Thank you for this and all the other videos that you put up. I really enjoyed this video and hope we can see more of these vids that show decorating step by step in the future. Keep up the awesome job!!
Lol home goods and target aren't on a budget that's where most people get stuff for their room they are probably paying like $30 for each pillow they get and calling it a "budget"...
Totally COOL! I wish you were around when I was in my dorm, it was a depressing building & dorm, needless to say my room-mate was another Bore! Love UR idea regarding the window treatments & bedding....hugs from across the miles....OLE~
Okay, thank you so much for showing me how to do this. I have a home that I purchased from the original owner and the decor is from the late 70's. However, money is tight, so your ideas are needed and very helpful. Any suggestions on a cost effective way for flooring over concrete besides carpet?
Ok I just replayed.. they weren't fuzzy curly cue.. they were flaps of material all over them ..lol .. one was a wonderful muted green. It would look like a little green shrub. Lol
When u were at ikea... u passed by the cutest fuzzy (curley cue material) been bag chairs on a shelf. They were so modern and pretty. Lol I wanted u to grab that for ur cart. Lol
I found your channel through the Trejos and I am so impressed! I am studying for a degree in interior design currently and it is so awesome to see a well established designer's ideas and how they work! Thank you for sharing :)
Love this! I wish I would have seen it before my son and his roommate let me decorate their freshman dorm room. I don't have an Ikea or Home Goods where I live (Memphis) so I made do with Target and Walmart. I spent hours on HGTV's Rate My Space/dorm rooms searcing for inspiration pictures. I'm going use your idea of making a throw so the beds match for their sophomore room this fall.
i k this may sound roude but how can i get you to redue my room its so old and boring . and its not orginized at all because it is soo tiny. But i really want to k how you could do my room.
i k this may sound roude but how can i get you to redue my room its so old and boring . and its not orginized at all because it is soo tiny. But i really want to k how you could do my room.
i like your ideas but students dont have that much of a big budget to start with to decorate their rooms. Like I have about 150$ to spend on my bed, mattress, table, chairs, lamps, cooking pots and everything. Even Ikea is too expensive sometimes.
I really enjoyed this video! Thank you so much! You deserve more subscribers.:D. I loved the "behind the scenes" video. You showed me that in designing, when you can't always get what you want, you have no other choice other than to improvise and make the best of what you have. Either way, i am know excited to do crazy things to make my room look like i want it. Possibly cutting expensive comforters? lol
@OhMyOrDz LOL... YES, cut up your expensive comforter if you need to! I'm glad you got the message here. It's all about improvising! Good job... and good luck! RR
Great video as always and even better! Also, I was surprised you said you are not an artist and that what's in your head does not transform into your hand. Wow, this is how I feel about myself. I love interior design but I can't draw... therefore my dream to become a designer almost lost... London has many Art schools but to enter it's almost like "must" you have to draw well! Rebeca, I want to ask you,do you actually have a formal education in ID and do you think that is a must for a designer?
@annaz2879 If you can hold on for a few weeks... like, after I get back from my trip to Italy... I am going to make a video about that very subject. I get asked all the time about my background and education. Its a "story" and I prefer to answer the question through a video. Keep your eyes open for that one.... coming soon ;-) RR
I so appreciate you taking the time to show all the detail and work that went into this project. Very helpful to me. I am sitting here having a 'want fit' because you need to be in Arkansas not Texas. (I do love Texas since that is my home state)
RR you are my hero! I love your ideas and am implementing many of them in my own home. I have never thought of taking a photo of the room and drawing my ideas right on it - brilliant! Your talent is immense and you are blessing the lives of others by sharing them with us all!
Thank you so much for this video. I have a QUESTION please ANSWER!
what do you think about white walls?(i think they are a little boring, but also they give a lot of light),what can i do to make them not boring but still have a lot of light in the room),also what about bedding?.is it enough to have 1,& wash it every month,or do u prefer to keep 2 sets(different pattern, but same colors??)if you can respond it'll be great,I live in mexico,&interior design would b more expensive &hard 2 find here.

I loved when you were cutting the duvet cover, and you were like "It's kind of scary to cut this thing. Just be a big girl." Haha, I love self-pep-talks. :D
@SuperSanchez21 I know.... scary hugh??? I'm like that.. I eat in the grocery store too before paying for stuff. Of course I always pay for it but I often snack or drink something while shopping. Its pretty liberating actually... to know the security people are watching you the whole time your shopping... to see if you pay for that $.98 soda or water ...lol ... keeps them on their toes :-) RR
@robesondesign LOL I don't often do that once in a while. I look around if anybody is watching as I am opening some socks or whatever to see how big or small they are scared of getting caught. But never do it with the food. Has anybody ever told you something because you are opening things?
I love, love, love this! Thanks for showing behind the scenes! I shop in all the same places. I love to see how you put all of this together, from beginning to end. GREAT!
Hi Rebecca I was just wondering how often u change ur decor in ur home and do u also change ur comforter/ bedspread in ur room by season? I constantly want to change my colors in my home according to season but am on a budget. I am obsessed w/ decor. Please let me kno easy or less expensive ways to do that. Thank u and love ur bids!!

still love all your videos ;-) ... great thoughts and great work
Yet.. I still think their room needed some shelves in there..
@sumbook Glad you liked it Z... Some comment, they want less explanation & more entertainment, while others like yourself, like to know what my thought process was behind my designs. On this project It's an experiment to try and hit all bases by creating one short before and after video then create and link 6 related videos at the end for those who want more. Can't do it every time. VERY time consuming and expensive to create. So... enjoy this one :-). Thanks for the feedback ...RR
I totally understand how time consuming it is .. to explain ur thoughts and how u design..

but.. thanks for taking the time and effort R..... I enjoyed them ...
@robesondesign Becca, I was thinking of these framed art prints, I have digital paintings, but didn't find a website that prints them and sells them in stores, do you have an idea?
I LOVE this!! Look how you can use technology while shopping. her bedding on phone. Amazing to have you share the inside story. I don't know any one who does that. Totally fun to see the raw bantering between mom and daughter too. So nice of you Rebecca to give your time and creative ideas to us. Complete strangers.. although I feel like I know you(teehee) I feel inspired to do more in my own home. You are helping me far more than you know. Thank you so much.
I know that a commitment to youtube can be time consuming. So, I wanted to say Thank You for sharing such a beautiful room. May God bless you and your interior design business! What an inspiration. Can you do videos on how to add detail to room over time on a budget? For example, if you had little money available, what would you purchase first and so forth. Most of us DIYers develop rooms over a long time span.
i have to say again... i LOVE the shower curtain! lol. and the comforter. i love the mod-like style of it. where did she get it and do you know if they have ones in similar styles?
@MsBinkies , Thanks Doll... The shower curtain is by "splashology" . If you google it , you'll find a lot of great modern designs with some unusual color combinations :-). The Comforter was from Macy's Home ... last years collection... it's been discontinued. Hope I've inspired you to try some new ideas!!! RR
2/27/11..... Hey Guys, I'm going to be working all day on Monday but please leave me your comments and questions... I'll try to respond after work tomorrow. ..... I hope you are finding inspiration thought these videos and are ready to get up and get going on your own homes! Blessings... Rebecca
The room turned out beautifully!!! I loved how you share your plan (with the photos) in this video. I saw the reveal video first. Do you find the visualizing and problem-solving aspects of your design jobs energizing? I think I would! I was jazzed just watching! Thank you for sharing this job -- a labor of love for your daughter -- with us!
Thanks so much for sharing your thought process! I LOVE the end result and wondered how you made those curtains to match (so glad you told on this video)! It's amazing to see how you changed this room with a budget in mind!
Hey Rebecca! I love interior decorating and design! Was it your college major, because I would like it to be mine (maybe) when I reach that age... but I'm not good at drawing! That's the only thing thats stopping me, and I don't really like drawing either, but I love decorating my bedroom and everything... What do I do?!
@emzannex Go for it!! I can't draw either. Now days, a working knowledge of 3D software programs is far more valuable that the ability to draw. Its more about giftedness and passion. If you feel like design is something you are naturally good at, and if you feel driven to make things better... where ever you go, than follow your dream!!!
that remark you made about robbing banks reminded me of something my uncle used to say when his kids asked for toys he would say " you know when i go to work it doesnt mean i go around robbing banks" :) thanks for the reminder of old times
I love this! I just got my first apartment and have been slowly trying to turn it into a place that feels like home. This video taught me so much! Thank you!
I loved seeing your thought process but, why couldn't you just put one of the shower curtains on each side of the window? Also, if someone cut my blanket in half - I'd cry for a year. :L
This is great to see your thought process, but would love to have a tour of the finished room? the pictures don't do it justice, another video please, Great work. XXXX
Oh so sorry @1509shirley I assumed the people watching this video would have first seen the install video. In the description box below this video, there is a link to the finished room. It will all make more sense once you see that one ... Thanks for asking. You really need to see how it all turned out! Its called " College Room Makeover by Interior Designer"
Thank you so much!!!

I loved seeing your thought process but, why couldn't you just put one of the shower curtains on each side of the window? Also, if someone cut my blanket in half - I'd cry for a year. :L
