On na engines a good panel filter works and on a turbo engine with a big intercooler is were cone filters work i should been doing this business for years.
@camtimeing I had better results from a cosworth panel filter on my impreza sti than I did a cone filter, so much more responsive with the panel filter.
Why are people so obsessed with which intakes give you which amount of horsepower? You are never going to see more than 5hp coming from just an intake, so I don't see anything wrong with buying one just for the sound.
Youre an idiot. The Simota is NOT REAL carbon fiber. lol. Its made out of the "graphite hybird" shit with fiberglass backer for thickness (cheap stuff)
Anybody who believes that this intake will add horsepower and driveability to your car will also believe they are getting "top quality Carbon fiber".
This intake was designed and marketed towards the average 19 year olds paycheck.
PS been racing motocross (riding still) since the 70's.
@pressrolls Well said, they use the same contrick marketing as K&N. Aimed at people who don't know how engines work and think it increases performance. The original paper element passes more air than the engine can use due to a huge surface area. The housing is designed to create a vacuum and speed up the airflow.
no induction kit can do anything about underhood temperatures u twat the carbon just helps to deflect heat from the filter stop making ur self look stupid!
the cf intake provides the same power gains as any other cai but by maintaining directional airflow it manages to avoid the low end torque loss that the other cai's suffer from
@tjblader What rubbish. Air flows ONE WAY on an intake and that is IN to the engine, learn how an engine works you idiot! Show me one engine that blows air out through the intake!!! You really don't have a clue and you are the ideal customer for overpriced junk like this. You don't know what it does so defend being conned.
@urbex2007 by the way, laminar or "directional" airflow increases the amount of air entering the manifold... as opposed to turbulent airflow which is NOT directional. The idea is that the directional airflow increases the amount of oxygen in the cylinder relative to turbulent airflow. Unfortunately it doesn't end up working out and the gruppeM/simota intakes just end up destroying your low end and giving you small if any increases on the high end. Suck it fag
But there is no proof of that, despite people taking their cars to a rolling road. They just don't want to admit to mates that noise doesn't mean power and they have wasted loads of money.
i agree with you definatly, on normal k+n open cone filters they claim 4-5bhp gains im always very skeptical with claimed power increases and dont really believe they do make that much differance.
I found with the simota that you can feel a little more urgancy in the upper rev range. But like you say theres no way you could know exactly how much youve gained unless you do a rolling road,
But the rest of the pipe and air filter housing does, so it's pointless UNLESS you have carbon fibre right to the engine. It DOES conduct heat by the way. Never believe wild claims in shops.

Paper air filters are by far the best thing to use on any car

The underhood temp while sitting at a railroad crossing in the summer is enough to melt any epoxy resin used in (real) carbon fiber construction.
And your sucking that hot air directly into the engine through a short straw.
Someday (maybe) you will realize that these intakes are 99% useless in REAL WORLD driving conditions.
Dynos (for these intakes) is MEANINGLESS. Do you drive around with your hood open and a big fan blowing constant air at it?
Its just for looks and sound.
pressrolls 2 years ago
@pressrolls
oh yeah? melt the epoxy resin? umh... that's why they make motorbikes exhausts with carbon fiber....

Youre all morons.
SRI's are junk. All for looks and sound.
tfblader - "avoid loss of torque" ....and DESTROY top end rev out! In cars that make their peak output at high RPM, whats the point???
88laney - its not real carbon fiber. (Fiberglass with fake aramid cover)
And even if it were, it does NOTHING against underhood temperatures.

short ram intake = shorter path for hot air into engine.
Simota is a joke. People like the sound, so foolish.

has this worked on you e46 - ihave an e39 525 and want a SIMOTA - any power change (that you can feel) or is it jsut cosmetically sounding better?

a Carbon Box is not for a lot of Hp, its for a better Sound!

right more for sound less for +hp but you can gain a few if u have a good intake!

Supposedly on my clio 172 they add 13bhp depending on conditions, i personally wouldnt of said it did add that much but maybe 7-8

Well, actually carbon doesn't transfer heat like an aluminum or plastic intake.
Although if you're sucking hot air in, you're not really going to gain anything.
T88M3 3 years ago
that really depends on the fiber but mostly on the resin that hardens the fiber...there´s fenolic resin for high temperatures
doldei 3 years ago
But the rest of the pipe and air filter housing does, so it's pointless UNLESS you have carbon fibre right to the engine. It DOES conduct heat by the way. Never believe wild claims in shops.
urbex2007 2 years ago
yes that's true...the hot air can get in and makes you lose hp...so that is why carbon fiber is not good
sweetsmilerz 3 years ago
carbon fiber intakes makes you lose more power
sweetsmilerz 3 years ago
is that due to it sucking in warm air from engine or some other reason? please explain?
scorpio1066 3 years ago
yeah u want cold air be sucked in
unknown9115 3 years ago
but not for the fact that theyre made in CF ...but because of the cold air intake and the poor heat shielding

Gruppe m is better! :P That is basically a replica of one.

Are you dumb? Simota = Same as Gruppe M.
Gruppe M is over priced carbon fiber intake that offers the same result as any other intakes.

@M3EXCELLENCE Wrong. Simota = Clone of GruppeM.
GruppeM is over rated anyway. Everyone that has it says its garbage and its all sound no power.
