i miss these/those days BADLY. Back when bands had to earn their stripes. Kiss earned there stripes and more .ask Geddy Lee .....he even says KISS were THE hardest working band hes ever seen ever. They couldnt keep up with them live or with touring and what they put out onstage. dont need me to say that, weve seen theyre 70s shows.
I seen them about a week before this show in Shreveport, La. They absolutely sucked. I was the biggest fan back then too. What a let down it was. They couldn't have cared any less about being there. I never bought anything after Dynasty and still won't.
@Todds68camaro According the book Kiss and Sell by Chris Lendt, I believe the Shreveport, LA show was the breaking point in their relationship with Peter. The book says that at that show Peter stopped playing mid-song and refused to continue and Kiss ended the night right there. Do you recall that?
I saw the Dynasty tour and I was dead center in the front row.At least I was there after I moved from about 5 rows back.We all stood on the seats and I have some great pics of the band very close up.This was the first tour where Gene began the flying up into the lights and singing God of Thunder.I was right under him and we could not actually see him while he was up there.I got a Paul Stanley pick and Paul's guitar was handed to some on the floor standing in front of us at the end of the show.
@goongoon Two weeks prior 11 fans at a Who concert in Cincinnati were trampled to death. Security was very tight and heavy at the KISS show in Toledo. Not excusing anything just explaining the atmosphere of the time. I was 16 and this was my first concert and I remember it vividly. There were lots of security but I don't recall any excessive force. In fact there was lots of pot and booze in the audience enough for a contact buzz.. No cops harassed anyone though that I saw.
Love seeing rare clips like this. It really takes you back to a special time. The overly decadent, outrageous late 70's. Thank God that video cameras can capture a moment like this.
LOL ...haha holy #%$@ thats me in the front right with gray sweatshirt and dark gloves. lol haha 17 yo what a great show front row right in front of gene. we got guitar picks, the towel gene spit blood on and I caught the guitar at the end and fought with 5 guys and ended up with a string. funny stuff
@starchild70 You mean at 0:36 i was gonna post that as well. Security guard stopped the whole line by putting his hand in the kid's face - neck and he's like WTF!
I was at this show!! I was a junior in high school. Waited in the cold since 11:00a.m, blizzard conditions practically. About 10 feet back in the front of the line and then front row center at the stage. The Rockets (from Detroit) was the opening act.
This show took place shortly after the Who tragedy in Cincinnati. This might explain some of the heavy handedness of the cops.
