I 'am 57 years old and this was a tune that I related to when I was younger . I'am in a great place now but didn't see it coming , I'am just a good ole boy who learned to wait !
Me and my buddy Rick would play this song over 30 years ago.It reminds me of him and all the good times we'd sit and play Ozark's songs.I miss ya Rick..Killed in a logging accident a couple of years ago.Rest in Peace Rick.. guitar picker, harley riding, hard workin buddy... and our best friend.
Yes, I do love this music.. Could and do listen most of the day.. Take me back to when my sweetheart was here, and all was well..tx mjansen5.... Ken1960-1980.. Drunk driver took him away!!! STOP DRINKING AND DRIVING PEOPLE!!!
"it was written while we were recording the album. actually we recorded it the day after it was written". the logic isn't the strongest part here, is it. good song though.
I am 42 yrs old and have grown up listening to my older brothers play the Ozark Mt. Daredevil's music, loved it all!!! One of my brothers just passed and my other brothers played this song at his funeral mass. My brother ALWAYS had to play this song every time he picked up a guitar, so it was a final tribute to him, had the whole church singing along. I hope you know your music will never die . . . . would love to see more of it and you. 7/05/11 in Collinsville, IL
What a great song by a great band. I'm only 27 years old, but bands like OMD have really had an effect on me. It really doesn't get much better than this.
I grew up with OMD... Springfield, Missouri and the seventies. The OMD's are an integral part of my memories of growing up. This is an excellent vid cuz it's almost like seeing um again, hanging out, partying. Thanks for this vid!
Fantastic! This song is really good for harmony, though, in this particular live version, the harmony is not mixed as well as it could be. Bravo for posting it.
Saw the Ozarks in 1976 at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh, Scotland. Bit of a stuffy old venue more used to staging classical music. Atmosphere was wonderful but one old suited blimp of a steward got very upset when people started dancing. He was dashing around trying to tell people to sit down ... he soon gave up as we all got into the swing of one of the best concerts I saw in the 70s [+ indeed in my life] thanks OMDs [and you gustavo]
I had the priveledge of attending an Ozark Mountain Daredevils concert at the Vogue Theatre in Indianapolis in 1976. It is a cherished memory that I will keep forever. They were such prolific songwriters and wrote about beautiful, meaningful subjects. OMD always make me feel better!
Never heard of OMD before, although I should have had the chance to, as I'm born in 68. Now, I am searching the entire tube for OMD songs. Anyway, this one's the best. Fascinating. What a band.
thanks so much for this post. This song had a major influence on me as a kid and has always been with me when i am singing or writing. OMD were my muse and still on my playlists. feel free to check out my original offerings.
im only thirty but ozark was one of the influences i had growing up that taught me what music was all about....i only wiish more radio stations played ozark more often then the occasional jackie blue ..this band is so much more then that..i wish i could have the expierence of seeing them in concert.
I also saw this tour in '76 at the Apollo in Glasgow. There were wives and babies on stage AND a dog! Great fun, super concert. Everyone on stage was feeling very "relaxed", and most of the audience also! Afterwards I ended up in a pub sitting next to a cop from the drug squad who found my paranoia highly amusing. The kids today don't understand what it was like, living constantly with one foot in jail. But we had the music to keep the other foot dancing!
I cannot believe this ison! Thank you very much, may God be with you. Thought I was one of a very small minority but maybe not, so once again mucho gracias!
these guys were fevorites of mine years ago and still are. does ahyone know where I could get a complete copy of them at the old grey whistle? I've seen chickentrain from there on here but now can't find it. whats up with that?
I grew up listening to these wonderful group of guys, my second cousin is Ruell Chappell, This song was my father daughter dance at my wedding, my dad would sing this song to me all the time when I was kid.
these guys were the real deal alright ! thats real american country rock by guys who grew up together not like say the eagles who were kinda invented in la i have loved their songs for 37 years since i was a teenager in ireland in the 70s
Thanks to fellow Swansea student John Beeby (where sre you now John?!) this has been in my all time top 20 for 30 years. Massive respect to the Ozarks fom this little corner of Britain.
This entire album is amazing! It is like my family's "house music"! Boy, does it bring back memories. I LOVE this band! The lyrics are awesome. I wish I could have seen them live. That would have been heaven on earth.
The last time they played live in London was at the Mean Fiddler I think at the end of the 80's oe early 90's. They were as fantastic as ever and the crowd was ecstatic! The first time I ever saw them was at the Roxy in LA on their first visit to Hollywood, The band was so taken aback by the audience, as we already knew all the songs and were calling out our favourites and singing along, that at the end of the gig, they came into the audience to meet us, thank us and hug us! The Best Band!
This band is so special! Even Gly Johns, their English producer who produced the Rolling Stones knew that! I loved them in the 1970s and I still love them today! Thanks to John and alll the boys for enriching my life with their tunes. Love Lisa from way back when
well lisaduffy28 i could nt agree more with you always loved that band had a tape for years of that album every song a classic very talented musicians and song writers and great fun as well ! that concert was on the mainstreet chanel on the telly i video taped it and watched it to death cant flipping find it now ! i m gutted
Thanks for the memory- saw these guys in London in '74 i think it was- their songs influenced my life then & have informed my own music (along with many others) ever since.
thanks for posting. I'm just leaning to play guitar after 43 years of wanting to and this is officially the first song I've learned to play all the way through. still pretty rough
One hell of a song! It's a shame the Ozark Mountain Daredevils never got the recognition they deserve. Their first two albums contain some of the best country-rock there is.
still a great song

Because humanity has such a short memory, each generation don't remember shite. Mother fuckers, remember, at least beyond one gen.
Right I'm only 30, but it's my missions to teach da fucks younger than me that there was a WW2, right.
