They must be planning something else, or they wouldn't have posted this video (unless they're quickly losing numbers and need more people) - I hope the former is the case!
I don't know how I feel about this "youtube symphony". It seems to me that these performers are all already professionals which means that there isn't a fair enough chance for the up and coming, fresh musicians to get a shot at glory. See I'm all about being fair and this doesn't seem that way to me. But prove me wrong, I'm down for an explanation for all this hullabaloo.
Not all were pros. There were quite a few students up there playing...but what exactly is unfair about holding auditions and letting the best players at those auditions have the spots? Every single person who was interested had an equal opportunity to post a video and have it be heard--no prior qualifications except a minimum age. Are they supposed to say to the professionals "Sorry, you've practiced too much. No audition for you."...? :-)
See if the youtube orchestra actually cared about giving everyone a chance they wouldn't be so blatantly rude by saying that there is a minimum age for each player auditioning.
And the other thing is, nobody told me about any auditions. They excluded me on purpose, but that is ok because I am too good for this symphony of has beens and never was'.
The only reason I knew was because of a link posted on a friend's Facebook page. It was just kind of them doing their advertising, and the ones who happened to see it chose whether to audition.
no one was directly notified it was more of a first come first serve type of thing if you didn't see it in time it's no reason to throw a fit about it now. if ur so good that ur better than these people then why are you throwing a fit about not being able to play with them?
I didn't know there was a minimum age either, but there was someone who got in who was under 18. I forget his name, but he played cello and was 15. I was going to try out, but figured I wouldn't even get close to making it, so why bother?
Well, could be connected to what one of my music class teachers once said - before getting the mitten first time, you can't make really music. Then we laughed, now those of us, who are musicians, found, this is true. I'm playing the recorder for eleven years now; but not before I was terribly in love with a cellist and got rejected (because as I later found out, she had a boyfriend) my playing got suddenly appreciated and I got accepted to our orchestra, despite recorders being generally banned.
I don't know...I'm about your age and I play clarinet in my school's Symphonic Band. I would do it just for the hell of it! Who cares what age you are!? Go for it!!!!
Woah? Are they going to create a new one??? Because if the deadline is after august, I can finally get over the age limit!! Let this start once again. The first one was AWESOME.
@Supuhstar well actually it is not a song because of not haveing lyrics but because it does not follow the formal guidlines of how a song should be composed. apart from that I would consider it a symphony for its complete title says Internet Symphony "Eroica".
what's gonna happen with this? they going to continue with the current syphony or make a new one? honestly i want to know, they played such amazing music

There was a minimum age? I don't think there was ... I saw a few 7 year olds auditioning.
But then again, I don't think anyone under the age of 18 got through.
ProfessorPiano 2 years ago
Rats.... I'm twelve, and I play the violin. Well, I guess just being in an orchestra and not a symphony is just fine for now.

One kid was 15. He played the cello.
I think the minumum age was 14.

don't believe there was a minimum age, though i'd assume one would need a parents permission under the age of 18
drumstyx6464 2 years ago
you need to be at least 14
midnightsviola525600 2 years ago
Haha, ya I guess. Maybe one day I will get to get out a camera and audition. But I doubt they would accept me because I am 12... ^.^

The song is internet symphony number 1by the youtube symphony orchestra

The official piece title is "Eroica". It's not a song, because there are no lyrics, so it is referred to as a "piece". ;3
