I do, however, think that it's important to spread out money being paid for health care. Yes, it may cost YOU extra money, but can you really put a price on human life? Having a universal health care plan isn't forcing the people to buy anything, it's taxing the people in order to supply a consistent system.

Let me ask you, where does the money for this service come from? That's right, from the government and from the pockets of the people. In fact money is constantly squandered because our current flawed system doesn't give general healthcare. As for whether it's constitutional or not, we'll have to let the supreme court decide.

THE POINT is that if more people were insured there would be less waiting time in the emergency rooms as the uninsured are FORCED to use the emergency rooms for ANY medical concern. Also immigrants aren't the only ones who are uninsured. If you get health care thru your job and lose your job...there goes your health care. If you develop an illness too expensive for your HMO...you're dropped! If you have a prior illness...HMO's can turn you away because your illness is too expensive!

For the sake of argument lets say there is no insurance at all, because there is no one to insure America as a country itself. You need money to be able to make things work, to pay the doctors.

If you have no money, your in debt to 35 different groups of people, you make 1.4 trillion less then you make while borrowing more money to maintain status quo..

Also there is no public option single payer option in this bill. It makes it so everyone has access to affordable health care...not free. It covers 30 million Americans without it out of the 40 million who don't have it. Of course it won't be free but in the long run it will be much cheaper than being gouged by profit making insurance companies by providing competition. The bill also cuts WASTE not benefits in Medicare to help fund it.

Well actually according to the Congressional Budget Office Obama's health care plan brings down the deficit...When more people are in the pool receiving the product it becomes cheaper :) If health insurance companies aren't given any competition and aren't reigned in they will continue to hike up people WHO ALREADY HAVE INSURANCE's rates sky high. Just this month Well Point which made 2 BILLION in profits in a QUARTER hiked rates up 25 - 49 PERCENT for profit. We need to change this!

Please re-read your own statement. By definition "terminal illness" means something that: "cannot be cured or adequately treated and that is reasonably expected to result in the death of the patient". My father was diagnosed w/ cancer and given less than six months to live. Medicare fully covered comfort treatments of radiation therapy. True, Medicare will not cover aggressive treatments under those circumstances. But I find it more cruel to put an 80 something year old man through such.
