I think Paul's funny and sometimes the stuff he says is great... although sometimes he does interrupt everyone and totally ruins jokes but stating the obvious. But that in itself is hilarious sometimes.

Yeah, that's kinda the whole comedic point. He's the over-the-top obvious guy, he takes it too far on purpose. It's tough for some people to get, I guess.

Which is why he is in charge of the music part of the show. Letterman is the host man. He's the one who's supposed to say all the interesting stuff. And Shaffer being one of the greatest living musicians deserves some respect ;)
