Since he has been with humans all his life, he can't be released back to the wild. The law is very strict on that in Bolivia. Even if it wasn't, when released he would be too familiar with humans and would probably get shot sooner or later.
it's not illegal in bolivia. this video was taken at an animal refuge,yaguarupi is there because his parents were shot & he was sold as a pet. when he got too big his owners didn't want him anymore so he ended up at the refuge, where he gets walked every day rather than stuck in a zoo
