  • Naughty witches, tearing up newspapers, tut tut tut!

  • obviously their budget was tight on this vid

  • @mountainseekercd but still more creative than the millions spent today.

  • still one of my faves

  • Ahhh, Witches (white people).

  • got here via the Sonics (witch). this is great!

    thanks for posting.

  • I think i was 12 when i heard it live ,,, with Edna !!

    This was Northgerman gold ,,,,

    "norddeutschland go for it "

  • o,.,O

  • yep! ummm. that is her. good stuff!

  • I like this version better, though the lyrics make more sense if sung by a male singer. But Edna can hit the high notes much more naturally of what Hoier does. And then, she looks like a witch (ugly but sexy). And so this is one of the greatest rock songs ever produced in Europe.

  • Can't I see the witch? Only when my mother comes to visit.

  • Thumbs up if TOTP2 Halloween Special brought you here.

  • @mullio, Spot on, had not heard this for years saw them on TOTP2 and searched them out. I had this on 7 inch vinyl back in the 70s. happy memories.

  • @TENFOOTDWARF I just had to search it out as I'd never heard it before. She really belts it out on TOTP doesn't she.

  • @mullio Yes she does and its brilliant, I did not realise they were a German band, so you learn something every day.

A great song, they don't make them like that anymore.

  • @TENFOOTDWARF They certainly don't.

  • love that wah wah guitar!

  • The Original "The Witch" Recording from 1969, Was sung by Henner Hoier. Edna replaced Henner Hoier after he left the band. The band then re-recorded the song with Edna. Not even close to the ORIGINAL. !!!

  • @outlawlover1

Na und. Welches ist die bessere Version?

  • @nakkeleLE - a good question, the question which may concern only a really good song...

  • I love it.

    --Deep Blue dJinn

  • I love this song!

  • Wow. Wild video. For some reason it reminds me of "Last House on the Left".

  • Brother Jim Jupp sent me here. In a sense..

And of course I can see the Witch. Plainly my babe.

  • I think - they are mad.

  • I like that riff in between the verse. And you know what's that called? The Bo Diddy Riff!

  • :-))) super!!

  • She's my Mom!

Every morning before dawn she would pour my Wheaties,

then head for the cellar and get in the long box.

  • Why is Cheech Marin standing in a swamp dressed as the Statue of Liberty with a torch?

  • How could I miss the witch!

  • scary woman !

  • i will fuck this slut

  • Ohhhh they didn't really burn down the forest. How cute - they care,

  • Comment removed

  • By the way, this Woman looks really like a witch

  • You can see that it was Germany when you look at the Newspapers hold by the other Bandmembers at 1:15

  • I don't like this kind of music. I like classical and Jazz....So why the hell do I like this song and video so much?????

  • Back when they didn't think twice about burning down a bit of forest for the sake of art.

  • @tuskedbeast Apparently the concept of "stock footage" hasn't yet made its way to your world. ;)

  • @pyenapple it's called humour pyenapple..

  • @littlebillysunshine I know. Although in America we call it "humor" because we thought u wasn't funny enough the second time.

  • Love it!! Edna is dreamy :-)

  • Если мне такая баба приснится , я наверно вскачу в мокром поту )))

  • Awsome! This is another one of those songs I heard ions ago but never knew the name or group. Love this song! Thanx for posting it.

  • great . . great . . great . . !

  • ive tried downloading this version everywhere. itunes doesnt even have this version. the only one i can find isnt as good because the other singers vocals overpower ednas.

  • @kyleturner333

I have this version...i could send it to you if you want?

  • @SRBNorther

Can you send me this version of the song? I bought it off iTunes, and was really disappointed to get the male vocal version instead of this :(

  • @garethac81

Ok, no problem. I'll upload the song tomorrow somewhere and send you link to download on pm...

  • @SRBNorther

Would you? That would be awesome, thanks :)

  • Try TubeSock.

  • Why don't you just record the audio track from this youtube vid? That's how I get a lot of my songs (provided the audio quality is worthy).

  • witch don't like no newspapers

  • I remember this being played at a Bikers Friday Night disco.. it became the national anthem every friday and had to be played at 22.00 hrs... still an excellent tune and video.. for such an early prog rock band...

  • Well Said.. i totally agree, Small Faces to be included... The Who were masters of it though... Many Thanks...

  • the black sabbath days

  • the actual album is pretty kool...but not as witchy as this particular song. I think its the best stuff they've done, not really compareable to their earlier beat or later stuff.

  • But who is she? Wikipedia only names men in the Rattles' line-up.

  • her name is edna Béjarano. She is jewish

and her mother, esther bejarano, is famous for surviving auschwitz(nazi concentration camp) as a singer in the auschwitz girl orchestra.

They still make music together, but no doom pop ;)

They both still make music, but more folklore oriented, no doom pop

  • ...and she apears only on this particular album.

  • Thanks Survival -- Edna sure scared me when I was a kid!!!

  • How very interesting... that has made this record even more Tuetonic than ever.. no pun intended...
