I went to a private school for nine years and it was even worse than public schools. Religious brainwashing at it's finest. The food they served was awful. The teachers were a disgrace.
Most training doesn't teach you to think, it trains you to do. Experience trains you to think and trust yourself. Research, think and do for yourself. Homeschooling by a parent who researches is even more educational and beneficial than any public school training or education!
I wish I had never gone to public schools. The priority is not education, it is sports. If there was only some way for me to never, ever give a dime to a public school, I'd like to do that. I loathe and despise public schools that much.

Who is going to protect us from Government? I could have read 12 history books in one year and learned to spell just from using words from history, I could have learned to write too, by transposing my history lessons. Law just passed in New Zealand. Teachers now have the right to search students, on the suspicion of drugs or weapons. Drugs and weapons in school are not the norm here, it is so rare it makes headlines, weapons is usually a troubled child from a dysfunctional family, usually a bullying victim, but they have used it as an excuse to abuse the rights of all our school children. It's all over the world people, not just the US.

I was commenting on Alex's overuse of a term I find to be thoroughly innappropriate to the situation and that this was the kind of thing I'd expect from people like Glenn Beck, who are some of the ugliest sides of American politics. It's not a fault of one party or the other, but a fault of both parties - and all of us who have quietly stood by and allowed it to happen. Yes, I'm guilty too - but - no longer! Who is going to protect us from Government? I could have read 12 history books in one year and learned to spell just from using words from history, I could have learned to write too, by transposing my history lessons. Other countries, have learned 2 or 3 other languages by the time they graduate......Our government has dumbed us down. We learn nothing about common law, the principles that made this country great and our personal rights. This is by design.

I also want to point out that compulsory education violates the 13th amendment, of course the government hardly respects the constitution so there won't be any repeal of the mandatory attendance laws or teacher tenure system. There is nothing with the state helping fund schools, the underlying problem is government FORCING children into these schools.

The reason is that out teachers don't go to school to teach, they go to school to get money. PROFIT MOTIVE. this is the major problem. There was a small community I saw recently.. It's not just schools that are brainwashing our youth, it's also universities. They used to be centres of free expression and exchange of ideas, no matter what end of the spectrum they came from. These days universities are nothing more than centres for marxist thought, and any deviation from the party line is not tolerated. It's funny that it was the hippies back in the 60's that fought for homeschooling to be brought back, because they didn't trust the government. They were right not to.
