@flygonbreloom Yes, it's 16 colours, but you can create more colours by using interlacing. Like Sacreleases said, one block of pixels (one char) have two colours and it's easy to create colour gradients between foreground/bg by using ASCII chars.
16 colors that are pre-defined that is and each "pixel" is actually a block of pixels that make up a fixed-width font character :) Each "pixel" can have two colors. 1 of 16 for the "foreground" and only 1 of 8 of those 16 for the "background" hehe.
@sacreleases You can use all 16 for foreground AND background if you turn off the blinking effect. You can also vary the shade of each of the 16 colors by your selection of characters (shaded blocks, in this case)
