yeah this version is way better than the XO version. That's one of my least favorite songs on XO. I can see how I should like it more I just don't for some reason. Not abstract enough on XO. I also like the piano version "I Didn't Understand" better than the XO version. It's all steak though, some are filet some are t-bone either way it's fine dining.

Stop arguing over the original vs the cover. Elliott wrote it and it's a fantastic song. Bayside put a different spin on it and it's a fantastic cover for that reason. There's no use in disrespecting either party - especially John Holohan (Bayside's deceased drummer). Being on Elliott's side and insulting John just because it's easy? No, just give it up. Elliott Smith is my favourite solo musician. Bayside is my favourite band. If it wasn't for them and that cover, I wouldn't know Elliott Smith.

too right, i am a huge elliott smith fan yet also a bayside fan and i feel i can take something away from both of elliott smith's versions and bayside they all sound so different, Smiths were lo-fi (just like much of his work), but i also enjoyed bayside's realization of it as a punk rock song, If anything the fact bayside did manage to translate it to that only reaffirms how good a song smith has written in the first place, Bayside's was never meant to appeal to smith fans
