what's wrong with hoth it was a smart idea... sure inhospitable and barren but that's the point... yeah let's put our base in freaking a populated planet... if it already is inhospitable and basically a valley of death outside the base why would the Imperials think they would totally head there? Also come on i can guarantee it's pretty damn hard to find a a place surrounded in blizzards 24/7
Lemme see, Episode One had Jar-Jar, Midi-chlorians, and an immaculate conception. I can't think of any way to fuck up the Star Wars Universe any worse. I know people hated the Ewoks, cause I did too. But, did anyone realize how bad Stormtroopers sucked? They couldn't hit anything and their armor did squat. It was the worst camo color in the universe. I guess it was less expensive than green, brown, or black.
Prequels get too much hate than they deserve, though I too think that Episode I looked like it was filmed just to fill the blank. I also think they are right about the 3D. I watched it, yes, but as my dad said, 3D just couldn't reach the hyperspace.
@SuperDoggieDiva Agreed! I like em all personally. Only thing I had a real problem with was the midi-chlorian stuff... Up until that point, the Force seemed to have a mysterious, supernatural aspect to it.
Admittedly that Vader-Kenobi duel was lame, but I'll take the lightsaber duels of Empire over those of the prequels any day. Although they were no doubt as choreographed and practised they didn't *look* like it. Those of the prequels were like watching a couple of gay ballet dancers prance around.
@flamewhisker It wasn't that bad. Yes, you could clearly see that the movie wasn't made for 3D... but whatever. I enjoyed seeing the movie plastered onto a huge screen :-)
I liked the originals back before Lucas added all the new CGI and crap. I liked it when he had to work with the technology of the day and it was and still is amazing. CGI is just a shortcut. Lucas had real talent back in the day. Now he is just remaking them and making them worse.
lol the prequels were absolute shit. like, honestly someone took a fucking shit on a shit, ate it, shit it out, then fucking shat (shitted?) more shit all over the shit
@Matticitt that's because they weren't lightsaber battles. they were conversations.

The prequel supporter says luke is a Flash gordon ripoff, but SW Ep 4 was 1977, Flash Gordon was 1980. How could Luke be a ripoff of something that came AFTER SW? Fucking retards.
Star Wars Fans & Battlefront Fans our Campaign is in need of your help, it has been 7 years since Battlefront II. I just watched the Prequel trilogy expecting it to be a case of 'Oh, just no tht same as the original'. Nope, they are genuinely bad, and have completely flat characters with equally flat acting, just to name one flaw.
Only the Emperor should be strong enough with the dark side to produce force lighting. If Dooku can do it and Anakin becomes more powerful then Dooku then why can't Anakin produce force lighting? @lambdacstrikesback The only reason i like star wars is because of the actor who voices the clones....so i'd rather the storm troopers to be clones....but of course GAMES had to change that with their stories on how only a few clones were left and the clone trooper program was shut down.... Big fan of star wars battlefront 2 and Force unleashed :3
@WW2GermanMilitaria i think it would be better if lucas made a new series about some alternative universe with kotor style but also has clone army because i love clone/mandalorian stuff too. ex: sith empire vs clone army or smthn like that. becase i dont care about the integrity of SW:universe anymore thanks to lucas.
@lambdacstrikesback I was hoping something AFTER the fall of the empire, what happens next? They got novels, why not use idea's for that? I mean, i'm so interested in what happens during the new creation of the new republic, will there be Ex- Imperial forces fighting guerilla warfare? Trying to assasinate senators to stop the formation? What about the New Jedi Order? The new republic should be atleast a 3D animated series after the clone wars.
@WW2GermanMilitaria Star Wars had so much potential, for example my 2 fav SW games are jedi knight series and republic commando. Both the future events or the past event before old republic is fun. but instead of doing those as Tv shows he does "clone wars". anakin is fighting the whole war himself in that show wtf. The only way to have some good old SW fun is novels or comic books. And i have yet to read darth revan or darth plegaus novels i hope theyll be good.
@Arcexey Actually he never said he doesn't remember R2, he said "I don't seem to remember ever owning a droid" which he didn't. R2 was Padme's droid, loaned to Anakin just as he loaned her Threepio.Obi-Wan was forbidden possessions by the Jedi Code, so even his R4 droid was something he used but didn't own.
And when the heck did the Emperor ever say Sith didn't use sabers? Vader was a Sith since day one and used a saber in Episode 4.
@Kraschman1111 Yes or no, in A New Hope was it clear that Obi wan had no clue who or what R2D2 was, didn't recognize it, and upon discovering its mission and learning of Leia - whom he did know - still made no connection? This must mean Obi wan is mind-bogglingly forgetful since he was in constant contact with this droid that saved their life and was Anakin's companion.
In RotJ, the Emperor calls Luke's weapon a 'Jedi weapon.' Vader used to be a jedi, which is why he still uses one.
@Arcexey Or else Obi-Wan was trying to spread a little disinformation to keep Luke hidden and out of the loop as long as possible. All part of that "certain point of view" deal.
Luke's saber IS a Jedi weapon. Jedi use blue and green sabers, Sith use red. It's like saying all lions are cats but not all cats are lions. Jedi lightsabers aren't the ONLY lightsabers...
@Kraschman1111 Keeping him out of the loop of -WHAT?- Luke doesn't even know who Darth Vader is yet, and how would Obi wan simply remembering R2D2 give away anything about their relationship? Not to mention Darth Vader wasn't conceptualized by Lucas to become Luke's father until VI's script, meaning there was nothing to give away in IV, and no reason, whatsoever, not to acknowledge R2D2. See how far you have to stretch it for the prequels to make sense?
@Arcexey The whole point of keeping Luke out of the loop was to keep him out of the war and hidden for as long as possible. It was the whole reason he took him to hide out on Tatooine in the first place. The whole point of splitting the twins up was to keep them hidden, knowing that they would be the linchpins to defeating the Emperor.
@Arcexey Lucas had conceptualized Vader as the father from day one, but it didn't get directly into a script until the second draft of Episode V because he wasn't sure audience's would accept it. The name itself is a play on Dark Father.
@Kraschman1111 There is no such as a sith in the originals, there are just jedi, and so there is no distinction between colors of lightsabers. If you use a lightsaber, you are or were a jedi. Notice the emperor does not even use one, yet he so clearly and fervently did in the past.. apparently?
@Arcexey Afraid you're incorrect here. Vader was always labelled as Dark Lord of the Sith even back to the old promo materials for Star Wars in 77. They used the title even without explaining it, a Lucas specialty. Lucas has always maintained that Jedi use blue and green and Sith use red sabers. The Emperor didn't use one because it was all about seducing Luke to join the dark side, same with ROTS until Mace and his gang of Jedi showed to arrest him.
@Kraschman1111 As someone else also pointed out, Vader wasn't originally Luke's dad, that was just bullshit Lucas fed you later on to correct his mistakes.. Darth Vader was originally the name of some other random military character in the original script.
If the whole point was to keep Luke out of the loop, why did Obi wan specifically go out of his way to tell Luke about the clone wars and that there was a mystery about his father that uncle Owen had eluded to?
@Arcexey Obi-Wan was obviously conflicted between wanting Luke out of the loop as long as possible, and let him know his father wasn't the nobody Owen painted him as, so he could be proud of his father.
@Kraschman1111 Obi wan goes out of his way to talk about the past, as me and someone else pointed out, in IV, Vader wasn't Luke's father - there was nothing to keep him out of the loop of! Obi wan eagerly tells him that Owen is hiding the truth.
/watch?v=ukbTFgQ4jxs
And even if none that were true at all, you still have to answer: What does talking about, or simply visually/emotionally recognizing a very, very important droid in his life have anything to do with giving away secrets?
@Kraschman1111 The answer is because Obi wan didn't know what the fuck R2D2 was, because he had never, ever seen him before. And Lucas had to make a square peg fit into a round hole by putting R2D2 in the prequels, and in turn it puts the originals out of sync. And this one of many instances.. that's why the prequels are trash.
@Arcexey The only explanation is that Obi-Wan was suffering from dementia. That's why he let Vader kill him - he knew the end otherwise was not going to be pretty.
@mrjjking77 If we're going to have to stretch it that far just to make prequels work, we might as well just say pokemon were controlling obiwan's actions.
@Kraschman1111 And even if Obi wan didn't wanna talk about that at all, what does telling Luke - or even just reflect upon owning a droid - have anything to do with giving anything away, whatsoever? Besides Leia and Luke's father, Obi wan doesn't seem to care about holding back any information about Luke's past!
And I don't know about any sith posters, but there are 10000 books and content other than the original canon movies that will apply apologetics to all these glaring problems and every
@Kraschman1111 other way in which the selfish prequels attempt to ruin the originals - I don't care about any of that extended shit, I care about the 3 orig films. Pretend you're seeing the originals for the first time, so you have zero knowledge of sith using red and jedi using other colors, and now look at the facts:
Why does the emperor say 'take your jedi weapon' (the second time he refers to it as a jedi weapon)?
If your enemy was in training to become a hogwartz wizard, and he had a wand,
@Kraschman1111 as opposed to your Witch wand, would you continue to refer to his weapon as a Wizard wand? Or just a wand? If the emperor put the emphasis on that the item belonged to LUKE, rather than the emphasis being the item was belonged to JEDI, we wouldn't be talking about this.
If it was 1 or 2 things, I'd call it nick picking. but there are soooooo many. Why did leia say she remembered her mom? who knows!
Obviously the originals were better, but I thought the prequels were pretty good too. I kind of liked all of the political exposition and stuff in them, and how they were based around lots of different characters rather than just a couple.
I grew up watching the original 3 on VHS, for those of you who don't know what that is, VHS was before DVDs and you have a VCR to put them in. But yeah they were awesome with Mark Hamilton, Harrison Ford, Lea (I forget her name) and chewbaca. Then noticed that the last three newer movies haha Jar Jar, notice anything? Yes Jar Jar was before Chewbaca because of Anakin ( Darth Vader) as said in the first 3 movies that came out in the early days of Star Wars. Love them and rode the new 3 D ride too
I don't think the prequels are as bad as everyone says they are. Episode I was the only one that kinda sucked. That said, the original trilogy remains my favorite.
Yep: fighting in the originals SUCKED... they're old men, and ' im luke skywalker, and im a really crappy hero,' in truth, alot of people would want to go with vader if he was their father!
What really killed these films was the fans. I am sorry guys they are all bad if you over analyse everything like in the prequals. The truth is most of you saw the original when you were kids. So now that you are adults you are cynical about the new films even though the problems in the prequals were present in the old movies too. Grow up guys -.-
@zeppage4 Oh I do. I appreciate the originals for being the masterpieces that they are, and the prequels for being the steaming piles of Krayt Dragon poo that they are.
@MirtaGevFett Simply that each of the films have something good to offer, while carrying their own flaws. I mean, the lightsaber fight between Obi-Wan and Vader in ANH...along with their dialogue just doesn't do it for me IMHO. Some may disagree, and that's valid too. Similarly, Attack of the Clone had the cheesiest pickup lines spewing from an over angsty Anakin. I'm just saying each movies has something that's a little off, but I still love all the films. You don't have to like em' equally.
@zeppage4 You say a true star wars fan can appreciate both. what if some one hates the new trilogy and prefers the old one. or the other way around. are they not star wars fans?
@MirtaGevFett moreover, if the message is that 'true star wars fans' appreciate everything that is star wars, must they be forced to like the christimas special? caravan of courage? any subsequent piece of crap Lucas may put out, regardless of its quality?
@MirtaGevFett I'm really not in the mood to call out who is a true fan or not. All I said was there's something to like about each film, and I can't imagine a true fan absolutely hating any of the films. You can appreciate at least something. If you're trying to prove me wrong and argue some point, fine you win. My original statement was wrong, you can hate the prequals and still be a true fan. I'm not in the mood to discuss this further.
@Korint91 first off the swearing was far from needed, second the light saber duels arent suppose to be like they are in the prequels, it is stated in the original's that the lightsaber isnt for offense and isnt really suppose to be used that much, in the perquels a lightsaber is pulled out constantly defeating the purpose of what yoda says.
I'm a HUGE (actually I'm little...) Star Wars fan!!!! And that means I love ALL of it (originals, prequels, clone wars, parodys, serious fanvids etc.) AND I laughed so hard during this vid I nearly dropped my teacup :D
Let's face the fact, that no matter which Episode you like most, we are all fans of the same great story, let's enjoy it ;P
although my favorite episodes are the phantom menace and return of the jedi the begging and ending of the story puts it all together. forget about revenge of the sith or a new hope
who gives a shit wich one out of prequels of orginal is better there still the same story if you watch in order from episode 1 to 6 you will realise that it is one big story trilogy and that there all as good as each other but im only talking of the story. I dont know wich episode has better action or what not
@jxaero55 you're kidding? everyone agrees ep 2 was by far the worst. i even place it in my top five worst movies of all time. it's simple really, people gave way too much authority to george lucas for the prequels and it turned out for the worse. no one was there to tell him no. because of that we have jarjar slipping on crap, no coherent narrative structure and 'convenient' explanations. people who prefer 1/2/3 are morons that should be beaten with their phallic lightsabers they love so much
RD2 can't tell anyone anything because i highly doubt even the most hardcore of fans can translate his beeping noises... also memory erase...

Let's say the convoluted story, terrible acting and horrid cinematography in the prequels is 100% subjective, and we can't judge them on that.
The prequels still are horrible for not conforming to the original plot, something that is objective.
Why doesn't Obi-wan remember R2D2?
Why do Sith use lightsabers when the Emperor clearly said they don't?
How could Leia remember her mom after only 1 sec at age 0?
+Many, many more
These are inexcusable, non-subjective reasons why the prequels are bad.

The whole point of splitting the twins up was to keep them hidden, knowing that they would be the linchpins to defeating the Emperor.
Kraschman1111 4 days ago
@Arcexey Lucas had conceptualized Vader as the father from day one, but it didn't get directly into a script until the second draft of Episode V because he wasn't sure audience's would accept it. The name itself is a play on Dark Father.
Kraschman1111 4 days ago
@Kraschman1111 Wrong, Lucas didn't decide that Vader was Luke's father until after IV was made.
crstfrpancake 4 days ago
@Kraschman1111 There is no such as a sith in the originals, there are just jedi, and so there is no distinction between colors of lightsabers. If you use a lightsaber, you are or were a jedi. Notice the emperor does not even use one, yet he so clearly and fervently did in the past.. apparently?
Arcexey 5 days ago
@Arcexey Afraid you're incorrect here. Vader was always labelled as Dark Lord of the Sith even back to the old promo materials for Star Wars in 77. They used the title even without explaining it, a Lucas specialty. Lucas has always maintained that Jedi use blue and green and Sith use red sabers. The Emperor didn't use one because it was all about seducing Luke to join the dark side, same with ROTS until Mace and his gang of Jedi showed to arrest him.
Kraschman1111 4 days ago
@Kraschman1111 As someone else also pointed out, Vader wasn't originally Luke's dad, that was just bullshit Lucas fed you later on to correct his mistakes.. Darth Vader was originally the name of some other random military character in the original script.
If the whole point was to keep Luke out of the loop, why did Obi wan specifically go out of his way to tell Luke about the clone wars and that there was a mystery about his father that uncle Owen had eluded to?
Arcexey 4 days ago
@Arcexey Obi-Wan was obviously conflicted between wanting Luke out of the loop as long as possible, and let him know his father wasn't the nobody Owen painted him as, so he could be proud of his father.
Kraschman1111 3 days ago
@Kraschman1111 Obi wan goes out of his way to talk about the past, as me and someone else pointed out, in IV, Vader wasn't Luke's father - there was nothing to keep him out of the loop of! Obi wan eagerly tells him that Owen is hiding the truth.
/watch?v=ukbTFgQ4jxs
And even if none that were true at all, you still have to answer: What does talking about, or simply visually/emotionally recognizing a very, very important droid in his life have anything to do with giving away secrets?
Arcexey 3 days ago
@Kraschman1111 The answer is because Obi wan didn't know what the fuck R2D2 was, because he had never, ever seen him before. And Lucas had to make a square peg fit into a round hole by putting R2D2 in the prequels, and in turn it puts the originals out of sync. And this one of many instances.. that's why the prequels are trash.
Arcexey 3 days ago
@Arcexey The only explanation is that Obi-Wan was suffering from dementia. That's why he let Vader kill him - he knew the end otherwise was not going to be pretty.
mrjjking77 1 day ago
@mrjjking77 If we're going to have to stretch it that far just to make prequels work, we might as well just say pokemon were controlling obiwan's actions.
Arcexey 1 day ago
@Arcexey I wasn't serious about that.
mrjjking77 1 day ago
@mrjjking77 I was agreeing with you =)
Arcexey 18 hours ago
@Kraschman1111 And even if Obi wan didn't wanna talk about that at all, what does telling Luke - or even just reflect upon owning a droid - have anything to do with giving anything away, whatsoever? Besides Leia and Luke's father, Obi wan doesn't seem to care about holding back any information about Luke's past!
And I don't know about any sith posters, but there are 10000 books and content other than the original canon movies that will apply apologetics to all these glaring problems and every
Arcexey 4 days ago
@Kraschman1111 other way in which the selfish prequels attempt to ruin the originals - I don't care about any of that extended shit, I care about the 3 orig films. Pretend you're seeing the originals for the first time, so you have zero knowledge of sith using red and jedi using other colors, and now look at the facts:
Why does the emperor say 'take your jedi weapon' (the second time he refers to it as a jedi weapon)?
If your enemy was in training to become a hogwartz wizard, and he had a wand,
Arcexey 4 days ago

CoreyL11 1 week ago
I grew up watching the original 3 on VHS, for those of you who don't know what that is, VHS was before DVDs and you have a VCR to put them in. But yeah they were awesome with Mark Hamilton, Harrison Ford, Lea (I forget her name) and chewbaca. Then noticed that the last three newer movies haha Jar Jar, notice anything? Yes Jar Jar was before Chewbaca because of Anakin ( Darth Vader) as said in the first 3 movies that came out in the early days of Star Wars. Love them and rode the new 3 D ride too
joeyobrian 1 week ago
I don't think the prequels are as bad as everyone says they are. Episode I was the only one that kinda sucked. That said, the original trilogy remains my favorite.

What really killed these films was the fans. I am sorry guys they are all bad if you over analyse everything like in the prequals. The truth is most of you saw the original when you were kids. So now that you are adults you are cynical about the new films even though the problems in the prequals were present in the old movies too. Grow up guys -.-
tyler8222 1 week ago
honestly, i liked all of em', i saw nothin wrong with the originals, or the prequils.
tyler8222 1 week ago
A true Star Wars fan can appreciate both trilogies for what they are.
zeppage4 1 week ago 57
@zeppage4 Oh I do. I appreciate the originals for being the masterpieces that they are, and the prequels for being the steaming piles of Krayt Dragon poo that they are.

MirtaGevFett 1 week ago
@MirtaGevFett Simply that each of the films have something good to offer, while carrying their own flaws. I mean, the lightsaber fight between Obi-Wan and Vader in ANH...along with their dialogue just doesn't do it for me IMHO. Some may disagree, and that's valid too. Similarly, Attack of the Clone had the cheesiest pickup lines spewing from an over angsty Anakin. I'm just saying each movies has something that's a little off, but I still love all the films. You don't have to like em' equally.
zeppage4 6 days ago

@zeppage4 You say a true star wars fan can appreciate both. what if some one hates the new trilogy and prefers the old one. or the other way around. are they not star wars fans?
MirtaGevFett 6 days ago
@MirtaGevFett moreover, if the message is that 'true star wars fans' appreciate everything that is star wars, must they be forced to like the christimas special? caravan of courage? any subsequent piece of crap Lucas may put out, regardless of its quality?
Arcexey 6 days ago
@MirtaGevFett I'm really not in the mood to call out who is a true fan or not. All I said was there's something to like about each film, and I can't imagine a true fan absolutely hating any of the films. You can appreciate at least something. If you're trying to prove me wrong and argue some point, fine you win. My original statement was wrong, you can hate the prequals and still be a true fan. I'm not in the mood to discuss this further.

the light saber duels are better in the prequels, but it was actually only really bad in a new hope, the 2 others were pretty descent actually.

@Korint91 that isnt the point
silents429 1 week ago
@silents429 point of what? im just stating my opinion..... dumbass
Korint91 1 week ago
@Korint91 first off the swearing was far from needed, second the light saber duels arent suppose to be like they are in the prequels, it is stated in the original's that the lightsaber isnt for offense and isnt really suppose to be used that much, in the perquels a lightsaber is pulled out constantly defeating the purpose of what yoda says.
silents429 1 week ago
The light saber duels were the only improvement in the prequels.
