  • she is a beautiful woman and a great voice.

  • yer shitin me

  • vaya siempre habia creido que lo habia creado juice newton...ahora veo que hay una voz tan maravillosa que lo canto antes, realmente que lindas canciones componian antes que aun continuan vigentes a pesar de las decadas

  • Best version!

  • This Song Was Written By BILLIE DAVIS And not C.Taylor. you ask her i did

  • @wfjw

Buzz! Wrong answer. James Wesley Voight (better known by his stage name Chip Taylor) is the actual writer of this song. The other big song penned by Angelina Jolie's uncle Wild Thing, which was a monster hit by The Troggs.

  • @piatoscanoangel

Taylor also wrote one of the best beat group era songs ever, "I Can't Let Go." This was first released by Evie Sands, but turned into a mega hit by the magnificent Hollies.

  • @wfjw

Chip Taylor wrote this you dip and many artists have covered this song including myself.

  • Great song by a very unlucky singer

  • @racemisation What is the story?

  • Super song and lovely lady singing it, but the acoustics are a little overwhelming. They should be remixed to complement her voice. When was this, 1964, 1965?

  • @Nikes62

There is another version up now, with much better sound.

  • dont want to be a downer on anyone but this version might be the original , but it dosnt do it for me. shes a pretty woman but her voice just dont stick out far enough seems like it was over taken by the back up vocals I think thats what you call them. but I do love the song anyway. just like another version of it.

  • Brilliant. She was a great singer and so feminine, pretty and great legs and unpretentious. She looks like my wife looked at that time.

  • There are several good versions of this moving song. This is one of the best, if not THE best. She really sings it "from the inside". Thanks for posting it.

  • Clearly, she has lived her song.

  • this is the original. too bad people nowdays think the current version is the only one ever put out. and that they wrote it.

  • Such a powerful voice for such a tiny woman..

  • This is beautiful, thank you for downloading for us to enjoy :)

  • Is this Mandy Moore?

  • watch?v=Hpy-psuDz6U

  • 2011......WOW.....why can't our singers pronounce the words so we all can understand? Where is she now?

  • I love this...always have!! :)

  • When I was 14 or so I TOTALY had such a Crush (that was the word then) on her. I LOVED her voice and she was my wet dream.

I played this over and over.

Looking at her know I see that...I had good taste !!!!

  • Billie Davis wrote the song there fore she will always have a different take on it. It is good popularized music is not always best when you listen to the originator there is somethng to be gained pity it is such a poor recording and obviously mid sixties.

  • @angel2gabriel06 It was written by Jon Voight's brother, James!

  • @angel2gabriel06 It was written by Chip Taylor not Billie Davis. (Job Done)

  • Billie davis wrote the song there fore she will always have a different take on it. It is good popularized music is not always best when you listen to the originator there is somethng to be gained pity it is such a poor recording and obviously mid sixties.

  • Billie Davis does this song the best she has a beautiful voice

  • Easily the definitive version. Billie was in a different league.

  • @FergR tempted to agree with you......PP ARNOLD sang backing on this too ....before doing her own version ...love both ....but what an excellent song ,....check out NINA SIMONE'S version its beautiful yet very different.

  • Wow! I always have liked Juice Newton version but Billie Davies is so unique...I love her voice...I can sense the feelings of a girl in that situation..Great!

  • Billie is still on the road with the Swinging Sixties shows, bless her.

  • Nailed it!

  • hope she makes it back to the meth clinic in time .

  • It was Jet Harris that was the black sheep not BD

  • this version is the most intense i've ever heard.... billie was an incredible talent!!!!

  • Juice Newton sings it best.

  • Completely brilliant - in a different class to all other contemporary versions. Much more subtle and engaging than the PP Arnold.

  • An unparalleled performance - far more subtle and expressive than any other contemporary artist. Brilliant camera work too!

  • The modulation of this beautiful rendition has been deminished by under modulation ! technical idiots need punishment , !

  • I really like the way Billie Davies sings this one, to me she sings this best!!!

  • i think she'd be cuter if we could see her eyebrows, anyone agree?

  • foreign element is genuene blood inrichment to art quality !!!! nigers will never have this perception , regardless of laws requireing otherwise ! animal dirivation from african jungle habitant , is not compatable with human production between apes /monkeys and human kind, the concpt of equality between amimal and human is an abomination !

  • @sandhogy..... I beg you......seek therapy.

  • @sandhogy The concept that the public or private education system could fail anyone so utterly is an abomination.

  • @sandhogyYOUTUBE, this poor fool's comments should be removed as spam as they have nothing to do with the fine tune on show. Failing that , sandhogy...I beg you...seek an English dictionary before posting such pretentious, purile drivel I counted at least ten simple spelling mistakes. Your education was sadly lacking as you also consider homo sapiens something other than an animal. Biology 101 = we are all animals, now prove me wrong.

  • rythim is great , luv this song

  • Great version. Must have been a bit radical having a song sung by a woman, saying she's up for blame-free one night stands.

  • @moominpic Davies was already a black sheep after her affair with a very married Jet Harris hit the press in '63 - when she was 17.

  • @CommentorX Oooh! the little hussy... makes Miley Cyrus seem like a nun! Thanks for the info.

  • I would have to agree she is the best interpreter, because her particular voice has that combination of vulnerability and power that the song also portrays.

  • Best version ever! I can see she is singing and not lip syncing it. And, she has all the feeling. I wonder what the recorded version sounds like as the sound of the sixties Beat Club is very poor.

  • I think this video is great. Thank you for posting this!

  • love the deadpan deliverance.

  • @Wallydraigle lmfAO

  • Bonjour, vous aimez les sixties ? écoutez et podcastez mon émission "le super son des 60's" sur le site de plumfm. You like the 60's ? please, listen and podcast my broadcast "le super son des 60's", connect to "plumfm". Salut et faites gaffe au rock and roll.

  • What year was this? She was sexy....Bedroom eyes

  • BIllie DAvis is so ggod brilliant a singer before her time should have been so much more recognised . I believe she is still touring am i correct does anyone know.

  • very good interpretation :)

  • every few months, I watch this...and I fall in love with her every time.

  • @brimaggiacomo I think you will find Billie wrote it and Pat Arnold was on backing vocals on the original

  • @thepeacefulpoet i think you will find that Chip Taylor wrote it, not Billie Davis

  • @thepeacefulpoet Maybe thats why its almost impossible to prefer one version over the other....pat arnolds version was the best for me ....until I heard this...now I love both....hats off to chip taylor......had to buy billies album after hearing this and highly recommend it to all.... captures the upbeat sixties perfectly

  • Great!! I saw an old clip of her doing "It Takes Two" with Steve Marriot ( from whom Robert Plant got his vocal style) - Awesome!

  • @slideharp1 where did you see that clip

  • @telbear It was an old TV show (Ready, steady, go - TOTP) a kind of one-off thing, I don't know if they made a record together.

  • Billie Davis - Great singer.

  • my first love

  • No problem. So what's the problem?

  • lovely version of this song, billie davis looks very pretty here, not like todays skanks!

  • @marguer1 Exactly!

  • It is sung not 'singed'. Secondly, I suspect men like this, not because of her singing ability, which is non-existant, but for the fact that she looks as though she's still at school (not a crime in itself, far from it) PP Arnold's version is worlds apart from this chipmunk like rendition.

  • @clean3 each to there own, what is wrong with that?

  • @clean3 Fuck Off

  • @gyrofoam1 Are all Billy Davis fans as articulate as you....you cretin.

  • @clean3 Fuck off, you cocksucker.

  • nice, but what is she wearing!!

  • sung by

  • @Wallydraigle lol - I had just been reading an article about mondegreens before coming here.

  • Beautiful!

  • Where have you all been PP Arnold is the one.

  • So humble, yet she owns this song!

  • this one's good...but i grew up with Juice Newton's version of it

  • Separation Anxiety?

  • Separation anxiety?

    l.

  • She looks remarkably like a young Mirreille Mathieu, same era.

  • The original was not sang by Billie, but by Merrillee Rush and the Turnabouts.

  • I love the look on her face at 1:40 to 1:42

  • The best cover is this one, by Billie Davis, that's what I say...

  • @MrJommycross

not a cover she composed it she is the original

  • Encantadora esta canción! Mamá ves lo que provocas...que tenga tus mismos gustos musicales, y ser la burla de mis amigos...jeje amo esta musica.

  • kalindoscopy......... absolutely perfect way to describe this clip.

  • This is what I like to call, "hauntingly beautiful".

  • @Brunogirlfriend ...well described!! =)

  • pure magic. she owns this.

  • Sencillamente adorable.

  • Best SUNG not singed!

  • you should try this version: /watch?v=K7Qfqle_2Bs&feature=quicklist&playnext=3&playnext_from=QL

Chrissie Hynde singing it in Friends;)

  • did juice newton remake this?

  • She's adorable!

  • Totally with the Billie Davis lovers on this one.

  • i love song

  • But shes so adorable!!

  • ItBrandonSilver, you should be careful about throwing around the word "dumbass". You might embarrass yourself. Yes, this version of the song is truly awful -- it is hideous and embarrassing. But the fact is, Juice Newton's version is almost as bad -- not quite as bad, but close.

  • Winnie Cooper?

  • ang ganda ganda rin ng version nya..feel na feel ko !!!!

  • just found out that this song is perfectly matched with Billie's life - the sad story with Jet Harris. Maybe that's the reason why this version is so emotional. And for me this is the best.

  • its just gorgeous.....

  • ooh!!!who exactly sing the original version of this song???

  • never heard of her until now...WOW she's just fabulous luv her stuff thanks for posting

  • i have to admit, out of everyone else how done this song...I LOVE BILLIE DAVIS on this one

  • @jewsdo . i like this version 2nd best, behind The Pretenders

  • Comment removed

  • Oh my god, how many versions of this song are there?

  • This is still a great version.

  • Comment removed

  • SO SO GREAT

  • Comment removed

  • I prefer P.P.'s version to all of them, then Marrilee's 2nd.

  • I agree, P.P.Arnold's version is the best.

  • @Transistorised I have been to PP,s home in London and she rated Billie very highly

  • @Rcksaltnnails WOW, someone expresses an honest opinion and someone who cant respect another person has to leave a thumbs down. What a self centered loser. I am SOOOOO glad that I do not consider only my own ideas as facts. lol

  • Juice Newton sings this best.

  • Her version's OK, but a bit over done. Gotta give you credit: have you hit all the videos of this song?

  • I know its the not the "cool and hip thing" to side with the mainstream, but the Merrilee Rush Memphis production instrumentation of this song alone warrants it the best of the covers, vocals aside.

That being said I also prefer the Merrilee vocal production as well. Memphis had their shit straight getting the sound to record. All others sound like Demo versions by comparison.

  • Juice Newton's laughable and terrible version of this song ruined the song forever. She drove the last nail in the coffin of this once great song. Because of her now you can't listen to any version of the song without throwing up and now nobody can listen to the song. Similar to what Sheryl Crow is doing to music now.

  • Juice Newton was a no talent C*nt and so are you. Hiding behind pictures of Divine and spending all your time figuring out who's who on red carpet night. That aint shit. I got more Euro hip and more Baltimore in my little pinky than you got in your whole body.

  • Well, it's easy & convenient to just call somebody a name when you know nothing about them. And you sound like a big fat hypocrite calling me a dumbass for being from the U.S. and defending Juice Newton when SHE'S AN AMERICAN. And last time I checked SO IS DIVINE who you have as a profile picture (everybody go look) .Obviously you know nothing about John Waters either, but you act like you do. You are a rip off artist and a HYPOCRITE. The dumbass is you and everybody can see it.

  • billie v skeeter? i say billie

  • Very close Id say a draw

  • heard this when i was a lad,so its my favourite. Thanks for the upload

  • kind of clenched and bitchy. i dig it....

  • I'm enjoying getting the history of this beautiful, tender song but sorry Legion87, Merilee Rush may not have been the first to record it and she certainly was not the last but to me, her version is the definitive. Thanks for posting this clip.

  • uh this isnt a tender song

  • saw Billie 3 months ago, and she can still belt out the hits. I got her CD, and she gave me three kisses, shes still a good looking fit bird at her age.cor........

  • Good verision - a little too polished though. I think PP Arnold hits it closer to the heat.

  • Billie was a great little rock, and very few girls could tear it up better. But these were shocking lyrics at the time - and I think PP Arnold did an honester job of meeting them head-on.

(Cilla Black would not have dared perform this piece).

  • This is the original song of (Shaggy - angel)

  • Dude..the original song is not performed by Bille Davis its by Joya Landis :P

  • Comment removed

  • Joya Landis was the first to record the song but it was not released because the record company went bankrupt;First to release it was with the singer Billie Davis.First to chart was Merrilee Rush and the Turnabouts at #7.But my personal favorite is by Juice Newton, only singer to make it a #1 hit.

  • Interesting. Sandy Posey also turned it down because she felt it was too rangey.

  • Superb

  • " GOOD GOD " !!! She's beautiful, And she can bring the tears down my face with her Angel voice, and if I could just go back in time I would kid nap her

  • I love these old videos, I think there great :) xx

  • singed?!

  • Minimal moves :-D..not much Shakira...Great voice & song

  • Amazing.

  • me encantò !! Estoy emborrachandome musicalmente de esa epoca..y la verdad cuanto mas conozco mas me gusta !!

  • just perfect.

  • Isn't misspell one word?

  • Agree totally, catpyret and maniactough. She is breathtaking, and this is the most perfect version ever. Gives me goose bumps.

  • The best version ever!!!!!!

  • she is beautiful

  • Thank you for uploading this beautiful song, it turns me to my eighties.

  • wow. i almost cried

  • She is great

  • JN's rendition, in my opinion, is closest to the finished article - primarily due to it's superior arrangements. The batch of late 60s versions, such as this one, are too raw and acoustic for my taste.

  • this version isn't as good as the original... it polishes away the beauty

  • i take it back. i've heard every other version, including one sung by chip himself (the guy who wrote the song). this si the most brittle, cold, distant and, essentially, pure version of the song. it is painful to listen to, and thus, perfect.

  • After having listened to several versions myself, I have to agree with you, kalindoscopy. There's just something about it...

  • i think this one is very plaintive and sweet, and i like it. i like all of them for different reasons.
