Some snakes develop a taste for live or dead it's like when a child doesn't like crust or won't eat ham. The thing to really watch for when feeding live is to stay and make sure that the snake kills and eats the prey.

@iamijordi you can buy huge bulk bags of anoles and house geckos to feed other lizards and snakes.live or dead.....very cheap. Not everything eats mice. house geckos are more used as food than pets.

What is your opinion about people who create ball python morphs? I've seen videos and watched breeders handle their pythons and almost wish the snakes had venom so they would be handled with more respect.

@metarra Creating morphs is doing a dis-service to the species. You are damaging the species gene pool.

@viperkeeper I feel the same way. I personally don't consider them "defective" because they're healthy (although incapable of natural camoflage).  I got a a cal-king as a shouldersnake and was hard pressed to find one that wasn't albino. Albino snakes are just gross looking. Can't fathom why anyone wants one.

I thought snakes attacked prey because they can "see" their heat. How do you get them to eat dead food that has no heat?

@brnleague99 Not all snakes are equipped with heat sensing pits. I defrost the rodentd in hot warer, so they have a heat signature when I feed them.

You handle them very fell im 13 i lived around snakes my whole life im wanting to be a scientist 4 snakes my dad does the stuff u do i not aload to touch the snakes at all with Hooks or anything my dad has a gaboon viper a Cotton mouth i think not sure thats all 4 him i have non venoms i have Red tail boa ,and a Samlon boa , Tree boa , Ball python. My fav its my Salmon boa my fav it be cause it hasnt bit me yet XD

Poisons are ingested, Venoms are injected. Therefore, no snakes are poisonous because they are harmless when eaten. Some snakes are venomous because they inject venom.
