I'm sorry, but Conservative Chrisitans are dumb. They believe that the embodiment of their God (Jesus) delivered a message of peace and pacifism, but at the same time they believe it is their God given right to carry weapons at all times? This paradoxical thinking is what allows them to be dicks to the entire world but still claim it is in the pursuit of peace. Based on their notion of the character of Jesus, I'm pretty sure he would not carry a weapon at all.

The excerpt in and of itself wouldn't even make any sense if we maintain the immaterialistic nature of Jesus that is often preached, not that it would be the first contradiction in the bible, however. . . Secondly, for anyone to take the bible literally in the year 2012, they would have to be retarded. Either that, or extremely delusional.

@rarmst2 This fallacy of "baby Jesus meek & mild" is a common misnomer. If you were to read the New Testament you would know this. In this verse Jesus is being slandered. He makes a direct & penetrating response. By saying "this is taken out of context" you disagree with it. @flywheel702 You are putting words in my mouth. The passage isn't necessarily about criminals at all. Also, the fallacy you mention isn't necessarily so. There are many stories (emphasis on story) in the bible that present character traits of Jesus. Many are quite contradictory, which isn't suprising seeing as the New Testament was written about 150 years after the death of Jesus. Among other things, this is what makes the Bible irrelevant. Stop deluding yourself.

@flywheel702 Furthermore, if you are trying to reference the bible as THE source for morality amongst human, then you are retarded. There are many societies that function quite well (low murder/rape/theft per capita) that disregard the bible. There are also many soceities that take the bible literally (ie. middle eastern countires and the bible belt) and these areas we see a much higher rate of what we would call moral crimes or atrocities. Morality is developed socially and evolutionarily.

He just got my vote. Newt is an amazing speaker but I want to point out one thing that is not very well known. He is good friends with William Fortschen, author of One Second After and he is a supporter of EMP awareness. As a matter of fact he even wrote the forward for One Second After. In this very speech Newt mentioned him as Bill Fortschen. If your a gun rights supporter and or prepper then Newt should be your candidate. Please don't just youtube his vids next November. @genemz5 This ONE case should have been a felony. That crime was no misdemeanor. Felons are prohibited in purchasing firearms...that is fine. In that particular case the problem lies with the charge. If Newt was so great for the Second Amendment, why didn't he repeal the assault weapons ban? He controlled the majority of the House.
