What a pity that this music has almost disappear. With just a handful of musicians, and the feeling that they have!
Wooow--THIS IS CARLOS SANTOS SINGING--This man has performed with so many groups is incredible--You really got to be good to get up on stage with so many known bands and groups--Ths time with this superstar JOE CUBA--Great stuff--
Wow Phil Diaz is the best one that I've heard Bivrafonistas!. Many techniques of execution, contemporary Louie Ramirez & Tito Puente, Bivráfono players, all influenced by the Grand Cal Tjader (Master of Cu - Bop and Afro-Cuban Jazz)
@gomerijos Tito Puente also said that for him, Cal was the best player in Jazz Latino Bivrafono, technically no one can overcome, I said that Tito learned from Cal, but Tito sim was influenced by the style of play even as Cal This performer after, his melodic passages in rich and varied timbres,,
Johnny Conga turned me on to this video of Phil Diaz. I wish I would have met him back in the day. He played the Vibes con gusto as they should be played. Vaya - Steve Pouchie - Bronx Vibes
Phil Diaz was my second musical mentor in playing music. I was in his Latin Jazz Sextet when i was just 16 years old in the Bronx...Phil was a serious musician and a great mentor...Thank You Phil-RIP..."JC" Johnny Conga
Hi I am Lisa Levine. I am Joe Cuba's daughter. I am trying to get copies of a bunch of videos. I especially would love all you filmed here in Philadelphia if you could make me a copy. I would reimburse your expenses. My brother was with him here so it is especailly sentimental to me. Please let me know if you can. I would greatly apprecialte it!!
I'm his son...Played timbales with the band from '79 or 80-82 then I went into the US NAVY and back with the band from '87 till I think about 90 or so...

Barretto sustituye a Mongo.

@caribemusic Cal Tjader himself expressed that Tito Puente was his major influence in respect to the use of the vibrophone in the latin jazz.
