Im going to be honest, Im tempted to paint my car with this! This is actually a really cool project that I may use on tool cabinets I have in my garage. Itll prevent a lot of wear and tear from things banging against them as well as make them easier to wipe down.
Please lower the background music so I can hear what the speaker is saying?
When I lower the volume to try to drown out the music, I can't hear what he is saying as well.
Other than that, I am glad this is on here. I've been trying to convince my hubby that I want to do this but he was not sold on the idea. Maybe this video will help him see what it can look like. I hope the instructions are thorough. Would an HVLP sprayer work? Would need the Tip & PSI recommendation
@ninphous Hi - you may use a HVLP sprayer - although most people use the roller and brush that's included in the Fridge Kit because it's quicker - easier - and provides a brushed satin stainless steel finish - If you have an HVLP sprayer - then your tip should be sized to accommodate a 35 micron piece of stainless steel. You may dilute the Liquid Stainless Steel up to three percent by volume with water. Let us know if you have any further questions Tim
that fridge looks crazy...remove the gaskets people...and for the love of Christ don't do the door handles silver, Black, or a color if you're into that, but that looks horrible the way it is...with a good hand and a little common sense you might actually make something look cool with that shit...i think id keep it to the garage though
So many people saying it looks cheap and blah blah blah...it works when you don't have the funds to buy brand new SS appliances. But I would put on a high shine gloss and paint the handles black so everything looks a bit more realistic.
It looks totally cheezy on cabinets and appliances. It just looks like silver paint... no grain, no texture. Almost like the silver paint you get a model car building kit.
@Belladupri So I've heard - In reality you don't have to take your food out of your fridge - I just cracked my doors open about an inch while I painted and about two hours after and the food in the fridge stayed ok
I like the idea...but it looks really time consuming especially with all the hours till the appliance can be fully functional again. I do not think the appliances presented in the video looked cheap, just the quality of the video was not good. I really liked how the stove and dishwasher looked. The fridge is a give or take. I would buy this product if I had the time and patience to be very precise with the application process...
Be sure to apply the clear top coat in the same direction as the stainless steel" What?? The stainless steel went on in 2 coats, one was up, the other was down.
So by "direction" do you mean like vertically vs horizontally?
@crazydavemma Hi Dave - it may be used on a motor bike with the appropriate primer. Not sure what a fiberglass fairing is. If you need something for an industrial application - you may consider a company in WA called Burke Industrial Coatings because they make stainless steel paints for food processing plants. The color is dull and gray - but it is very functional finish.
are you kidding me! I laughed all the way through this! You still have the same old ugly appliance that only has a year or two left. Folks, save your money until you can buy new products. Might as well spray paint your cabinets, countertops and flooring while your at it. This will kill the value of your home.
Those appliances look like painted appliances. They're ghetto as hell. That shit looks like stainless about as much as chrome spray paint looks like chrome. Not only did this prick paint the dishwasher, he didn't even pull the fucker out.
Hi CrystalKid, once rust begins it must be removed because it will continue to oxidize, even with a coating over it. After you remove the rust and apply a good metal primer, you may consider applying Thomas' stainless steel over your entire distiller - as it's not designed for stainless touch-ups because of the numerous grades of stainless used. Please verify that your distiller surface temperature doesn't exceed the 325F temperature threshold of the Thomas' SS coating.
This shit is wacky! Don't think you can count on doing a clean job on your first go around though, Guaranteed to require practice. Good idea, must be expensive. Man I would love to own that patent...it is patented right? I wanna paint that shit on everything!
We just re-did our kitchen and all of our appliances are SS except for the dishwasher. Would like to keep it for a year or 2 as it is working well but need to give it the SS look. Thoughts on paint vs. plastic film?
First off, full disclosure, I work for the SS paint company. If you're looking for a mirror polished finish, then the paint won't work for you - because it's more of a brushed satin finish. It's made with 100% SS mixed into a clear polyurethane so it won't fingerprint. I coated my dishwasher with it three years ago and it's been nick and scratch free - and that's with two kids putting it through some pretty tough tests. After I painted it, my in-laws thought we'd bought a new one
Because of the environmental pressures placed on the automotive industry over the last two decades, they are making water-based polyurethanes that can be cleaned up with water
People, just buy stainless steel appliances cause this won't look good at all.
I'm sure their product can be used for other projects, but to use this product to paint old appliances to appear as real stainless steel appliances is rather funny.
Remember, I'm not against the product cause I'm sure it can be useful for some creative projects. I just can't picture why anyone would waste their time painting old appliances just to get a look, while lacking the new technology and features.
