't matter what else you like, it is one of the worst books ever written.

  • @Fanatic2020 Please just stop. I did get all worked up and over reacted, but now I'm just frustrated and if you take pride in that, fine. It just makes you kind of mean. I am an idiot sometimes, but you shouldn't call me that. I'm not going to call you an idiot and I'm not going to say any more. I can like what I want and so can you. Think what you like, I know I have taste in literature and I know I like Twilight, so just stop it, please. This probably goes for all the people that you offended.

  • @sydniana If you are an idiot, you should be called an idiot, idiot.

You can like what you want to like, I've said that before. But you're an idiot with horrible taste in literature if you like twilight.

Oh you speak for all people? What an arrogant bitch...

  • @Fanatic2020 I am done with the fighting. This was an unreasonably stupid argument. If you are not done, I am sorry to say that I am done arguing. I am sorry for being conceited and arrogant, because I know that sometimes I can be. I am sorry for over reacting on my 1st and 2nd comment, but I'd like to end this argument here and now. So please, hit me with your best shot. You'll never find the spot that hurts me. You are being rude and so was I. You did cross the line at callin me a b*****, tho.

  • @sydniana I already found those spots in your first two comments, moron lol.

  • @Fanatic2020 So are we good, or, you know, still, like, arguing?

  • @sydniana I feel like I've shown the stupidity of Twilight fans enough, sure, we're okay.

  • @Fanatic2020 Okay. I'll message you or something later. Got to go.

  • I completely agree. I read the whole Twilight series, thought it was just okay. Then I moved on with my life, I didn't hate on anyone with a different opinion than me. I don't see the point on the Harry Potter vs. Twilight rivalry. There are two completely different books, there is no point in comparing them. As far as reading skill level goes, who cares? Just because someone enjoys Charles Dickens' books does not make them superior to me. Same with Twilight and any other book.

  • Your story is literally exactaly the same as mine i never read before twlight and now im finished with the hunger games and wanting more! Seriously...dont hate on the twi-hards! or whatever other names the press comes up for the hunger games fans..mabye mockingjays? Maybe? I dont know but i love twlight series and im proud I read books that big with like 900 pages so yea...

  • The only character relatable is Bella, because how hard is it to mope around and lead guys on and reject them for your sparkly faggot friends.

  • its written for first time readers. that's why it's so easy to read. i'm not making fun, but that's the honest truth.

  • 5. I absolutely love Alex reads twilight. It's hilarious. Like i said I liked some things in the series but I love watching people rant and rag on it but I hate seeing people bash the fans. People can like whatever they like and shouldn't be insulted for it. This is America. I will admit I joke about the die hard twilight fans who go insane when someone says they don't like the series but I don't insult the whole fandom.

  • 4. I also agree that twilight is a gateway book or series. I didn't much read before twilight. I read a book here or there but since the twilight saga I've read so many books and I'm in the middle of the hunger games. I myself am not a huge twilight fan. I hated Breaking Dawn but I liked some things in the series.

  • 3. I think it's awesome that you think it's simply written. So many girls attack me when I tell them it's not the best written literature out there.

  • 2. I love that your one of the few girls who says that you can love or hate twilight if it's your preference and not try to cram it down peoples throats and you admit you put yourself in the book.

  • Ok.5 things:

    1. Your obviously a nerd I don't know why anyone would say your not just cause you like twilight. I totally agree you can be a nerd who likes Harry potter and twilight.

  • I likes Twilight, and then New Moon was good, but still a step down. Eclipse was an even bigger step down...And then came Breaking Dawn, which is the worst book ever written.

  • i use to love twilight until everyone started becoming obsessed over it. twilight got me to go into other vampire books, i love them now. i hate robert pattison in twilight.. thats probably why i hate it now

  • Also I read Twilight the same way u did and read others books the same way.

I wish my sisters read books like I did.

I made my sister read it and she read it to page 10 which I think was a good thing since she hardly reads books at all.

  • Love the books but I think the movies could have been better.

  • Stephenie meyer is not the biggest author since jk rowling she's the worst

  • twilight was ok, new moon i was so pissed at her depression and the lengths she would take 2 c edward, jacob was the best part of NM (bringing the bikes 2 her house), eclipse was ok the battle, also showing edward is crazy (messes with her truck so she can't c jacob OBSESSED MUCH?) he doesn't trust her AT ALL! a normal person would've took that as a threat and dump the bastard!

  • NO! Stephenie Meyer isn't one of the biggest authors. She sucks dick! And back to reality. You are NOT Bella

  • i respect your views but i hate twilight im a very big harry potter fan.i dont judge you for liking twilight but how can you read a book when the main character is suchabitch $ realy annoying.she disgraces teenages all over the world.the plot was kinda good minus the bits where she acts like a baby.i dont hate stephenie meyer but the things i heard about her makes me dislike herVERY much she acts like her books are the best and popular book like stephen king she talks about how she hates them

  • 3 guys are in a cafe,

one says: I've got the smallest arm of the world!

another says: I've got the smallest head of the world!

last one says: I'm the worst writer of the world!

The 3 guys go to Guinness World Records.

First one goes first and returns happy: I've really got the smallest arm in the world!

Second returns happy too: I've really got the smallest head of the world!

The last one returns angry and screams: WHO THE FUCK IS STEPHANIE MEYER!?

  • i hate twilight, I don't care if you like twilight its up to you, although it annoys me when people obsess over it, I have read the books and seen like 2 of the movies, and I didn't like them, I just didn't enjoy it thats all really.

  • I love this video because this is exactly how felt after reading Twilight it made want to read to more it took me a week to read Twilight and I'm slow reader.

  • I hate Twilight. I love Harry potter.. Starting to read the hunger games soon.

Anyway, I love your Hair XD You are such a cutie<3

  • @vijeta100 the hunger games is the best book in the universe

  • @musicrzz7373 omg I started reading it today :D Its so amazing already. Glad i already bought the other two books.

  • Comment removed

  • the difference between harry potter and twilight is that the harry potter series is timeless; there are so many themes and symbols and ideas and /proper messages/ in those books. not only that, but the writing is superb and the author is amazing. you don't get the feeling that the books were /dumbed down for people/ to read like you do with twilight. as far as i'm concerned, twilight is an embarrassment to humankind.

  • @blondieshow15 obvs. i never said it didnt lol

  • I was the same, after reading Twilight I was actively seeking out new YA books and authors. I had read Harry Potter way before any mention of sparkling vampires, I had enjoyed the story and the characters immensely but I felt like I HAD to read them. Being from Surrey and all. I was pretty exhausted after The Deathly Hallows so probably didn't pick up a book again till Twilight. And since then I have been able to define what kind of genres I like and just gain a love of reading, so thank you SM.

  • Christine, u have explained my life. all the haters hate TWI-HARDS more than the actual books and movies!! i love you 4 doing this, loooove you!

  • @MsBridgeMusic we don't actually hate the Twihards as much as we do the books and movies, you guys just through yourselves in the way of our comments and assume they're about you. I don't hate any of my friends because they like Twilight, I don't like them any less. It's just literature I would define as bad and they would say the opposite.

  • @blackwolf9619 lol it's okay. when i said it i directed it 2 the people who HAVE hated on the fans. but if u haven't done that i completely understand your choice & i respect you for not hating on the fans. :)

  • I agree with you, I read all the books twice but the second time I didn't enjoy them as much as the first time. I enjoy the movies and i consider myself a fan and it got me back to reading again. I used to love to read but and one point I sort of stopped and because of twilight I'm reading a lot of books again and I love it :D I consider myself a nerd but not just because I'm a twilight fan but I'm aslo a huge sci fi nerd i think the haters don't know what there talking about and just wanna mock

  • I really agree with your opinions here. I was into reading before I read the Twilight Saga, but apart from Harry Potter, they were the only books I'd really found myself sucked in to. I'm a few years older now...I've read more and my tastes have grown up and evolved, so I can appreciate the Twilight Saga, but also enjoy all the other books they've encouraged me to read since. Love your videos xxx

  • I don't like Twilight probably because, like you, I read it when it wasn't popular so there wasn't any Robert Pattinson to prove my imagination wrong, but my "Edward Cullen" had 80s styled black hair and tattoos. Maybe I'm weird but I just sort of skipped over Stephanie Meyers descriptions sometimes so I would enjoy the characters more :P However it is a simple read which is what makes people like it because with simple descriptions you can pretty much make your own character!

  • I hate Twilight 4 many reasons. If you like Twilight, that's cool.Cause it's,well oblivious, your own opinion. But just putting it out there, who have ever heard of SPARKLY VAMPIRES?!?!

  • @klovesthehungergames No-one haha... I suppose every idea is new at some point :D But lets face it, vampires are mythical in the first place.. if you're gonna write about them, WHY NOT give them sparkles? xxx

  • Twilight is a gateway book, i agree.

I read the series in 2007, before the movies and before the haters. There was no haters of the book before the movies (maybe there was, but not as much as now!)

There was no Twi-tards or w/e they call themselves lol

Its a book that i see as entertainment, i don't think it's the best book EVAR or think Meyer is a brilliant, it's just a simple book series that's entertaining to young adults, teens and some adults.

  • I gave the twilight books a chance and read them all....did not like them. I'm not going to hate someone just because they like twilight. The one kind of twilight fan that annoys me though is the ones that go on and on about how the twilight saga books are the best books they have ever read and the best books ever written and when you ask what else they have read, they haven't read anything else. Then you ask what else they might be interested in reading and they don't want to read anything else

  • ...Sorry about the negative fan rant .... Twilight got a lot of people into reading and thats cool

.I do respect your opinion and I LOVE your reviews :D

  • Twilight is a hateway book<3

    completely and totally agree

  • i absolutely LOVE twilight :) twilight was the first series i ever read because i wanted to know what happened stephenies writting makes you feel like your actually in the book & each character is so relatable this series opens so many doors for people i've met soo many different friends in rl & on the internet b4 twilight i nvr read a single supernatural romance novel now i can't get enough of them :) i recommend this series to any1 & evry1 Christine you completely rock<3 xoxoxemily
  • You just addressed my 3 favorite subjects! Twilight, Justin Bieber, and Hunger Games! I totally agree with you! People dislike stuff because a lot of people like it! After every sentence you said, I was like "OMG YES! SO TRUE!"

  • ok i LOVE charlie he is so awesome

  • i love twilight. twilight really got me into books, im a huge fan of multiple books too, like percy jackson, harry potter, the host, the hunger games. i have never been a fan of any of these books before twilight. it all started with twilight. that's why christine kind of reminds me of me. im the same way, haven't cared to read before i started reading twilight.

  • i love this video so so so much.

  • i am a girl so i love edward cullen and i have read the series multiple times and it has impacted my life

  • i like twilight because it has impacted my life so much and i absoultly love edward cullen and i have read the series multiple of times

  • You have just summed up my entire view on the subject :)

And I totally agree with you with the 'gateway' metaphor. The twilight saga introduced me to the House of Night, Fallen, the Sookie Stackhouse series and tonnes more! Before that, only the Harry Potter books gripped me.

    You're awesome Christine :)

  • I respect your opinion, but i hate twilight. It's poorly written, the characters are either annoying or creepy, VAMPIRES DONT SPARKLE, and Bella is the biggest mary sue ever printed on paper

  • I hate Twilight. In my defence, I read all four books and still hated it. It's badly written, it has awful messages and themes and sets the feminist movement back hundreds of years. All of this, however, does not mean I hate Stephanie Meyer. I loved The Host and I'd be happy to read anything else she writes unrelated to Twilight :) I'd never hate somebody solely because they loved Twilight. They all have their reasons, as do I for being completely and utterly obsessed with Harry Potter!

  • @ceerjaeb I only like her cause she has a really good taste in music and we have the same favorite band (Muse). And my favorite part of each book was the acknowledgements.

  • @ceerjaeb you hate twilight because your deformed

  • @marry197 Did you only read the first sentence? Really...?

  • Amen sister!

  • Thank you so much Christine! You just said out loud what I have been thinking for so long :) thank you thank you thank you!!!

  • TRUE CUS I NEVER EVER WOULD OF READ ANY BOOKS IF I HAVEN'T READ TWILIGHT (and i dont look like a girl that read books) i even scared the shit out of my parents when i told them i wanted a book for my birthday ........it was so funny lol

  • You. Said. It. All.

  • I'm like ur sister. Now I'm almost done with new moon. I love twilight. It's the first book I ever read in my life from cover to cover. Girl u rock.

  • People hate over anything these days it seems. I only read the entire saga because I liked the minor characters Alice, Jasper and Rosalie from the 1st book, and someone at my school threatened to kill me because I didn't like the main characters. It also was more of an escapist read that got soured due to insane fantards harassing me.

I think if it wasn't for the Twilight Saga, my dad wouldn't have accidentally picked up Twilight by William Gay or The Hunger Games for me.

  • omg im just like your sister i never read until i picked up twilight... now i read all sorts of books mostly supernatural books but seriously i have become obsessed with reading and it pisses me off when the series end. i love vampire academy series im just picking up the third book and read the first 2 books in 2 days . its crazy and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!!!!!!

  • (cont.)

and now it changed my thought on vampires a little bit. or a lot! now thanks to Twilight and Stephenie Meyer, i'm not afraid of them anymore!

did i mention that i love you?? cause i do!

  • i love you. seriuosly. i really do. i did before but now it's like...if i werent straight i'd marry you!! your points were dead on. i've been telling people this for YEARS and they never listen and just carry on with their hating lives. but with you to back me up, maybe they'll listen a little more now. so thank you sooooooooooooo much! when i first heard of the series, i thought, "vampires? idk..." cause i was afraid it would be a horror book, but my bff finally convinced me and...

  • The characters are relatable because bella isn't describes well, that's why girls find it so appealing. They can put themselves into the book itself.

  • i'm a guy and me loving twilight makes people make fun of me. its makes me so mad. but when i read twilight i feel like i'm part of it like u said. I've made a lot of new friends because of twilight and started reading any books involving vampires. so in the end twilight changed my life in such a great way. enough said :)

  • darling theres a difference between nerdy & geeky.

Personally I liked the twilight saga the first time i read it cause you know i was into the story and what was going to happen but then I read it again and it was horrible. Reading classics and all kinds of things like crime and just heaps of genres I tend to pay attention to sentence structure nd complexity and red herrings etc so after knowing what was going to happen and everything obviously for me the writing got the limelight. result: bad

  • Twilight was the gateway of other books for me too! I read the Host and Lightning thief and a whole bunch of other series after that. I don't mind other twilighteers who had twilight as a gateway to other books. But I do HATE it when someone forces themself to read a book like twilgiht because their friends like it. They read one series and then say that their avid readers because they've read one series.

  • I had the read twilight then got hooked on books thing happen to me also :) I love reading now

  • i agree with you, twilight isn't my favourite but it's not the worst book i've read. i don't understand why everyone was HATING on it! seriosuly someone tell me a good reason, i think the haters are just as passionate about twilight as the fans

  • Everytime it cuts and you whip around, I imagine your Mum coming upstairs and going "Christine...What are you doing?" (:

  • You do have a valid point, however Twilight is still terrible. Yet, I still think that Twilight is still the good gateway-book-drug, shows people that there is an amazing world of books.

  • I don't like the books. But I think your making a very good point. subscribe [:

  • I used to be really passionate about Twilight, but not as much now. But I can still respect the books' success, and the fact that other people love them. I agree completely on the thing about the level of hate after the film. I hate the crazy obsessed film fangirls as much as the haters though, they're the ones who gave the books their bad reputation. Nerds get enough hate as it is without us fighting amongst each other.

  • Twilight.Is.Not.A.Nerd.Thing.

  • @SeverusSnapeOrSev so true. it's an everything thing!

  • @SeverusSnapeOrSev your right..it's a book full of cliche's and one dimensional characters with marysues around every corner

  • . I like the books, hate the movies

  • @18superbhs i hate both

  • Twilight is still disgusting. I don't care what you say.

  • @BeastlyBarbie agreed

  • Sorry I forgot to write the word me in my comment :p

  • I love twilight it made get into reading more.

  • @twiheart1115 exactly what happened with me , i never read books until twilight and now i can put them down

  • harry potter is also gay.

  • twilights gay.

  • --> Shakespeare but in comparison to other trivial literature its not very good.in fact it has way to many flaws to be considered a good book.after you'll have read more books I guess you'll see what I mean. There are just simple little things like she didn' think everything trough properly, does alot of mistakes & is not very creative.pls don't argue with the "vampires sparkle" because thats not creative, its stupid. if you change smt do it for a reason, theres NO reason for them to sparkle.

  • @littlepanimausi to be fare what reason is there for vampires to be damaged by sunlight?!?!?!? who care its fiction FICTION (NOT REAL) who cares if stephenie meyer has a different interpretation

  • @GregMonster17 it has a reason: its their weakness! every creature should have one. plus its symbolic because they are creatures of the night!

that its fiktional doesn't mean it should be illogical. if for example she says in her first book "vamps can't have children" or "they have NO bodily fluids" she should stick to that instead of changing it as she pleases. of course, she can do whatever she wants - it just makes me hate the series because it doesn't make sense at all.

  • first of all i agree with you nobody should bash someone for liking OR disliking something. i liked twilight too but after I read all of them I started thinking & I realised there were alot of things that I didn't like & it all added up & now i hate it. but i can understand why smb. would like it & at least its doing smt good in the way that it gets people to read other stuff. i know its trivial literature, its simply there for enjoyment & I don't think anybody is going to compare it to -->

  • continued from my other post...though have you looked at OUR opinions on the book and actually tried not to judge us?

and like your nerd term. the friends i know who like twilight are the opposite. same with harry potter. they try to read the books and then flake out. then say that they're nerdy. no you're not shut up.

  • continued from my other post...maybe things changed. but i still didn't like the books. and i don't mind the fans who are not fake about it. it's like yeah, that's your opinion, but when fans get decide to say that this enhanced my vocab, stephanie meyer is brilliant...well i want to punch them. i hate the movies too. i have stupid friends who love twilight but act so fake about it and act even worse when i discuss harry potter. they decide that they're true fans and this and that. it's like no.

  • you're right

  • I agree with you. I wanted to read books but I couldn't find any that sparked my interest. After I heard about the movie I wanted to read the books first to see if they were better. I devored the book in 4 days. (school days) That was 2 years ago, I had NEVER EVER read a thick book in that much time. Afterwards I started other vampire novels (Blue Bloods, Morganville vampires, Vampire Academy, etc.) I thank Stephenie Meyer for writing Twilight.

  • But i should also say i like what you're saying about opinions and it becoming a gateway for new books, that's really good :)

It's just us Twi-haters get riled when some nuttymadame3575-esque squealing fangirl just throws a hissy and says we're wrong to dislike it because it's an "AMAZING BOOOOOOOOOK!!!"

Good thing you're not though, you're a sensible fan, which i respect, it takes willpower to not get sucked in ;P

  • ....ah :(

The thing you brought up about Bellah is more or less the only reason why it's so popular.

I really don't criticise you for liking it , and i don't criticise Twilight for being popular, i criticise it because-looking at it at the level of other books (e.g. the Spook's apprentice)-it's really really bad.

Personally, i cannot see the entertainment factor, most of it is awkward small-talk nd when danger does loom it's brushed aside with no sense of peril or drama.

    (i won't go further) :P

  • you should read this reasoningwithvampires [dot] tumblr [dot] com

  • YOU GO GIRL! You tell it like it is! Love this video!

  • why do your posters change so much?

  • Oh my God I love you!! Ur amazing!!!

  • harry potter was just there first. which in my opinion makes it awesome. i've been reading it since i was in like 4 grade. and it's becauseeveryone's calling twilight 'the new harry potter' HP is a classic. twilight.. i don't really think it will last as long

  • @browneyedbeauty903 exactly. i don't like twilight at all, but i do like harry potter. they're two completely different things, but still harry potter is way bigger than twilight. i'm not judgmental of twilight fans because they're like harry potter fans but with bad taste. but i don't really see anything relatable in twilight. i actually did like it in the beginning but then i stopped during the 2nd books and realized that it was just bad. really bad. then i went back and finished the series.

  • I was the same way before twilight I only read harry potter and maybe a cuple of others and not very often but after i read it i was look for new books to read because i loved the feeling of falling in love with the twilight series and i wanted to experince it again. And now I have 2 or 3 books from different series going at a time and I don't think that would have happened if my friend hadn't recommended twilight to me. I LOVE TWILIGHT !!!!!!!! <3

  • omfgg, i love you...

  • I agree with you entirely.....Through Twilight I have rediscovered my love for reading. Before Twilight, the last book I read was one of the Harry Potter books and I was in 7th grade.( Im now a junior in college)Now, since ive read Twilight, ive been reading like a manic! ive read Twilight 4 times and ive read 15 other books( and that is unheard of for me!) what i love the most about Twilight is that it allowed me to escape my own BORING reality and allowed me to live in an EXCITING new world.

  • I agree twilight introduced me to other vampire books as well:)

  • what book are you currently reading right now, again?

  • i like twilight because the characters in that book are so unique and the action is paced at exactly the right points. it was also the first book i heard of with such an interesting love triangle and now other authors are building off of what stephenie meyer wrote and have developed wonderful books because of it and im sure a lot of amazing books with love triangles (like the hinger games and the mortal instruments) wouldnt be in the world if not for the twilight series!!

  • @foreverxalyssa You truly think Twilight was the first book to have love triangles?

  • Love you! I am a NERD and I love twilight. The only thing that has caused me to meet more friends than Twilight would be Harry Potter. I love the rant because I totally get your reaction.

  • @twilightfreak1346

    I'm really not a hater.

    It's just simple logic

  • :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

  • There you go girl, you're right. I had not read as much books in the years after harry potter and before twilight. It did make me go after more awesome books too. I was disappointed with the 3rd and 4th books, but twilight and new moon for me were amazing. I have friends who refuse to read bestsellers. I say: if they're bestsellers, there's a reason for it. You may not see why, but lots of people did. Great video.

  • I am personally not a real Twilight fan. I have issues with the books (and yes, I have read all of them, so I'm not one of the people who hate it without reason). The BIGGEST thing I don't like about Twilight related things is the really crazed obsessed fangirls. I don't mine the fans. It's the CRAZED ones that I cannot stand. Like the ones that claim they will marry Edward or whatever....or go bashing people for not liking the series.

  • I definitely agree with you! So many people were twilight fans before the whole rob pattinson and taylor lautner obsessions started. I remember people on facebook would be like "I love edward cullen!" They loved him because of his character not because rob pattinson is hot. I personally kind of regret the movies being made because they gave Twilight a bad reputation. I know it has its flaws, but overall Twilight is an awesome love story!
