  • HAHA! that is actually pretty cool.

I watched it happen in science labs as well!

  • Why didn't you light it?

  • @heycolslaw hi dude.. well this decompositins just release H2O and O2, to light its necessary a fuel.

  • What a mess!

  • @lionsforlyons yes, currently in some monopropellant rocket motors like, rocket bel and satellites

  • Was the silver in brass screen gone afterwards? Was the peroxide decomposing the screen or was it the screen was decomposing the peroxide??

  • @TypesEvilAspieEyes Im sorry, i didint answered you before.

The silver in the brass screen wanst gone afterwards, but unfortunatelly it was oxided, and its performance was decreased. The H2O2 was decomposed but the low superficial area of the brass screen wasnt good for a high decomposition rates, and due the high tamperature the silver deposited in brass screen was released.

in future tests i used manganese oxide supported in alumina and it had a good hydogen peroxide decomposition rate.

  • May be also formation silver oxide, I see the clear solution become muddy

  • @b43e65f77 yes man you are right.. it was jut a test, and in foward tests manganese oxid supported in alumina had better performance and no oxide formation

  • I bet a piece of my earwax would do that. My ears fizz a lot when I try to clean them with peroxide.

  • @lionsforlyons Yes. HTP is decomposed into the combustion chamber giving steam and a lot of free oxygen at around 500deg C.. Kerosene is then injected which burns with the oxygen to produce thrust. The british Black Knight and Black Arrow rockets used this type of engine.

  • cool. whats the smoke comprised of? and does it get hot? it looks like its boiling but i dont really get the whole chimical reaction stuff so im just wondering..

  • free oxygen for everyone!!!

  • htp, High Test Peroxide, used as oxidising component of rocket fuel in the 1950's I think

  • Where did you get of 85 % solution htp?? LD

  • @anfokg you can use it for racecars and shit.

  • I made it guy

i started with an 70% solution

  • @chumbica so how you concentrated the H2O2???

  • @antiswattt3

hello man.. i made a controlled heating... because H2o evaporates before h2O2, but it is dangerous.. H2O2 stream are explosive, do it in a clean place

    be careful

  • @chumbica im sure its not.. (: also the perfect gas mix for hydrogen and oxygen is HHO, 2:1 hydrogen:oxygen.. but thats not how its working.. by electrolysis you seperate the hydrogen from the oxygen.. H2O2 isnt explosive, the oxygen it releases might oxidize some stuff.. but not explosive im sure

  • Put some KMnO4 in it! That would be awesome.

  • What is the URL of your favorite place to buy 85% H2O2?

  • I dont buy H2o2 in 85% but in 70%

  • We Brits know a thing or two about HTP! Our rockets used it with kerosene. Look up our Black Arrow and Black Knight rockets. Decompose HTP into a combustion chamber to produce steam at 550deg C and inject Kerosene to create thrust. Not quite so much energy released but the propellants are at ambient temperature therefore much less insulation is needed saving weight on the vehicle.

  • WHAT A WASTE!!:P

  • where did u get H2O2 from ?

  • I got form SOLVAY in Brazil because im braziian but didint get in 85%, there isnt it here.

  • @chumbica How did you purify it man? distillation?

  • @roboticmehdi

It was just a controlled heating... the H2O evaporates

But I should say that it is Dangeours... look for scietific information

  • @chumbica hmm interesting. I never heard that it can be purified this way. Can you please explain in detail this purification process? Do you get it to boiling point or a little lower that boiling point? and what exactly do you do man?

  • @roboticmehdi

Its made since the great second war, try to find scientific paper in the web, and you will find some ways to purify h2O2.

a good way to find that is the google papers

  • @chumbica man I have been looking everywhere for easy methods to purify it. I have 50% H2O2 and would like to purify it to some 70%. One of the well know methods is vacuum distillation. I was going to do this but I found you. i need a more practical method to purify it, so please why dont you just give me the website I need or just explain me in detail? this will make me very happy.

  • @chumbica How did purify it man? distilation?

  • Where'd you get the silver in a brass screen? I might want one to make a tiny rocket.

  • u could make one very easy

  • How to? o.o

  • electrolisis with silver nitrate....my spelling is right but u get the point its quite simple..silver nitrate is quite expensive but u would only need a very small amount

  • could u use medicinal silver liquid as a catalyst? i think its called silver nitrate

  • did u make the peroxide your self? or did u buy it, heres a tip u may wanna play with NASA uses Hydrogen peroxide in there hybrid rockets

  • oh shit, violent as hell! 5*

  • it was good..but was just the fisrt test...

Later i used potassium permanganat and yes it was violent

    ^^

  • creapy OO 5*

  • next time you should use sodium

  • damn that is a vigorous reaction

  • is that on a hot-plate?

  • No there is not any hot plate, it is just a can

  • that must have been what happened when my HMTD batch was a runaway. XD that reminds me if u wanna use HCl instead of citric acid don't use too much.

  • where did u get 85% hydrogen peroxide

  • Yea, how DO you get it? Do you just evaporate the uneeded water in the 6% solution? No online stuff like ebay sells it to that concentration.

  • You can get up to around 60% concentration by useing the freezing method (search it up) but then after that other method must be used for some reason,

  • no,it would lead to decomposition.

  • More likely 85% was achieved through distillation since H2O2 has a vapor pressure of about 100 MMHg and water has a vapor pressure of about 23 at STP.

  • google peroxide prepulson.

    (rate this comment high)

  • @color1retard I'm guessing it was 3% or 30%. To get 85% you'd need to work for NASA or a specialty chemicals plant

  • @Grundalizer or just have a sophisticated vacuum distillation setup.

  • actually thats called dissolving.

decomposure is when a flesh eater (maggot etc)

eats away at a long gone dead body.

disgusting i know but this is dissolving just to let you know.

Lol 11 year old knows neither chemistry nor english! A bunny lover at that! Welcome to internet where hydrogen peroxide is the furl to our future!

  • It's decomposition, idiot.

  • Haha, get better at reading. If you knew shit about anything, you'd realize that was a quote from earlier on in the comments by spike0804. Get better.

  • ...Oh!

    V_V

How 'bout we just say I was referring to spike, eh?

    =/

  • Hell yeah man, rock on. No hard feelings

  • what gas does it produce?

  • it is a catalyst decomposition tha just produces O2 and H2O, because this im interested in using it as rocket hybrid propellant

  • It's a chemical decomposition you prepubescent runescape player!

  • @Chinua3 hey don't knock runescape =P

  • @Chinua3 lol runescape is wat i find wrong with ppl in my school

  • Somebody should give you a gram or two of TCAP, and tell you to stomp on it...

That will explain decomposition to you...

  • Your retarded, it is a decomposition reaction of H2O2 to O2 and H2O

  • well the fucking title says decomposing.

retard you better think before you post.

    your the retard X2

  • Yeah the title says decomposing because it is decomposing not dissolving you dumbshit...so your the one that should think before posting

  • why couldn't you just have given it to me? I would have put it to better use...

  • when you take the hydrogen peroxide (cased in a brown bottle) open up a battery and take this black powder out of it not black powder like gunpowder its just black and pour it all in, cap and throw and then the bottle explodes!

  • Where did you get 85% - or did you distill your own (through freezing of course).

  • And theeeeen....BAM! Ur dead >:O

  • I wanna kill my boss with it!

  • Just like used in the jet packs

  • i think the silver thing act as a catalyst...

  • Dude that's cool, but what did you use? Silver in a brass screen?. One time I sawed 2 AAs in half and put the black stuff in a soda bottle with hydrogen peroxide in it and it almost blew up! I think I'm going to try it again lol peace.

  • lol, will household hydrogen peroxide (30%) work?

  • do u know what would happen if anything organic fell into there? explosion ..which then it would splash on you and another explosion with you as the reducer

  • dude your gonna blow your head off

  • Maybe.... but i dont think so... Im not kiding with H2O2.. im researching...

  • Hey there you need to lower that evaporation temperature . 70 deg C is too high explosive H2O2 vapors form above 55deg C. I would go for 50deg C, it will take a couple days but you wont blow your lab up. Good work on the cat screen though..

  • how did you get the hydrogen peroxide at such a high concentration? nice!

  • Yes it is an heated evaporation, i usually heat it up to 70ºC

  • Now get some 90% peroxide and a larger surface area silver mesh, and you got yourself some rocketfuel

  • Well it was just a test...

I tryied to use hydrogen peroxide and plate in a real rocket test, but unfortunatelly it doesnt work, propably because my Hydrogen peroxide is higly stabilyzed

Now, im using, manganese oxid and im having good results.. but it is necessary improve the system

    See u

  • How did you get the H2O2 at such high concentrations? Did you make it yourself or did you purchase it?

  • Well man, i start with 70% H2O2, and evaporate it up to 85%, but there are some people tha starts with 30% and goes to 85% too, but of course they lose much more product

Man, H2O2 heated evaporate is danegeours.. so take care

  • I just want to clarify...

Evaporation means you just leave it out in the open for a set number of days or is there another process that involves catalysts, heat, and other chemicals?
