Are there really that many radio signals floating around? They mostly come from earth imo.

The interface looks outdated and I dont really see any information that is really enjoyable to observe (first impression). You need to get people to really feel like they are helping AND that their big rigs are being useful. I know it sounds a bit wierd but i can guarantee that if you satisfy the users more, then you will get more help rather than just those who believe in the cause.

I've run SETI at home for 6 years. As far as I'm concerned, it would be more ridiculous to say there's no one out there, than to think there is. I'll get back to you as soon as I hear someone :)

@giselle21able To run SETI@home, you download a program called BOINC, a free platform that lets you run SETI@home and other similar projects (LHC@home, cosmology@home) on your computer. Through this platform you connect to whatever project you want and it will begin working. You can set it to work all the time, with a certain percentage of memory, or only when the computer is idle for a certain period. I've been using it for years and it's very cool and interesting.

If the signals they send are simple it's because the simple ones are the ONLY possible signals that can be sent over extremely long distances. Anything too complex would be impossible to read after making it to another solar system because of the interference it had to go through to get to us.Same is with the signal we send into space.Nothing overly complex. Get's the message across that we are there and nothing more.

By the way aliens don't really understand a being who just stays on earthand just uses phones, computers, and radios. This is like talking to ancient civilizations at their worst. @dan007iel it all depends on your preferences, i have mine set to use 100% of my cpu whilst idle and 50% whilst i am using it, go to seti@home.com and check your preferences on your account management. you can more or less set every aspect of how the programme runs on your system in account management or preferences in the options tab (running in advanced mode). it also allows you to download extra work loads to cover up to 7 days of work if you wanted to

We can't help it if aliens use technology unknown to us. We hope at least a few aliens use radio signals like ours.

If they do use radio, they might like to learn from our views on the universe, just as we'd like to learn from them.

Even if they aren't trying to contact us, we might pick up signals they sent to each other. Human radio and TV signals have already reached nearby stars. Anybody out there listening might already know we're here, if they're within range of our signals.

Why are we so interested in trying to find microbes on Mars? We spend billions of dollars doing it. I think any advanced civilization would have goten that way because they have an innate curiosity about the universe, and as a result, would want to know what's "out there".
