  • excellent video there! Good luck to your future, whatever your doing :)

  • @Huqe nice cpmment, thankyou so much

  • wo ur really good

  • That Eric Clapton video you've linked to is great! Thanks for letting us know about it.

  • hey man nice vid. I gotta question, with the first type of vibrato ive always done it bending the string up like at 2:10 in the vid cause i can get a ten times better sound and its way easier than when i do it bending down, are you allowed to do it this way ? cause everywhere ive read says to bend the string up, but i thought it shouldnt matter cause both ways are doing the same thing except just in opposite directions? and the sound should be the same either way

  • I tend to bend bottom three up to the ceiling and the top three down to the floor. But its up you, many great guitarist break the rules and therefore define a unique style. string 1 though can only bend up. I would definetely experiment with both techniques.

  • @guitarnmusic1617

it is the same...just play it as you like...

i personally prefer to pull strings down...

but it's helpful @ the higher strings...you would run the risk of running out of fretboard...

  • I have a problem with my bending... I am sort of a beginner...

When I bend a string , my right "bending" fingers will "pluck" the strings above the one I'm bending and make unpleasant sounds.

Any idea what my technique problem is?

I noticed this getting worse once my fingers developed heavy callouses, but this may not be related.

  • try putting all your fingers or fingers 1 2 and 3 in arow on the same string ,evenly spaced one per fret. and then bend to the ceiling with the combined strength of more than one finger. see my bending vid. dont worry about the callouses ,this is normal ,it will just harden and give you a good grip on the string. hope this helps

  • Justin sandercoe is really good :)

You are too, thanks for the help!

  • Easily the most concise and informative video concerning vibrato on Youtube.

After taking up the electric last year (after many years of Acoustic) I have found my vibrato to be sadly lacking (some would say non-existent..Ha ha!!!).

    Thanks for the pointers!

  • thanks .please subscribe for more free lessons

  • Really helpful man. Cool accent too :D

  • Great lesson! You broke it down very well. You're right that Clapton has an amazing bent string vibrato that is very difficult to execute. You're the first person I've seen on youtube that's talked about that.

  • thanks. I only came across the technique about 8months ago. It is difficult but does come with practice although you cant force it. Have to let it develop . Dan

  • Oh and nice video!

  • What about Jimi Hendrix vibrato? How the hell did Hendrix do it?

  • I fucked your dad!

  • thank you very much sir, this is just what i needed.

  • I shall try and combine the the vibratos...cheers
