Tuve la dicha de conocer aTjader cuando vino a PR y altenar con su grupo..De hecho El me expreso que cuando estaba en NY como percusionista fue que escho a Puente en el vibrafono.Despues de esto fue que junto a Al Mckibbon (bajo) grabo con Mongo y Bobo,y a Puente no le gusto ,por lo que tanto Mongo como Bobo dejaron la orquesta(1957).

Barretto sustituye a Mongo.

Wow Phil Diaz is the best one that I've heard Bivrafonistas!. Many techniques of execution, contemporary Louie Ramirez & Tito Puente, Bivráfono players, all influenced by the Grand Cal Tjader (Master of Cu - Bop and Afro-Cuban Jazz)

I'm his son...Played timbales with the band from '79 or 80-82 then I went into the US NAVY and back with the band from '87 till I think about 90 or so...
