I remember the narrator's voice being different. I think I had a version narrated by a German sounding character from Duck Tales.

Yes, there are two versions of this cartoon. The version from Fun and Fancy Free is narrated by ventriloquist Edgar Bergen and his puppet friends. Another version that was shown on television (which I believe is shorter in length) is narrated by a duck known by both Scrooge McDuck or Professor Ludwig Von Drake. The ducks are different people, but the voice and the appearance is the same. I hope this helps : )
