Got to see him in concert too at Arifjan, Kuwait, USO show, him, Craig Morgan, Leeann Tweeden, three of the Dolphin's cheerleaders, and Louis CK.... great show, for all servicemembers, this song remains one of my all time favorites.
The second verse really hits home for me. I am the oldest of four children. I have a younger sister and two younger brothers. Shortly before hearing this song for the first time, my father passed away. For awhile there, I was terrified that my mom would too. If that had happened, that verse would've been my life.
I actually don't like contry, but when I love this song. I'm so glad you came and spoke at my school today. This song has an amazing message and a great story. Thank you Keni!! :D ~Cheyenne
you read all the comic books and watch all the movies about hero's.... these people that serve our country are the real and greatest hero's we can ever have! God bless all of you!!
omg i met him! he came to our school for a veterans day assembly. he's a really great guy who loves God and our country. he has an amazing voice, too!
the initial blast shattered my right arm broke my ribs and cracked my skull even through my body armor it was 3 155 Artillery shells detonated when the convoy passed a guard rail I was tailing a truck loaded with ammunition, explosives, spare weapons and MRE's the truck blew up the driver and assistant were incinerated. I made a full recovery and leave for Afghanistan
i know how you feel brother when I was in Iraq I was team leader. my humvee was hit with an IED. all soldiers in it were killed except me and my gunner. My gunners legs were blown off and I still have glass and schrapnel imbeded in my right arm neck and side the rest died on impact and to this day I still ask my self why me why did I get the medal why did I live, why couldn't I have taken those boy's place instead i think about it to this day and it happened during the initial push to baghdad
This is my husbands favorite song. He didn't want to be a cub scout leader much less a Cub Master. Doug ended up being a cub leader, Cub Master and now Scout Master for our sons troop. Doug also wasn't crazy about going to Iraq in 2004 but he did what he had to and did not say not me. Keni puts real life in his songs! This is an incredible song with so much meaning to our family.
I know Kenny and have used his songs in two of my videos. This was the single that was presented to bring attention to his cd FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS. He also was with the 3rd Ranger Bn in Somalia with TFR in Oct 93 when they had the big shoot out. After that he was in Blackhawk Down and We were young and Soldiers as a squad leader for Mel Gibson. Shortly after that he cut his CD.
it is sad what happened to keni but i do know that no matter if we are or not in the milatary we support our troops i know that when my dad was in the army even though he wasnt in a war my mom was wishin he would come back.
i am curently deployed to iraq on my second tour in 3 yrs, and i love this song, imma use it for the video i make to remember what it was like this time, great great song. HOOAH
Just saw Keni in Vegas for Focus on the Future. Very touching speech and an inspiring song. He's a pleasure to talk to and a strong songwriter. I'm looking forward to him growing into a success.
Awesome song. I'll always remember this song and Circle On The Cross when you were in Mosul. You did a great job up in Mosul. Remember to keep that penny with ya.
Thank you Kenny, a soldier who was with my son when he was KIA relayed this indescribable tribute. My son stood front of attack and didn't give an inch. Mentally I scream in a continual loop "not him" . He leaves behind his younger brother challenged w/ autism / life skill disorders whom he had pledged to be guardian. "Not us" "Not Me'. With tears
Thank you, Keni - I say through tear stained eyes. My son is a US Army Ranger - enough said - RLTW - Thank you and God bless you - I ordered your CD today.
i leave for the Army Oct 4th and I was pretty nerviours, but after listening to this song, i cant waite to go and i now have something to say when people tell me that i was should get out of going. Thank you Mr Thomas
