The problem with 'consent' is that all it would take is some contract, lengthy and full of legalese, which contains a line such as:
"I give consent to the recording and duplication of all communications of which I am a party"
I wonder how many bits of paper are shoved in front of people who are then told to sign, perhaps pressured to sign, without giving adequate time to study.
"It's ok, just a standard disclaimer. You trust us right?"

That may apply in auditing rooms but in the case of the story in the St. Pete Times followup about the wife whispering that the room was bugged, that can't be right.
Of course, getting anyone to care enough to check it out is next to impossible.

Weasels like DM get around laws all the time, I'm sure even if they tried to nail him for breaking the law while listening in on private auditing sessions (if that is infact illegal), he would keep it tied up in court til the end of time. the system is set up so rich guys like DM can get away with what ever they want, and everyone else gets stepped on.

Late '07, maybe early '08, I see an article about Scientology trying to suppress a South park episode. Of course, the first thing I wanna do is see that episode, right? And it was funny enough. But then I got on Google. First thing I see is XENU TV: "What are your crimes", Murnan, DeMoss...I started watching, then posting on the boards. Last March, I joined my first protest. Im not 100% up on Florida wiretap and electronic recording laws, but I think they are able to get away with such recording because its on private property.

WBM, it's odd. Have you found it difficult to avoid the Scientology lingo? "Outpoints", "Squirreling"... a lot of people won't know what these mean as Scientologists do. They are easy enough to decipher, the words aren't trademarks or anything.
...it just sucks that like many I know, even WBM can't let go of a lot of the indoctrination Scientology life has on people.

Well I don't know US laws, but it is definately illegal in the UK. Unless they know and there are clear warning signs up stating what is being recorded and WHY it is being recorded then it is a breach of the data protection act.

You can learn this by simply reading there respective books ( bible, kuran, etc )

I can inform you that I, through open conversations with the school principle and more, have ended my schools subscription to the CCHR magazine. It was not my intention to do so rather than inform about the connections to scientology but after reading their magazines, I find it hard to protest the removal of those magazines.
