I love these guys. I've only seen them twice. But I've been a fan since the early 70s. Steve has the best voice. Harmony abounds! Just love it. Thanks for the page. I'll be back often.
To hear new live concert recordings by Kansas especially with Steve Walsh's voice in his prime in the 70's is always something I strive for, anything else isn't worth listening to,thanks for putting up this precious gem.
proud to say i was at this concert kansas supported rory gallagher just a white punk on dope wayback then and have to say to this day that WAS the dream showbill of all time ps next time thru town kansas opened for hawkwind @ the auditorium theatre whoa talk about a mescaline dream come true - literally and figuratively kansas was quite a badass band live t/y for the 'tubeage
You're welcome. Great show to have attended. I saw them 6 times from '76-'96. Awesome every single time! Thanks for the "Tubes" reference. I saw them back in the day at The University Of Maryland Student Union Building. Talk about "theatrics"!
Robbie of course...,wow this is a treasure....love to hear how this progressed as a song from begining until two for the show,I personnal think the lyrics are great and place this song in there top ten...when ever I drift away from there music this is the song that can pull me back...Dude......, you have some great pictures....
Thanks and I guess your a big fan by your screen name and if you've scanned through my uploads you've seen that I am an equally big fan! I'm getting ready to post some video of a show from 1997 that hasn't been seen by anyone yet. I've got more great pictures to use and a couple more really great vids coming. One is from Canada Jam and the other comes from the Steve Morse era! If you truly are a Kansas nut then you should subscribe!.....Rick
Wow incredible Rick! I recorded this concert from WXRT some cold night in Chicago around 1977. I must have recorded over it 'cause all Ihave left is Song for America. Great to hear it again!
Great to hear this again.. The words aren't bad! Thanks for taking the time to get the right pics in the right places, very enjoyable to see as well as hear. (best wishes from West London Kansas fan)
Thanks Rick, I like this song. Kansas wouldn't be the same without some obscure songs and awkward lyrics. Steve must have been at least somewhat proud of it to sing it live years after it was produced. I'm glad they made this song the way it is.
It's a great song don't get me wrong and a couple of my most favorite Kansas tunes were written by Walsh. However they are not in my top 10 because of the lyrics.
I'm not worked up Phil just stating my opinion. I just told someone I'd rather hear Walsh singing crappy lyrics than hear a run of the mill vocalist singing the best lyrics ever written! I totally agree with you. Great Keyboard player and with me there isn't even an argument: the greatest voice in Rock history period!
More than anything Rick I'm reacting to the suggestion that this song could "probably use a rewrite." That statement is patently ridiculous. I have strong opinions about lyrics in rock music...and in general my opinion is "who cares?"
I don't listen to music with my head,,,never have. It hits me in the chest or lower...I hear melodies...I don't get hung up on what's being said. Livgren probably is an exception but in general musicians are a bunch of maniacal reprobates whose opinions should
be carefully examined as the rantings of madmen (slight irony). Not "pearls of wisdom" that should be taken all that serious. That being said I LIKE vague lyrics...nobody runs around quoting them like religious statements. It just SOUNDS good.Ever see the comments on some Sabbath vids? It's laughable. People get all worked up over whats being said or not being said. Rewrite....phooey.
Easy big guy! I'm with you on a lot of musicians being reprobates and some are ranting madmen but most are just guys (or gals) just like you and me and their opinions are as varied as the songs you cover on your channel. I like vague and I like deep when it comes to lyrics. Anyone who loves Yes like I do can't be too serious about the lyrical content! That was one guys opinion that you either agree with or you don't. I'm kind of on the fence between you two.The lyrics on your vids are awesome!
Sweet!

I really like the melody & the way Steve sings it.
The lyrics...they could probably use a rewrite.

I agree! Steve isn't much of a wordsmith and pales in comparison next to Kerry!

C'mon...He's a great keyboard player and arguably the greatest voice in American rock history....I'm not gonna get worked up over lyrics.

AND he worked the word bosom into this song....how cool is that?
Philmacrakken 1 year ago
@Philmacrakken no doubt
the word bosum in any lyric rates instant
classicness ... how can it not?
