I've seen it. The authenticity of that video, taken from a mid-70s Italian exploitation film, has never been confirmed or denied, as least not on the World Wide Web. The edited footage never shows any unmistakable evidence of being either a genuine attack or a staged play with tame lions, so until some history detective tracks down the truth, none of knows for sure.

Humans have no excuse for this type of behavior because our intelligence gives us a means to kill without causing suffering. Evil is man-made. The rules dont apply to animals. They just do what they need to do to survive the only way they know how.
To resent an animal for not adhering to man-made principles just shows how ignorant you are, and that ignorance often causes more suffering when ignorant people like yourself decide to punish animals for their natural behaviour.

Some commentators here are "thincing" with their heart and not their head. These lions might kill the prey before eating it if they knew how. They haven't learned yet and it makes no difference to them so long as they get to eat. Cruelty and compassion doesn't exist for wild animals.

No human beings behaved cruelly in the recording and sharing of this video. Even people who have timid personalities and lead non-aggressive lives can possess very thrilling, violent imaginations. Watching things suffer and die violently is undeniably entertaining or there wouldn't be so much of it in fiction; in this way people can voyeuristically indulge their cruel streak by watching it occur in the natural world.

Actively making it happen would be wrong; bearing witness to it without interfering isn't. Watching it on your computer is harmless. Nearly a hundred thousand views indicates that very many people do want to see it.
People have suggested killing lions. Lions are predators that fill a necessary role in their ecosystem along with other predators. Remove them and the prey animals would overpopulate and overgraze, wrecking the ecosystem until many of them would slowly starve to death.

The calf may have gone into shock after the first painful bite but wildlife observers have seen that shock can wear off after a few minutes and then the animal still suffers terribly. Unpleasant but probably true.
Anyone who has observed animals can tell that they do have real emotions: fear, anger, affection, devotion, even jealousy. They just don't experience them with the same depth, subtlety and cognizance that human understanding gives us. Moral choices are beyond their comprehension.
