@evolun Hi, The underwater scene's White Balance setting will make up for a slight blue cast while underwater. You can either use the underwater scene mode, which may limit you with other functions, or the Program mode and set the Underwater white balance, which also removes the blue cast.
@xTrueFatex Yes, this camera is not water resistant by any means. If you're in the rain, try to protect it the best you can by covering it with an umbrella and keeping it an some kind of case.
Yes, you will need a waterproof case. It's an accessory that costs about $240. I generally don't recommend bringing digital cameras to the beach because the salt water and sand can be a problem. The case is good for a depth of about 100 meter. There are some cameras that can be submerged without a case, but this isn't one of them.
how accurate are the underwater scene settings? in terms of white balance etc is everything automated?

Will it damage the camera if I used it under the rain without the case??

Correction on the depth possible with the Canon cases. They are good for 30 to 40 meter, which is about 100 to 130 feet.
