i'm in favor of calling them hang drums. Could clear up some confusion, cause if a severed hand and a hang were both on the table and you were asked to hand me the hang how would you know whether to hang me the hand or hand me the hang.

It is Not a hang drum, it is Not a steel drum or a Halo or Eclipse.

Just Hang.

Hang = Swiss-German (Bern area) for Hand.

@PJenkinss hi mate, by calling it hang drum, it could mislead people into thinking it is a drum and used far hard hitting which has created a ripple effect of misinformation that leads to damaged Hang, physical injury, and mental and emotional turbulence (taken from wiki)

There is nothing like earth magnetics involved as i know. The reason why this instrument is played like this is because if you are sitting on the ground having the Hang on your lap you not only hear but also feel the vibrations the instrument and this propably turns it i a kind of an "esoteric instrument that might be able to connect its player both to the stars and the earth in a certain way". :)

I hope you understand what i mean by this :)

As you can see in this video, it was made in dry weather conditions.

@guitarsoundhombecq well 3 different companies make there own version. In the usa pantheon steel makes there version called the Halo. which is where i purchased mine.

@Roninlord25a a halo is not a hang drum, its a steel drum yes but the magic thats in a hang drum just isn't there in a halo or an eclipse drum. I will say though, that those brands are good for beginners and people that don't have a cool 5 grand hanging around to buy an authentic hang drum.
