  • Just loaded up the video of it. Check it out if you'd like.

  • Oh yeah! Loved the music at the ending :)

  • Good news Chad! I have one in decent condition. It powers on but the lock and shift buttons are stuck. I dont know why because this one does not seem gummed up at all. I got it from the original owner and he said it worked great when he out it in storage. It has had the dust cover on it this whole time. No rust or dust. Let me know if you are inerested and i'll make a video of it for you.

  • great video I worked on many of these back in the 70's

  • weeeeeellll tooooooooo talk ^_^

  • Thanks for the tip on the LPS-2. I've mostly seen dried up lube cause problems on "reel to reel" decks that I have worked on, but is a problem on most any type of "vintage mechanism".

  • You cant order it through retroelectronics?

  • It's great to see that TransOceanic playing at the end of the video. :D

  • i have a selectric 2 and the shaft that moves the carriage is stuck, i will make a video showing it.

  • "Any Day Now"--haven't heard that song in years....

  • 1,dumb statement there is t a type writer junk yard or type writter parts shop ?????

and thank you gonna buy over ebay ps2.

where the 2 type writers liked the music

  • The easy-listening music on the radio at the end really sets the mood of an office with secretaries typing away and Muzak piped in through the speaker system. :-)

  • This reminds me of the good ole days.

I had an Olivetti electric typewriter that I got as a present back in the late 80s. It had the ball type element that was removed by pulling on a spring loaded pin on the right side. Something broke on the machanism that caused the carriage to advance forward as if you were holding the space bar down firmly. Ended up chunking it after finding out how much it was going to cost to replace the part that broke.

Anyway. great job on the restoration.

  • And I had the Artisan font as one of my elements which I used the most. Didn't care for the Courier font, though.

  • Nice to see those things working. Believe it or not, my mom still uses those things at work, it's like a time capsule over there.

  • I will have to try some of that LPS 2.

Great work on this one, it runs perfect and smooth now!
