The thing that let the s2 down is the shitty software. I have an s2 and I love it but software isn't good. The hardware however is fantastic... The exynos dual core in my s2 (as there is 3 different cpu set ups) is a lot faster than any snapdragon or humming bird 1.5 dual core and that's just because of how efficient Samsung have made it. You should really look up online and compare the chipsets. I had a race in which me and a friend (4s) opened apps and both opened the same apps quick as other

@chrischoy9 The only samsung phones that aren't laggy are the ones that use Samsung's chips, the exynos...the Galaxy S2 for t-mobile, and the skyrocket both use snapdragons...they're both laggy...HTC, Samsung, motorola and the rest all make laggy phones...the Exynos just has the mali-400 that's why it's operations are a lot more fluid than its colleagues...

Android uses software and dalvin cache instead of hardware acceleration on UI which is why android suffered lag in the pass.
WP7 and iOS doesn't suffer such issue because it had hardware acceleration in UI.
Android AOSP 1.0-2.3 only used hardware acceleration in games, slider bar and transitions
@chrischoy9 ICS does a good job with hardware acceleration...unfortunately, that's not the only reason why android is laggy(the operating system wasn't designed to be a full touch based UI).So instead of using openGL for rendering like iOS always does, android does all of this the hard way(like blackberries)..hardware acceleration helps via the GPU, but until android's threading doesn't change, it won't be as responsive as iOS or WP7. It is getting a lot better though(GNexus & transformer prime)

@FunnyPlace1 The fact actually is that the T-Mobile SGSII variant has a 1,5GHz dual core Qualcomm CPU (as there is no 4G antenna in the Exynos SoC) which is faster than the A5 CPU, however the Imagination Technologies SGX 543MP2 GPU of the iPhone 4S is about 3 times as fast as the Adreno 220 in the T-Mo SGSII (and about 2 times as fast as the Mali 400 that's in the other variants). So hardware wise I'd say that the iPhone 4S is stronger (and I own an international variant SGSII btw).
about the benchmark, some one once told me that gingerbread was not optimized for a duel core processor. Maybe when it gets ICS it will be a fair fight.
The actual fact is: the iPhone 4S has a benchmark score way higher than the galaxy s2, the ppi on the screen is better, Siri is better then any voice assistant on android and t-mobile are just jealous because they don't have the iPhone 4S. Thumbs up if you agree!

WP7 and iOS doesn't suffer such issue because it had hardware acceleration in UI.
Android AOSP 1.0-2.3 only used hardware acceleration in games, slider bar and transitions

@chrischoy9 ICS does a good job with hardware acceleration...unfortunately, that's not the only reason why android is laggy(the operating system wasn't designed to be a full touch based UI).So instead of using openGL for rendering like iOS always does, android does all of this the hard way(like blackberries)..hardware acceleration helps via the GPU, but until android's threading doesn't change, it won't be as responsive as iOS or WP7. It is getting a lot better though(GNexus & transformer prime)

@chrischoy9 Saying its google's first time is too much of an excuse...its been apple's first time...matter of fact, if I'm correct, android's president repeatedly says that android efforts started before iOS efforts...that said, there's a reason steve Jobs said that iOS is at years ahead of the competition...its not the feature list, it was the simple basis of the OS - touch UI should be responsive...that's why android lags, and until recently(almost 5 years later) google is starting to fix...

In what benchmark does any gingerbread phone beat the iPhone 4S?...lol...please...the iPhone 4S loads webpages faster, performs better on literally every benchmark, performs smoother and has a better GPU...the Exynos processor is the SoC on most S2's, but doesn't T-mobile's version use a snapdragon processor? That's even slower than the Exynos...lol...I've seen false advertising before, but this is just ridiculous...

@thecityboy781 lol...hey, I get a little ticked by stuff like this..its a complete lie...there's several areas that android phones are better...speed is definitely not one of them...network speed is one thing, but pretty much every phone with LTE connectivity has got to settle for a snapdragon or TI OMAP Soc...with the exception of the Galaxy Nexus(for obvious reasons), they relatively suck at everything else...so its quite an expensive tradeoff...

@chrischoy9 Actually the 4S gets approx 89 grand while the S2 gets 55 grand...that doesn't matter, they are both good phones, any actual speed increase between them is very minor...but saying that the S2 is faster IMO, is a fat lie...to everyone his own I guess...pick what OS you like and get the best for your budget...just don't toss random and very false data around...confusing to newbies who want to get an opinion on something...

@FunnyPlace1 The fact actually is that the T-Mobile SGSII variant has a 1,5GHz dual core Qualcomm CPU (as there is no 4G antenna in the Exynos SoC) which is faster than the A5 CPU, however the Imagination Technologies SGX 543MP2 GPU of the iPhone 4S is about 3 times as fast as the Adreno 220 in the T-Mo SGSII (and about 2 times as fast as the Mali 400 that's in the other variants). So hardware wise I'd say that the iPhone 4S is stronger (and I own an international variant SGSII btw).

The actual fact is: the iPhone 4S has a benchmark score way higher than the galaxy s2, the ppi on the screen is better, Siri is better then any voice assistant on android and t-mobile are just jealous because they don't have the iPhone 4S. Thumbs up if you agree!

@98Flynn The fact is: GS2 has a 1.2 ghz exynos processor, scored higher on the browser benchmark (compared to ishit 4s' 800mhz dual core a5 processor), has better graphical power, who really give a shit about a voice command that you rarely ever use (except to show it off to friends or in a car), Android already has a voice command, who wants high ppi on a tiny 3.5 inch screen, gs2 screen is amazing (you have to see it in person)
