English by far I ride english and I love it, plus I think english is more of a challenge. It is true that western is more popular in the united states but I think that more people should try english! And DO NOT say I am just saying this cuz ive never tried western because that would be a lie I have ridden both and have enjoyed english more by FAR!!!
i love both ! my boy does it all :) he adooores jumping , and listens like an angel in command classes . then i let him loose in western and he practically runs the western games by himself ! weve ran the barrels together in 16.7 seconds :D i loove both , i could never just pick one ! <3
you can do so much in both styles of riding , with english there is jumping and all that , western there is barrel racing and all that ; it would be wrong to pick just one <3
I prefer western I do like English a lot show jumping is FUN but western just feels more natural and comfortable to me but it's still not a easy sport English or western isn't easy
I prefer English. I currently take hunter/jumper lessons, but I've done a lot of trails and such Western. Both are hard, nothing is easy when it comes to riding. So while I love English, I'm not going to put Western down. I have multiple friends who ride, some English some Western. All of us have a preference but we all just enjoy riding and horses in general.
I myself am a western rider (3 years ^^) but I take lessons and work at a ranch that it mostly english hunter/jumper, so I have respect for both saddles. I think the most important thing is the passion and the love for the riding. I am friends with riders from all kinds of saddles and we aren't prejudice or competitive...well, KINDA competitive, but it's fun competition. I love riding any saddle anywhere any time!
I dont think people can say which style they like unless they have ridden both for a period of time. Ive ridden both english and western so I can say that i prefer english much more. western is still fun, but i like english more. if u think the other style is boring, and youve never tried it, go out and try it! u may have a lot of fun and then u can really say which one u prefer!!!!
well i have tried both and to be honest english was harder but they are both as good as each other, and i dont think it matters. riding is about passion and love for your horse, not about if u have a horn on ur saddle or not!
in my opinion i don't care at all. I will ride english or western. i care about my horse. i don't like that people argue and say that western abuses or english is too hard on the horse. it depends on the rider not the style
a lot of them are wen i rode english for 7 years i only thought about myself and only wanted to ride the hard horses to show off now i dont care about me at all i jus care about my cody!!
I posted a comment a few months ago but it has disappeared. I don't know why everyone has to fight over this sooo much!
Both/any style of riding takes time, training, work, hard times - so stop argueing over which is better/worse/harder/easier/etc. I ride both styles, mostly western and bareback but I do give alot of credit to english riders. I am still learning how to jump and it is really hard. But I am also running barrels, which is also very hard! Both are hard!
i perfer english(: but i hate when people fight saying that "english people" are mean to their horses and don't have bonds with them. it's the same people riding the saddle. it's just a different saddle. seriously.
look ... not ALL english treat thier horses different and that just a little bit of the ppl.. i also dont like how a little bit of ppl in barrel racing treat their horses...i get the fact that "o i want to win" or "i hav to win" and then wen the horse acts up the go crazy and start pulling on them and it makes it worse and then the rider and rarely the horse gets hurt :|
Western all the way!!! But both are awesome!!!! I perfer riding western. But love to watch english riders jumping and a dressaging in the ring. lol :D Its cool ! :)
englishhhh(: i know that in western you can be more 'relaxed' in terms of eq since thats what everyone keeps saying but some of us hj/eq riders like to ride the way we do, thats why we do it (:
English but thats only because western saddles +me= bad things happening....I go on a trail ride in my english saddle and everything goes fine..going at a full gallop or just leisurely walking go out in my western one and all the sudden the tree we've walked by a hundred times is a huge ass scary bear trying to eat us.... Though being a wound up arabian who is used to the show ring never helps in such situations
I love all styles! Western is my fave because I am better at it that English. Lol. I need to work on my posting and cantering. :P But.. I love barrel racing and bareback. I'd like to try Reining. And Dressage is soo cool! :)
I used to ride western.. its actually really fun but i started riding english and realized i liked it better... Western is still really really cool :D
it is possible to jump western, but it is also dangerous. the saddle is a lot heavier and the horn gets in the way. u can also do barrel racing in english. ive tried it before and had a blast! i think both r really cool.;)
@livelovehorses95 lol believe me i no its possible to jump in a western saddle i tried jumping the cavellettis wen i first began jumping lol trust me its pain fu=D i love both western and english riding bareback is totally the bomb!! i am learning how to jump in english but mostly just jump bareback i love barrel racing and pole bending in western go to rodeos all summer=] both styles are awesome
Noticed how western riders say english riders are stuck up? Well, all the comments saying english is better are written in a very nice way.... most (not all) pro- western comment are sort of rude (like the one written above) But... two can play at that game... (;
well in english u hav ur legs way up high and your allways doing dressage and stuff lik that...the thing i really lik about english is jumpin lik 10 feet high...in western u r all relaxed and u get the speed in western race like barell racing and plug and weaving...im not saying english sucks im jus saying western is way betttta in a harsh way but thats my opinion
no offence, but a lot of stuff in your comment is incorrect :) Example, no horse has ever jumped 10 feet (; Also, I have never seen an english rider with their "legs up high?" I actually dont even know what you meant by that? :/ And, what do you meant by "dressage and stuff like that?" Dressage/show jumping/ equitation/ crosscountry are all VERY different things :)
ok srry but in my oppinion western is my favorite i used to ride english and i never understood wat it ment to "love" a horse butttt thats JUST ME and u cane juj me on that but when i go and see mi horse cody all i see is him and i dont care about riding or anything i jus love him and no one else does cuz he is a stubborn brat but i dont care so thats MY OPPINION and i never said english ppl are stuck up i jus dont like the way SOME OF THEM treat thier horses SOM OF THEM not all of them
I agree, I ride english and i compete but the bond i have with my horse is INSANE. I love him to bits, everyone else says he is annoying to ride because he bucks. So, you can still have a FANTASTIC relationship with your horse even if you ride english. also, if you compete it doesnt mean that you only cared about winning and nothing else. Heck, Rodrigo Pessoa, a LEGEND in the showjumping world pulled his horse out of a combination because he missed his distance and he knew the horse would crash
if he kept going to the oxer so he pulled his horse out of the combination and yes, when he did this he knew he would lose, but he cared more about the well being of his horse than winning a $250,000 Grand Prix. See? Competing doesnt mean that you only care about winning.
im jus say very little ppl abuse thier horses if they dont win or hurt them trying.. at every english place ive been to theres alwayz a girl or two hoo thinks itz all about her and at the western farm i ride at now therez this girl and she rides is really energetic but she just runs her all the time and doest warm her up. when she goes on a trail ride she runz up through and bak the whole way a full speed gallop and she just gallopz around the ring no walk around or anything itz jus so annoying
Excactly. There are abusive and rude people everywere; not just in the 'competing' world. I think it is a bit unfair when you said how people that compete only care about winning because nobody would have any ribbons if it wasnt for that amazing bond they share with their horse.
im sayin abusive everything not just competeing:| i jus dont like the english or western "abuserz" hoo go crazy about winning somthing, run their horse to death, and if they dont win they take it on their horse:| i hate those people
in my oppinion i dont like to comete i have a grand champion ribbon, a champion ribbon, a blue ribbion from the clinic, 4 1st place ribbions and 3 2nd place ribbions all from western i have a bunch or 3rd and 4th place for english put thatz not wat im talkin about i dont like competeing i hav a stuborn horse that doesnt want to listen 2 any1 but me and i have all these good rewardz but i still dont give any attension to winning
But why do yo keep relating wanting to win with not giving a damn about your horse? Ive been riding english for about 7 years but I can't compete that often because of the money. Nonetheless, I have one first place medal, 5 blue ribbons, reserve champion ribbon, 5 2nd place ribbons and one 2nd place medal. and guess what?
I LOVE MY STUBBORN OVERSIZE BUCKING HORSE TO BITS! I can't imagine my life without him!!! I Thank god I can have him every single day!
howdy, i hear you and my friend have been arguing, i our opinion western better but you may have a different opinion, but me and my friend have rideing since we were like 4, we used to ride english and i just got sick and tired of what i had to do to ride one day with a horse i dont know. but now im at a western pleasure camp with my horse rocco and she has her pony cody i dont just ride prep i ride crazy,
i rode her once and i loved her the next day she slipped on a stick and split her tendon in half and she was put down 7 months later and everyone misses her.. Allys horse Rocco cut his leg in the fence so bad that she couldnt ride him at all last year and probly not this year too cody got a stick in his cheast and i couldnt take him to the farm fair for my 1st time so then i had to ride Shana and she kicked me off then the next year cody almost cut his hole heel off and i couldnt take him 2
ya ive been riding english scince i was 3 for 7 years and i had no idea what the hell western was untill ally took me to HopeValleyFarm and thatz ware i learnd western but i didnt just ride like at my english farm i got to watch how to put the tack on we got to put glitter on the horses and we had to pray before we rode so i got tho no kezzy before i even rode him but now hez dead and i cant ride him anymore the same just happened to Misty i didnt like Misty because i dont like gaited horses
i ride both western and english i place high in western pleasure and im reginaly ranked in english i think western the horse needs more specific skill and muscleing and in english the rider needs to be schooled correctly
I ride both english and western, and I'd have to say I like english a little more, I used to think western was so much easier, but I started doing a bit more advanced western riding and I now think it's about equally challenging
P.S. *JulieLovesShiloh* bareback riding should become a riding category!!! :D
Both are fine as an english rider i prefer it because it is much more graceful and with experience in both i have found that i dont like the way SOME not ALL western riders treat their horses but i guess you could say the same for both styles.
i love western love english but stop fighting dont say ''eww i hate western'' and ''eww i hate english'' but i have to say i love western more than english but my trainer said '' there the same''.
Western is ok, but English is way better IMO. In western you can't feel the horse as well, and I like the feeling of them carring themselves up and off the bit.
Most of the competition I do is in a western saddle. I show western pleasure and I used to show gaited horses western. I ride reiners and barrel racers too. I also got a mare to train for jumping. She's currently hitting 4'6" pretty good. I've riden dressage horses. I guess I'm all-around.
But really, a saddle is just something you sit your ass in. Should you really work harder in one than the other? Shouldn't you try your best at all times? That's all I have to say about that.
ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! western is fun too, but I can do so much more in a jumping saddle than a western one. Pretty much, though, get me on the horse and I'll be all set
I am doing dressage so english but I ride western to. I am the kind of girl that jumps in a western saddle (only like 2 ft) so nothing bad but I think there both amazing. Westerns when Im lazy and dont want to work so hard
i think english is more fun because you get to faster like canter wlak and trot are fast and you get to jmup and western is kind of restrickted ( i know i didnt spell that right i cant spell good) . but i like english a little bitt more i guess cause thats how i waas raised
i have an inasne amount of respect for both because they are both equally difficult. i personally prefer jumping b/c thats what ive always done (except last yr i did reining =). everyone has their own preferance.
i dont want to be mean but um, ilke english then western. i do like western i is just that i am afraid that i will hurt my self like hit my butt or cruch on the horn or i will get my foot in the strup. you know that stuff can really happen you know? i went to this farm or stable i went riding in western i cantered and was trying to keep my butt on the saddle from the horn. and i like to ware a haltment too because is safe. i am not mean just like english then western.too much for you?
hey hay, well i do like western not trying to mean or set you but om, i like and perfer english because it is so fun and you do lots of stuff then western. i know that english just have jumping and dressage but there are other things to. and i dont want you get mad, sad at me but do you know that western is kind of dangerous to then jumping that you can get hurt on the horn and when you going to fall off your foot can get suck in the strup. i am not mean just i like english then western.
barrelprincess101 : I totally agree !! I ride english and i do dressage but i would never say something mean to an western rider (only if he doesn't saw anything mean about english riding)
i've ridden in both english and western, but i was raised up bareback and western, so i guess i've just always been more comfortable bareback barrel racing, but they make u use a western saddle so i have to say that i prefer western, no hard feelings my english friends
ya write barrel racing is soooooo much harder than stupid jumping or stupid english all you have to do in jumping is let your rein go forward and then your horse jumps that simple.
i like both, i am a jumper but i also barrel race. i think they both are hard but i feel that english is more dangerous, just because if you are inexperienced in jumping you can get really hurt and so can your horse.
I like western, it seems less uptight. My cousin rides both and says they are both fun. Most of the horses (..except one) hate when they are ridden English and one bucked my cousin. I guess that's what u get when you teach horses to do both. That same horse is an angel when ridden western. But its only at the stable I go to....not speaking for all the horses in the world so don't get upset....
thats rude, i ride barrels but i'd never disrespect others who ride english. Infact, i get annoyed by my friends who make fun of them BECAUSE english riders work JUST AS HARD as other discplines!
i love western you do alot of the same things in both western and english when you get down to it like we both have to do a mass amount of training and we love our horses! so respect
Ok, normally, I would just say, "Don't EVEN get me started," but you already did.
Many people call western riders, "Rough riders" Our horses go through just as much training as english horses do, and we are by NOT rough or mean to our horses. In fact, some western horses are spoiled and coddled through life.
So excuse me but we aren't any better or worse than english riders, & the same goes for them.
Do not, and I repeat NOT, base your ideas on looks.
I do think that english looks more... fancy I guess, but western was made for the real world and so don't be fooled, they BOTH take a LOT of skill so do some research before you decide what you like.
wow, you dont know anything about me, and i did do barrels, and its just my opinion that english seems more challenging to me than western, okay?? so dont go after me for stating my opinion, apperently you have nothing better to do to.
obviously you dont know the science of barrels, because if you honestly did them you'd think they were equally hard. personally, i think both take lots of great skill.
i rode western for 5 years and i now i hunter jump, i do have respect for western but i have to say i like english much better, because it is more challenging, and in western it is very easy compared to english.
Ok, I don't know what kind of western you rode, but what makes you say it's easy?!?!?! Have you ever tried running barrels? If not, then you should try it sometime. I think that they are BOTH hard, because anything with horses involved takes effort, but
it's up to you to decide what you DO like, not what you don't.
I prefer English, honestly I really can't feel my horse beneath all the leather of the Western saddle. Reminds me of people who listen to their iPod while riding! Don't you want to listen to your horse and to the nature? Besides that, what if there was an emergency?
I started out riding western originally and have mostly switched to english(I still ride western a bit as well) but I definitely prefer english

no offence, but a lot of stuff in your comment is incorrect :) Example, no horse has ever jumped 10 feet (; Also, I have never seen an english rider with their "legs up high?" I actually dont even know what you meant by that? :/ And, what do you meant by "dressage and stuff like that?" Dressage/show jumping/ equitation/ crosscountry are all VERY different things :)

ok srry but in my oppinion western is my favorite i used to ride english and i never understood wat it ment to "love" a horse butttt thats JUST ME and u cane juj me on that but when i go and see mi horse cody all i see is him and i dont care about riding or anything i jus love him and no one else does cuz he is a stubborn brat but i dont care so thats MY OPPINION and i never said english ppl are stuck up i jus dont like the way SOME OF THEM treat thier horses SOM OF THEM not all of them
D0ub13A 1 year ago
I agree, I ride english and i compete but the bond i have with my horse is INSANE. I love him to bits, everyone else says he is annoying to ride because he bucks. So, you can still have a FANTASTIC relationship with your horse even if you ride english. also, if you compete it doesnt mean that you only cared about winning and nothing else. Heck, Rodrigo Pessoa, a LEGEND in the showjumping world pulled his horse out of a combination because he missed his distance and he knew the horse would crash
BrightLights741 1 year ago
if he kept going to the oxer so he pulled his horse out of the combination and yes, when he did this he knew he would lose, but he cared more about the well being of his horse than winning a $250,000 Grand Prix. See? Competing doesnt mean that you only care about winning.
BrightLights741 1 year ago
im jus say very little ppl abuse thier horses if they dont win or hurt them trying.. at every english place ive been to theres alwayz a girl or two hoo thinks itz all about her and at the western farm i ride at now therez this girl and she rides is really energetic but she just runs her all the time and doest warm her up. when she goes on a trail ride she runz up through and bak the whole way a full speed gallop and she just gallopz around the ring no walk around or anything itz jus so annoying
D0ub13A 1 year ago
Excactly. There are abusive and rude people everywere; not just in the 'competing' world. I think it is a bit unfair when you said how people that compete only care about winning because nobody would have any ribbons if it wasnt for that amazing bond they share with their horse.
BrightLights741 1 year ago
im sayin abusive everything not just competeing:| i jus dont like the english or western "abuserz" hoo go crazy about winning somthing, run their horse to death, and if they dont win they take it on their horse:| i hate those people
D0ub13A 1 year ago
in my oppinion i dont like to comete i have a grand champion ribbon, a champion ribbon, a blue ribbion from the clinic, 4 1st place ribbions and 3 2nd place ribbions all from western i have a bunch or 3rd and 4th place for english put thatz not wat im talkin about i dont like competeing i hav a stuborn horse that doesnt want to listen 2 any1 but me and i have all these good rewardz but i still dont give any attension to winning
D0ub13A 1 year ago
But why do yo keep relating wanting to win with not giving a damn about your horse? Ive been riding english for about 7 years but I can't compete that often because of the money. Nonetheless, I have one first place medal, 5 blue ribbons, reserve champion ribbon, 5 2nd place ribbons and one 2nd place medal. and guess what?
I LOVE MY STUBBORN OVERSIZE BUCKING HORSE TO BITS! I can't imagine my life without him!!! I Thank god I can have him every single day!
BrightLights741 1 year ago
howdy, i hear you and my friend have been arguing, i our opinion western better but you may have a different opinion, but me and my friend have rideing since we were like 4, we used to ride english and i just got sick and tired of what i had to do to ride one day with a horse i dont know. but now im at a western pleasure camp with my horse rocco and she has her pony cody i dont just ride prep i ride crazy,
2XOJohnDeereGirlOX2 1 year ago
i rode her once and i loved her the next day she slipped on a stick and split her tendon in half and she was put down 7 months later and everyone misses her.. Allys horse Rocco cut his leg in the fence so bad that she couldnt ride him at all last year and probly not this year too cody got a stick in his cheast and i couldnt take him to the farm fair for my 1st time so then i had to ride Shana and she kicked me off then the next year cody almost cut his hole heel off and i couldnt take him 2
D0ub13A 1 year ago
ya ive been riding english scince i was 3 for 7 years and i had no idea what the hell western was untill ally took me to HopeValleyFarm and thatz ware i learnd western but i didnt just ride like at my english farm i got to watch how to put the tack on we got to put glitter on the horses and we had to pray before we rode so i got tho no kezzy before i even rode him but now hez dead and i cant ride him anymore the same just happened to Misty i didnt like Misty because i dont like gaited horses
D0ub13A 1 year ago
same with her of course shes not the strongest girl but when it coms to rideing she can out ride anyone.. yall take the hint
2XOJohnDeereGirlOX2 1 year ago
@D0ub13A Take a look around. There are plently of cruel western riders too. Your point is not valid.
hardlygone123 1 year ago
i ride both western and english i place high in western pleasure and im reginaly ranked in english i think western the horse needs more specific skill and muscleing and in english the rider needs to be schooled correctly

i have ridden both and i love western i hate english but let me go bareback anyday

I ride western because i'm a cowgirl lol jk but I think English is cool but I think going to stick to western lol
horsesrmylife6 2 years ago 2
I ride English and I've never tried Western so obviously I'd have to say English, but everyone has their own opinion :) x
JellyBean069 2 years ago
I ride both english and western, and I'd have to say I like english a little more, I used to think western was so much easier, but I started doing a bit more advanced western riding and I now think it's about equally challenging
P.S. *JulieLovesShiloh* bareback riding should become a riding category!!! :D
KarbonKopy98 2 years ago 3
I ride both seats and I love them. So let's go with bareback and not start and arguement

I ride English. But western looks kul.
Horses4Life132 2 years ago
Also English takes more skill from both horse and rider but both styles are hard.
popdancers7 2 years ago
Both are fine as an english rider i prefer it because it is much more graceful and with experience in both i have found that i dont like the way SOME not ALL western riders treat their horses but i guess you could say the same for both styles.

stormvalleystables you r right

i love western love english but stop fighting dont say ''eww i hate western'' and ''eww i hate english'' but i have to say i love western more than english but my trainer said '' there the same''.
ThePony1221 2 years ago
Western is ok, but English is way better IMO. In western you can't feel the horse as well, and I like the feeling of them carring themselves up and off the bit.
StormValleyStables 2 years ago
i like my horses the opposite, up into the bit :]
barrelprincess101 2 years ago
?? I don't get what your saying! lol
StormValleyStables 2 years ago
Most of the competition I do is in a western saddle. I show western pleasure and I used to show gaited horses western. I ride reiners and barrel racers too. I also got a mare to train for jumping. She's currently hitting 4'6" pretty good. I've riden dressage horses. I guess I'm all-around.
But really, a saddle is just something you sit your ass in. Should you really work harder in one than the other? Shouldn't you try your best at all times? That's all I have to say about that.
TheSloneh 2 years ago
English riding. I enjoy western, but english is so much more interesting to me.

i think english is more fun because you get to faster like canter wlak and trot are fast and you get to jmup and western is kind of restrickted ( i know i didnt spell that right i cant spell good) . but i like english a little bitt more i guess cause thats how i waas raised
prospectbay123 2 years ago
i have an inasne amount of respect for both because they are both equally difficult. i personally prefer jumping b/c thats what ive always done (except last yr i did reining =). everyone has their own preferance.
Aceyfacey3 2 years ago
I never rode english, but western. But I have to say english or maybe both. (since for english, you get to jump.)
Dolphin8050able 2 years ago
i dont want to be mean but um, ilke english then western. i do like western i is just that i am afraid that i will hurt my self like hit my butt or cruch on the horn or i will get my foot in the strup. you know that stuff can really happen you know? i went to this farm or stable i went riding in western i cantered and was trying to keep my butt on the saddle from the horn. and i like to ware a haltment too because is safe. i am not mean just like english then western.too much for you?
mscatydid96 2 years ago
hey hay, well i do like western not trying to mean or set you but om, i like and perfer english because it is so fun and you do lots of stuff then western. i know that english just have jumping and dressage but there are other things to. and i dont want you get mad, sad at me but do you know that western is kind of dangerous to then jumping that you can get hurt on the horn and when you going to fall off your foot can get suck in the strup. i am not mean just i like english then western.
mscatydid96 2 years ago
barrelprincess101 : I totally agree !! I ride english and i do dressage but i would never say something mean to an western rider (only if he doesn't saw anything mean about english riding)
line600 2 years ago 2
i've ridden in both english and western, but i was raised up bareback and western, so i guess i've just always been more comfortable bareback barrel racing, but they make u use a western saddle so i have to say that i prefer western, no hard feelings my english friends
BunnysBarrelGirl 2 years ago
ya write barrel racing is soooooo much harder than stupid jumping or stupid english all you have to do in jumping is let your rein go forward and then your horse jumps that simple.
fuckboyee 2 years ago
you know what? BOTH ARE FRICKEN HARD!

prospectbay123 2 years ago
You have to get up into a two point position, you have to set the horse up to the jump perfectly etc. So it is not easy
StormValleyStables 2 years ago
i like both, i am a jumper but i also barrel race. i think they both are hard but i feel that english is more dangerous, just because if you are inexperienced in jumping you can get really hurt and so can your horse.
MissYumYumCherie 2 years ago 2
I like western, it seems less uptight. My cousin rides both and says they are both fun. Most of the horses (..except one) hate when they are ridden English and one bucked my cousin. I guess that's what u get when you teach horses to do both. That same horse is an angel when ridden western. But its only at the stable I go to....not speaking for all the horses in the world so don't get upset....

fifi101scmscheer 2 years ago
Ok, normally, I would just say, "Don't EVEN get me started," but you already did.
Many people call western riders, "Rough riders" Our horses go through just as much training as english horses do, and we are by NOT rough or mean to our horses. In fact, some western horses are spoiled and coddled through life.
So excuse me but we aren't any better or worse than english riders, & the same goes for them.
They both take skill, and dedication.
SO STOP ARGUING AND MIND YOUR OWN BUSSINESS!!!!!

I'm currently taking English Show Riding.
I absolutely love it!
If someone says that English Show Riding isn't a sport, go take a lesson, it's not as easy as you think it is.

SimmedSim12 2 years ago 3
Do not, and I repeat NOT, base your ideas on looks.
I do think that english looks more... fancy I guess, but western was made for the real world and so don't be fooled, they BOTH take a LOT of skill so do some research before you decide what you like.
MyCottageHarp 2 years ago
wow, you dont know anything about me, and i did do barrels, and its just my opinion that english seems more challenging to me than western, okay?? so dont go after me for stating my opinion, apperently you have nothing better to do to.
strangemoments 2 years ago
obviously you dont know the science of barrels, because if you honestly did them you'd think they were equally hard. personally, i think both take lots of great skill.
barrelprincess101 2 years ago
i rode western for 5 years and i now i hunter jump, i do have respect for western but i have to say i like english much better, because it is more challenging, and in western it is very easy compared to english.
strangemoments 2 years ago
Ok, I don't know what kind of western you rode, but what makes you say it's easy?!?!?! Have you ever tried running barrels? If not, then you should try it sometime. I think that they are BOTH hard, because anything with horses involved takes effort, but
it's up to you to decide what you DO like, not what you don't.
MyCottageHarp 2 years ago
I ride both English and western but perfer western!

I prefer English, honestly I really can't feel my horse beneath all the leather of the Western saddle. Reminds me of people who listen to their iPod while riding! Don't you want to listen to your horse and to the nature? Besides that, what if there was an emergency?
