Watched most of this on Netflix. In all honesty it wasn't as bad as its box office performance/Tomatometer made it out to be. Some beautiful art, the cast gave it their all, and the crew's heart was in the right place. It was passable - not great, not bad. I totally understand why no one saw it (the mo-cap is creepy, let's face it), but BO-performance aside it's not a complete disaster.

Guys, if you're getting turned off by mo-cap, never fear! 'Adventures of Tintin' gives us hope for the technology! Then again, it was done by the same company that did the effects for 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Avatar', so it could just be something on Zemeckis' end that's the problem.

The mo-cap technology is freakin' incredible and has so much potential. Just look at anything Andy Serkis has done. So don't look at films like this; look at mo-cap at its prime: Gollum, Caesar, Navi, Haddock...

theres a reason pixar does'nt try to make lifelike human characters in their films. the failure of final fantasy the spirits within, this movie along with the other robert zemekis animated films tells us audiences don't like too much realism in animation. it can look creepy. the human face must be the hardest thing to duplicate and the human eye can tell the difference. young jeff bridges looked horrible tron. the technology is not there yet. till it is make humans look cartoony.

@axebattler1 yep, old disney men tried to achieve believability instead of realism in their animations to tell a story much like how the wright brothers scraped the idea of imitating birds and learned aerodynamics to achieve flight. the journey to the uncanny valley is creepy indeed. but the success of the film "the adventures of tintin" could be an eye opener for the animators as to what to expect. animators, brace yourselves.
