This church is so blessed to have a music program like this.....everything that has been posted here is great. I hope those parishioners appreciate it.
You're interpretation is spot-on (this is a favorite Christmas piece of mine to perform, also), but I am disappointed that an organ with the scope of that Steere does not have at least one - and preferably two - dedicated 32" stops (I know you get my drift!) Play on, brother.
Perhaps it's one of the most difficult chorals from this book, but certainly not so difficult, because the Dupré's chorals have been written to be less difficult than the Bach's Orgelbüchlein.
I've played a few of them, including this one. The thing which difficult about this particular choral isn't the pedal part by itself, or the hand part by itself, it's just coordinating the two together which is a little tricky. :D
I haven't played the Cortege and Litany in years - I'll have to "dust it off" one of these days. Thanks for viewing and your comments. Greetings from New Jersey, USA.
I have just viewed several of your posts. Got to say I enjoyed them. The choir? Any professionals in there? Oh, and the camera views are nice. Really like the one from above. Wish I was a bit closer to Morristown so I could swing by one Sunday morn.
Thanks for viewing. If you ever do get to Morristown I'm "on the bench" every Sunday for the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist. Stop up and say "hello" - best wishes.
Thanks for your observations. I try to make the shots interesting. Have the viewer see things from a different-than-normal perspective. In addition, hopefully enjoyable.
All of the praise is richly deserved...I've never heard a better performance. The rubato is masterful!

Thanks for viewing and your kind comments. 'Tis a pity the Steere doesn't have a real 32', only a Resultant.

Very cool, God bless you

This is really a very very very difficult piece! You play it with ease and precision like no other.

My book of the chorals says it's supposed they're supposed to be introductory pieces for Bach's literature. :)

That's right. Do you play them ? I tried to play them without the pedal part, and I'm disappointed: they're not so beautiful.

Precisely.

@Bachlives2: Yah, it IS a difficult piece. A lot going on. I still have not come close to being able to play it!

Wonderful piece! I'm working on it so I can play it Christmas Eve. Some of the harmonies are absolutely luscious.

It's a gem. I've been doing this on Christmas Eve (prelude or communion music) for as long as I can remember.

One of my favorite Dupré pieces. Simple (or rather uncomplicated), elegant, & atmospheric: definitely a "sweet joy."

Beautiful...I love your organ.

If you didn't get a chance already, the full specification of the organ is listed: above right, "About This Video" click "More". Thanks for watching.

I have to say you use the most interesting camera angles. They really capture the look and feel of the organ as well as acoustic highlights.

I certainly agree - I always include it somewhere on Christmas Eve (Prelude, Communion music).
