A correction: I believe this episode is actually from 1967, as they re-did the set for the 1967-'68 season, the last daytime season on CBS (the prime time version on CBS ended with the 1966-'67 season).
Note to Cris43130: No, TTTT spent most of its CBS daytime run at 3:00 ET/2:00 CT. The 2:30 ET/1:30 CT slot was occupied by "Art Linkletter's House Party".
The 2:00 ET/1:00 CT slot was occupied by "Password" and later by "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing".
When TTTT left CBS in September 1968 that network would go 3-1/2 years with no game shows at all on their schedule, although a lot of their affiliates carried syndicated game shows such as TTTT.
Goodson/Todman must have remembered Ms. Pennington, for she was probably offered a modeling job on the "New" "Price Is Right" in 1972, perhaps not even having to audition for it, based on her appearance here!
Tom Poston, Peggy Cass, Orson bean and Kitty Carlisle were the definitive "TTTT" panel.
I recall watching the 1990 revival when, during a sweeps week, that panel was reunited (Carlisle was a regular on that version as well). The chemistry between the four was so good you'd think they last worked together just 18 days ago, and not 18 years ago!
I'm no expert, but from what I know, Janice is a fascinating persona. In addition to the facts mentioned below -- her tenure as the longest and eldest model on "The Price is Right," and a Playboy Playmate -- she wrote a best-seller in the mid '90's, "Lover, Husband, Spy," in which she alleged that her disappeared husband was a CIA or secret agent. .
@saml760 there is also reports saying she was let go from the Price is Right along with Kathleen Bradley after testifying against Bob Barker in the case made against him by former model Holly Hallstrom
In those days, "To Tell the Truth" still had a primary sponsor, so the daytime version aired a 15-second spot for a product from that sponsor. That was a common practice for CBS daytime shows during the 1950s and 1960s.
How come so rough the quality of this video? I see this was recorded off the Game Show Network, so it should be clearer than it is. Or was there a problem perhaps with your satellite dish or cable signal at the time this aired?
Because my copy is a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of whoever originally recorded it. I bet there were a few bad VCR's along the way as well, as there were several instances I'd get a tape full of episodes that had consistently bad quality even though I knew that person's own copies were good.
Intresting considering what would happen in the near future. Her husband would simply vanish without a trace. This is from when GSN was Game Show Network and was great! Thanks for posting this interesting clip.

I recall TTTT airing at 3PM eastern, which would have put it opposite General Hospital on ABC, but it may have been bumped to 2:30 at some point.

I believe the nighttime version of "TTTT" went color in the Fall of 1965 but that the daytime show didn't follow suit until September of 1966.

Janice Pennington was a BARKER'S BEAUTY from 1972-2000 when she was fired for being "too old".

When did they change the set to that ugly white, and change the theme? I thought it was 1967.
someguy23475 2 years ago
1962, I think.
Hondo20132 2 years ago
I'm talking about the final theme, which I know is present in the 1968 daytime finale. I believe the set was changed at the same time.

I have looked everywhere and have found nothing about whatever became of Glen Jacobsen.
Much is known about her second husband and third husband, but some Janice biographies don't even MENTION Glen Jacobsen.
Does anyone know where he is?

Bud Collyer died the following yearway too young.

Rare to see a color videotape of the original run.
Wonder how many more are in the archives. Usually we see a black and white kinescope.

Bud night to long after this, didn't he?

Why'd they take a break right after the open?

To Tell the Truth meets The Newlywed Game.
Cris43130 3 years ago
@Cris43130 Didn't "To Tell The Truth" run head-to-head against "Newlywed Game" (in most of the country) for a time in 1967 and 1968??

The one who disappeared was actually her second husband, Fritz Sternberger (I think that was his last name), and not the one featured in this clip.

GSN returned to the Collyer version on their late-night version, starting in 1957.
