I barely touched the curb/apex for about 15" with the LF, causing the RR to unload and slide. Felt like black ice. I steered/corrected to avoid THAT tree. Then caught the next tree with LR, ripping it off, and causing the barrel roll.
MR2's are great cars and as robzerio said they are very well balanced but due of the Mid engine, if you loose traction (and you are tyring to grip) it is near imposible to recover the turn.. I own an MR2.. and i love it..
WHAT THATS BULL SHIT! Mid-engined cars are the most ballanced.. Like DUH Hence all supercars/Lemans Racers are what? MID ENGINED.. Now if its an Old Porsche then Yeh its VERY HARD TO DRIVE.. But over the years they have gradually put the engine further forwards to make the handling more ballanced.. Duh Wheres the kill switch.. haha!
HOLY SHIT! SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. but i flew off a 70foot cliff rolled bounced and landed upside down. it was in my 240sx s13 with a ka24de. Loose gravel on the road caused my crappy worn out tires to lose traction and i flew off the cliff.
Not only is this car RWD it's mid engined, it's VERY sensitive to changes in throttle, a quick miscalculation on the gas can result in almost uncontrollable oversteer. The pivot point of the car makes reflexes really important if you lose traction.
well and also Mr2s are not balanced very well because of the motor located in the mid/rear and once you lose control of them they are very difficult to control. They are also very twitchy around corners. but hey everyone has to learn from their mistakes. I know i have lol :/
Hmmm looking at it again it feels as if the driver saw the turn straighten out and opened up on the throttle too much. The turbo kicked in and spun the wheels while he was turning.
I wonder if it was because the road was uneven, or if the turbo kicked in. The MR-2 doesn't take much to oversteer. Could even be something as simple as the driver lifting his foot off the gas pedal too fast.
that truely sucks.. looks to me that maybe he wasnt expecting the change in wieght transfer coming up that hill and that possibly threw the rear end out.
judging by how he was doing on earlier hairpins, it looks like he jumps on the throttle a lil too early esp in a low gear, resulting in tirespin/oversteer.
damn so many people flip the deuces, i found that the hard way myself, then i got another 1 and dont plan on doing that again. Such an amazing car, gotta have a lot of experience before u do any crazy sh*t, not a car for an amateur and i agree w/ u christofurg, he is a good driver. MR2 #1!!!!
As I said, he is probably a better driver than all of you. He was not a novice at the "track" he was at "ndskies" (that wasn't even a track, it's a public road closed off for race use). He's been racing that hill climb for quite some time. He was going too fast into the turn, and probably steered a little late. Regardless, who cares... he was being competitive and can afford to be as such, he has more than one MR-2. Also, who said he got a S2000? He still races MR-2's?
i'm confused as to why he crashed. Cruve wasn't that sharp. Like the 90's he was taking on earlier. He had a bad approach on that small curve. Too far left.
He should of known this from the beginning. The pre 91 Mr2's have more of a tendency to do this. The 93's and up got a suspension revision, so they're less prone to oversteer.
ah hahahahah... that was fucken stupid. hahaha.... come on man! its an fucken MR for crying out loud. oversteer king. dont even try to get to close to the inside. especially gutter running. thats why it spun. too close to the inside curb, there's a dip there too.
Where's your kill switch? Shoulda asked that before you drove like a noob.

after he braked...let of the throttle and at the same time steered
grayfox13 4 years ago
The reason he spun out was because when he turned he braked and let off throtle which causes MR cars to spin out. Also, Speed was an issue.
