  • Was that Sayuri who danced this dance?

and what is these shoes called??

  • @Myushifu I'm not exactly sure what the shoes are called. But I know that the top courtesans called Oirans wore those shoes on their "debut" so to speak. So we can assume she is reenacting some scene featuring a courtesan.

  • 1:22 when you see her face..it's my absolute favourite part. She looks so pretty!

  • whats the name of this song ?

  • Those shoes are so sexy.

  • I love this scene! In 01.23 she looks like a vampire

  • i love hatsumomo so much hahaha she's so genius

  • Does anyone else reckon she looks like the girl from the Ring

  • 2:33 first time i tried tht, i failed. fell flat on my bac. XD

  • buenisima ecena y m llega la peliculaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • I don't exactly know how a real Geisha dance is done. But as far as traditional Kabuki goes, this would not fit that category because after a while Kabuki actors were limited to men only. For both the male and female roles.

I will give the director credit. For the often vague historic accounts available, they pulled this off quite nicely.^^

P.S. That's got to be the tallest geta I've ever seen... O.Ox

  • @FullmetalRurouni this was not kabuki which most

( people who have knowledge of kabuki) know right away because f the stage...

  • Is the main actress Sayuri even Japanese in real life?

  • @Kikyodarkness456 No, furthermore, Sayuri never existed in real life; so get over yourself.

  • @Kikyodarkness456 No, Zhang Ziyi is Chinese. All of the main three actresses are Chinese.

  • Horrific shoes.

  • @biliblala lady gaga steals a lot of stuff from people!

  • holy crap i just noticed the shoes!!!

  • her name is Anita Goldberg Vars

  • sayuri is for me the most beautiful woman *_*

  • She looks beautiful, scary, eligent all at the same time.

  • I like this dance a lot. It gives me shivers everytime I watch it. =)

It's very expressive. The movie was wonderful too, even if some people think it's "vulgar hollywood". =D

  • What is the name of the song on the soundtrack that the snow dance is danced to? I can't find it on iTunes :/

  • @ittyxbittyxkitty Oh my god, shut up, troll.

  • in the book, it was mameha(michelle yeoh) who did this dance

but for me chiyo (zhang zi yi) did this best! ^^

  • She reminds me of a yuki onna from Japanese Mythology...

  • 'Hastumomo, you stink!'

  • This dance is so beautiful. I love the tragic story it tells. Wish me luck, people. I'm planning on learning this dance for the school talent show.

  • @gothicXemoXvampire cool how did it go? must've been really tough learning it!

  • To Hatsumomo: beat it!

  • In the book that was Mameha's dance

  • omg hella cool dance!!!!

  • i love this movie. this dance is so elegant and beautiful!

  • beutiful =] <3

  • is the song on the soundtrack?and btw this dance is amazing,my favourite scene :)

  • It goes from depression, to madness, craziness and sadness, and then Suicide.

  • I love this scene its so dramatic, this movie as perfect.

  • Its called telling a story, not just running around.

    :/

  • It's cultural and traditional Japanese theatre. The wailing and flailing represents her descent into insanity after waiting for her lover that she knows will never return.

  • @nakata70 wait, isnt it about how she died but wants to stay in this world and is tormented by creatures of the underworld? and aventually falls dead? the dance is shortened but in the Tamasaburo "sagi musume" video thats what it says.

  • if you don't see the beauty in this, then why did you seach for it? Why did you even watch it? The only dumbass here is you. Obviously, look at all the thumb downs you've gotten. I don't get why people feel the need to try and take away from the video when they don't even like it. People like you need to get a life and move on already.

  • Is this song on the official soundtrack? If so, what's it called?

  • They copied this from a kabuki called "sagi musume"
