Yea I agree on this point under some circumstances. I've noticed so many new indie groups ('scene' as we like to call them in NZ) are extremely pretentious. However, although I can't say much myself, not that I play indie like this, but quite a lot of the songs i write are heavily drawn from other bands that I listen to. When it really comes down to it music is about fun. Fair enough you have your own opinion but it should encroach on the enjoyment of others, something ive learnt.
