proud to say i was at this concert kansas supported rory gallagher just a white punk on dope wayback then and have to say to this day that WAS the dream showbill of all time ps next time thru town kansas opened for hawkwind @ the auditorium theatre whoa talk about a mescaline dream come true - literally and figuratively kansas was quite a badass band live t/y for the 'tubeage

Wow incredible Rick! I recorded this concert from WXRT some cold night in Chicago around 1977. I must have recorded over it 'cause all Ihave left is Song for America. Great to hear it again!

Thanks Rick, I like this song. Kansas wouldn't be the same without some obscure songs and awkward lyrics. Steve must have been at least somewhat proud of it to sing it live years after it was produced. I'm glad they made this song the way it is.

It's a great song don't get me wrong and a couple of my most favorite Kansas tunes were written by Walsh. However they are not in my top 10 because of the lyrics.

I'm not worked up Phil just stating my opinion. I just told someone I'd rather hear Walsh singing crappy lyrics than hear a run of the mill vocalist singing the best lyrics ever written! I totally agree with you. Great Keyboard player and with me there isn't even an argument: the greatest voice in Rock history period!

More than anything Rick I'm reacting to the suggestion that this song could "probably use a rewrite." That statement is patently ridiculous. I have strong opinions about lyrics in rock music...and in general my opinion is "who cares?"

I don't listen to music with my head,,,never have. It hits me in the chest or lower...I hear melodies...I don't get hung up on what's being said. Livgren probably is an exception but in general musicians are a bunch of maniacal reprobates whose opinions should

Easy big guy! I'm with you on a lot of musicians being reprobates and some are ranting madmen but most are just guys (or gals) just like you and me and their opinions are as varied as the songs you cover on your channel. I like vague and I like deep when it comes to lyrics. Anyone who loves Yes like I do can't be too serious about the lyrical content! That was one guys opinion that you either agree with or you don't. I'm kind of on the fence between you two.The lyrics on your vids are awesome!
