we don't pump water from the pool to drink. The pool water is not sitting water, it is constantly flowing out of the building at a high rate of exit speed. The water flows downward away from the drinking water. We DO NOT drink the pool water, it is used for washing only. I DO NOT dump the poop diapers into the water. This video is peed on diapers ONLY. I seperate the diapers and wash the poop diapers by hand seperately up in the dome.
@roidroid I don't wash the poop diapers in the drinking water. In this video I am washing the peed on diapers only and it doesn't go near the drinking water area. The water tube is above the water line and never goes under the water line. The drinking water is on the other side of the pool water and is flowing down from where I wash and exiting out the building.
Thats a great question! I think I will be doing some experimenation on making my own citrus cleaner in an upcoming video, as well as making my own lye for soap, etc. I will keep you posted. While I don't endorse any specific cleaners. The way I usually shop is this...if I could have consumed it without dying from it, then it is probably safe. I will also try to put up a video of testing out some "old school" cleaning suggestions passed down from the ages. :)
You Rock!!! I have been looking for cleaners that are free of chemicals & actually get things clean! What are some products you use? (for indoor cleaning... laundry detergent... dusting stuff & all that fun stuff. Any advise on what to use?
Now wait a minute. I don't remember seeing more than one "pool" in the spring dome. And I'm pretty sure Jaimie mentioned some time ago that you pump drinking water from there up to the dome. Please tell me there is another hole from which you pump water out of... :-D
Have you thought about a pump to get water up closer to the house? I think you can get crank style pumps online for a few hundred dollars, never tried them though.
Also, I bet you guys could figure out how to make a wringer somehow... hmm...
Yea the idea was for that area to be a hot tub, but it just hasn't panned out like that yet. I did think of doing something to spin or wring out the clothes and am probably going to set up something to handle that, so it saves my hands. :)
Well actually no those diaper were not poopy diapers, I did mention that I thought, but maybe I forgot too. The poppy diapers are presoaked in a wet bucket, after they are rinsed off in the sink. And really a little breastmilk poop on your hands, can be washed off, After being a girl and going through all things girls do, a little poop is nothing, Infants fed exclusively breastmilk, don't really had the same stinkiness of infants on formula or food items. IMO
is that little dome an area to bathe too? would be neat to hook an old bike to another tumbler like the one you have, drill a bunch of holes in it and use it as your spin cycle,,,
Yea, sometimes I get lazy and take stuff to the laundro matic...but if I keep up with the laundry (on an every other day basis) it usually isn't necessary.
I got the washer from a friend for free actually!! :) But I think you can order them online. This particular one is called a Wonder Wash. Hooray for saving money and not using silly systems.
I love these vids! I am always wondering how you all do things out there. I pictured you lugging loads down the mountain in to town to the laundromat. This is way better!
Very cool

I'm a little worried by washing poopy nappies so close to the drinking-water supply.
The whole "Don't shit where you eat" thing to avoid risks of spreading dysentery from cross-contamination.
I'd personally be washing it all outside the water-dome.
But i'm sure you know what you're doing Dash. That's certainly a neat washing machine.

Actually, believe it or not, that was about 2 days worth of diapers. She typically goes through about 6-8 diapers a day. :)

and that, of course, was only one day's worth of diapers ;)
