@Myushifu I'm not exactly sure what the shoes are called. But I know that the top courtesans called Oirans wore those shoes on their "debut" so to speak. So we can assume she is reenacting some scene featuring a courtesan.

I don't exactly know how a real Geisha dance is done. But as far as traditional Kabuki goes, this would not fit that category because after a while Kabuki actors were limited to men only. For both the male and female roles.

I will give the director credit. For the often vague historic accounts available, they pulled this off quite nicely.^^
