  • I used to live near there and get up every morning and go to Kenilworth and sit up and write poetry by the morning rise :) What wonderful memories this great video stirred... Thank you for it!

  • @TheGeolocation Glad to oblige. It seems that my Greatgreatgreatgreat.... great grandfather was the keeper of the castle for the Earl of Leicester. I just had to make the visit.

  • I'm sure they're there, but no ghosties made their presence known

  • Really cool footage. Looks like you had a wonderfully misty day for it too.

  • Atmosphere indeed!

  • impressive pictures and after seeing the footage I think I'll trade my cam in and get one like Neils! ;)

  • Thanks, Steve. Still have camera envy I see. ;) Did you watch in HQ? I can't believe the difference.

  • I did indeed, would have been worth doing this one in HD (I can send you the iMOvie export settings if you unsure how)

  • I'm still baffled by i movie... but I'm getting better

  • wow, lovely pics+you visited the UK!

I love going to castles & old Priories etc. I like imagining who might have lived there over the years, or how it felt to be looking out of those slit windows for enemies. And we have so many old ruins here, Wales is full of them. Kenilworth looks particularly grand! So many castles have been depleted over the centuries as the stones were taken and used for other things. And some of them were pretty small to start with.

Have a wonderful trip-wherever you go!

  • I did! you and I switched continents for a bit it seems! I loved the castle even in ruins. Seems my great great was the Keeper of the Castle for the Earl of Leicester. It made it even more special a visit. I can't wait to get back.

    Thanks for watching, Tia!

  • I love old castles and gothic architecture, so this video was a real treat! Thanks!!

  • Thank You!!

  • just love this, G. And the weather cooperated, didn't it though :)

  • We were a bit waterlogged by the end of that portion of the trip... so we drove south. Sunset yet to come!

  • Oh my gosh! I've been there...

Thanks for a fun second visit!

  • My pleasure! Small world, eh?

  • Indeed!

  • Nice one Gert! Roll on Portland!

  • I LOVE Portland! Thanks for watching, Mr. Funny!!

  • Fabulous Tour and your ancestors left the place so neat and tidy

  • You can thank Cromwell for that! ;)

  • Thank you so much for taking us along! You got some incredible photographs!

  • Thanks for taking the time to watch!

  • Thanks for putting this on the Tube... Watching it only in Haven was most excellent for me but made me hope our friends here could see it too... Now it is up to THEM...

  • Thanks for the gentle nudge, Pappy. VBG

  • I've always wanted to tour the castles of Europe. Great combo of video and pictures. You eagle eye, as always, offers up some fantastic photos.

  • Aww, thanks NTF! Glad you enjoyed.

  • Being a player of Dungeons & Dragons, anything with a castle is my cup of tea.

  • yeah, I still have my dice from HS :)

  • Mmmm, dice. I didn't know you played!

  • I haven't since my drama geek days ... but still, once a DM always a DM ;)

  • I'm a DM, too. Someone's gotta keep the geek level in check (and/or bring it to new heights).

  • I wear my Geek status proudly! Balanced by a certain level of cool ;)

  • How cool was that? I had a couple tubers carry me around Chertsey one day thats where my peeps are from. All thats left of our place is a partial stone wall the war got the rest,

  • It was Wicked cool!

    Thanks for stoppin by, Huey

  • <3 <3 <3 <3

  • xxxx

  • Your buddy shot terrific footage here - and quit knockin' the subject, will ya?!

    ;-P

Man, what a cool place. I love the still shots you took.

  • It's all so foreign to me to see me.... but yeah, he did a great job. Pappy made me post. Told me it was YOUtube afterall!

Thanks for taking the time to watch, Curt!

  • Beautiful castle remains!! Lovely video footage to boot :) The photos are awesome.

  • Aww, thanks, Beth. And thanks for stoppin by!

  • I just love seeing the castles! Your photos were amazing! And you had your own videographer along on the trip...how fun! :-) Beautiful video with wonderful photos and video! Thanks for sharing your trip! :-)

  • The funniest was when we were in King's Cross trainstation and he was filming and Japanese tourists were shooting what I was shooting. I think they thought I was somebody! lol

    Thanks for stopping by, Cay!

  • Amazing stuff!, wonderful shots!! My Nikon D90 should show up tomorrow or Tuesday. Can't wait for it to show up and start shooting! What kind of camera do you have? Your trip looked FAB, btw!

  • Hi Gary! I just have a Canon EOS... went digital and can still use all my old lenses. I can't tell you what the vid's shot with. Ask "GettingLouder". Neil's amazing and has fantastic stuff of his own. Dad has a Nikon that he's used all over the world. Great Camera! Have fun with it. Test it to its limits. Thank you for watching!!

  • The Canon EOS line was one of two choices for me. I don't think you can go wrong with Canon or Nikon. I played with the Nikon D90 and fell in love with it at Best Buy, after seeing a couple features it has that the Canon's don't. I can't wait to shoot!! :)

  • I'm simple. It doesn't take much to make me happy ;) Really, if it was my profession, I'd probably have a Nikon. Good luck with the pics, Gary!

  • Hey, Ran... thanks for watching. It's been so long since I've posted I'm amazed anyone is still around!

  • Hi Ran, It's in England... a couple of hours northwest of London. It's the family's old stomping grounds... circa 1536 ;) I felt right at home. It was tough coming back.

  • amazing pictures as always, where is this place?
