This is not a mark of shame on his part in the least. Most people SAY they love their country, but they have no idea what it means to truly do so. Many vets (among others) come to the realization of what loving your country means under trying circumstances.
Should Fox have aired this? Maybe. I don't think it would have changed much if they did (hindsight being 20/20). Given the context, it was the decent thing to do. The question is, would they have done the same for Obama?

His point was that he once "loved his country" because it gave him a great life and many priviledges etc. He feels he took her for granted back in his youth. My grandfather served in the military and he beat the shit out of my grandmother. When did being in the military automatically make you a saint? Dont get my wrong I love our soldiers, and support, and want our troops to come home, but to me its a double standard......

My father served in the military at the age of 17. He was a Green Beret in the Vietnam War with the US Army. A POW for 5 years.
However, my dad does not parade around talking about this. He thinks that he is the lucky one. He went in with 12 in his troop, and only 3 made it out alive.
If my dad told me he wanted to run in the election, I'd say "hell no!", I wouldn't even vote for him! Boy do I love my dad, but that man has no qualifications of running a country! lol.

I understand that McCain more than likely didn't ever not love America, but this video is just something for all the annoying people out there who got so pissed off over what Michelle Obama said. Things sometimes are worded differently or can be interpretted differently (ecspecially when Fox News gets their hands on it, as long as its a democrat saying it) than how they were intended.
Republicans can think of this when they want to pull out the Michelle speech now though. :)

Regardless if this was true or not, I see this more of a problem of the society.
Patriotism, love for the country should come out naturally from person's mind. If it becomes an obligation and start questioning each person, that includes presidential candidate, you'd better believe there's something wrong with how's the country run. It's just like another government under a dictator.
This doesn't mean that I support the way Fox news edited the interview.
