When my mom use to work near the factories, which were near the yard I would always see a B36-7 come and sort cars around there. It was a pretty good expirence to see them even if it was 10:30 P.M.
Woah I higly doubt the woman @ 0:43 works at the yard, she walked in front of the locomotives like it was nothing! Looks like she was only a few feet away
They are down to eight B30-7s remaining in service on the entire CSX system. As for the B36-7s, I do not really know the exact figure on how many of those remain.
Those old GE units never were very reliable, but it was cheaper to fix them than buying new units. With the increase in rail usage, railroads make more money and are buying new units to replace the old ones. Small railroads will buy the decommissioned ones.
Thump, thump, thump; I have to love the 4 cycle sounds of a GE FDL powering up.

WoW!! 5 B30-7's or B36-7's!! but Wow To See All These old Units and a Conrail With only a simple Number patch
xxxDeath9572xxx 3 years ago
Actually, that Conrail unit looks like a GP38 or something like that.
fafnir242 2 years ago
it looks more along the lines of older GP40.
xxxDeath9572xxx 2 years ago
Yeah, it's hard to tell without more detail and a better shot of the number.
fafnir242 2 years ago
It is, all the other units are 'B's...
DJGENEX71 2 years ago
arent the B30-7's and B36-7's becoming rare?
xxxDeath9572xxx 3 years ago
Yes, they are being decomissioned due to maintenance expenses (low hp and rather unreliable to boot). CSX is letting them die.
dasmikey1964 3 years ago
Wow That Really Sucks!! But Of Course low HP and unreliable because of it being old But that doesnt Mean CSX Should Let Them Die!
