I don't deny god, especially to those who believe, But I think this song has kind of a wrong message. I mean sure put all your faith in god and love him and strive to be the best you can be but but telling god to take complete control and things along those lines is almost insulting. Well, when it comes to puting all your faith in the Lord, you are 100% correct, however, when it comes to God's control, I think it is a little less imposible and a lot less insulting than you may think. If you mean insulting to God, then you should remember that God wants to take our troubles away, and He is willing to humble Himself completely to do so. I believe God desires for us to use our free will for His glory. He can do great things through you, if we give Him control.
