  • I rent in downtown Vancouver and I pay market value - I have no sympathy for those people who think they have a life-long right to pay 50% below market in the most prestigious neighborhood in Canada.

Not letting owners charge market rates reduces all incentive to invest in the upkeep of those buildings. T. I don't believe that the appearance of the west end should be negatively impacted just so some freeloaders can get subsidized rent.

  • Canada is a free country, right? Don't like your rent? Move!

  • Tenants are less able to defend themselves due to the economic imbalance that exists between landlord and tenant. Renter households have annual incomes that are, on average, about half or less of owner incomes.

Although landlords complain about rental income, they make a decent profit. Otherwise they wouldn't be in the business in the first place. That dosen't give Landlords the right to treat tenants as if they are second-class citiizens.

  • They are not just heartless . They are greedy. Owners mking tons of money off of renters. The government doesn't care. In Saskatchewan there are no caps on rental increases either.
