I was the guitar tech on that tour. I will tell you this, If you ever saw the movie Rock Star, that is exactly the way it was in the 80's. Man they had so much pussy going on from town to town, it could not be believed. It really was Sex,Drugs and Rock-n-roll. I wish I was still on the road with a band. But I got myself, Married with children. Damn it!!!!!!
Can a time traveler from the future please, please come back and snag me so I can see Axe open for Motley Crue back in the early 80's? If I can stay for the Crue concert than that would be fantastic but if not I will understand. I will be ready to go at 3PM PST on 9 October 2011. You know my address, you're a freakin' time traveler. Lets do this!
mmmmmm, friday night, Camaro's, T-tops, sitting on the hood of the car with the stereo really loud after a concert, with chicks with amazing hair and very little skirts...... man i miss the 80s.
This is a song begging for a remake ~ maybe Bobby ~ Kid Rock? It could take him to another level ~ I use to cruise the beach to this ~ when the piano and guitar collide ~ it's magic ~
Axe was previously known as Babyface with a line-up of vocalist Edgar Riley, guitarist Bobby Barth, bassist Mike Turpin and drummer Teddy Mueller, the group adopted the new title of Axe in 1979 when the band added second guitarist Michael Osborne.
This is a totally different version. The original version's guitar has a different sound and long, quick sustains that this song does not have. And it was a shorter version than this one.. I believe this is a Re-Record version. Still, a Great song!!!
thank god for xm radio, regular radio stations ONLY REPEAT SINGLES OVER AND OVER. Hair Nation plays bands I never heard of before, i just heard of this one, fucking kicks ass, someone needs to give more hair metal bands i never heard of before.
@codyjt5150 hmm...how about heavy metal: Saxon,Blitzkreig,Diamond Head,Tank,Hysterica,Sister Sin. glam metal: Winter Rose,Keel,Jetboy,Cats In Boots, Dangerous Toys, and Treat
hell if i know he would hang with them along time ago he tells me storys his name is frank i dont know if he went with the last name apgar or peary if u find somethin let me know
im serious they werent a big band yet they were a little bar band he hung out with he help them with there pa system and all that thats how he got his nickname tank up around elmira new york dont b so discriminatin
my dad wrote the lyrics and sold to axe for beer and cig money somewhere up north i think he said upstate new york close to pennsylvania who knew it would go so far
THIS SONG BRINGS BACK SOME SERIOUS MEMORIES!! Axe opened for Motley Crue(who had just put out the "Shout At The Devil" LP) at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas, TX. This is the ONLY song I remember Axe playing...It was a great show. 80s were great fucking years for music!!
@sixxshooter68 I saw them in an opening act for Cheap Trick in Paducah, Ky in the early 80's. Nobody had ever heard of them, but they blew Cheap Trick away with only 3 songs. I like the original versions of the songs, by the way.
Oh yeah I almost forgot - A million thank yous for posting this!!!! I just cannot tell you enough how much this means to me & other fans of this song!!!!
I don't think you can ever go wrong w/this neglected classic whatever version you play!! Both versions are great but longer is better!!! The steel guitar solo is absent on the "Offering" version & that's a shame!! Still a rocker - timeless classic that AOR & classic rock stations should've paid more attention to!!!
