  • these guys r nothing 2-3 hours loool, people like me stick 6 - 18 hours a day! these guy or nothn just a bunch off regulars lol come 2 think of it actual gamers would rather game than go 2 an interview

  • @fmishaan1 ya im fucking rolling 7-9 hours a day. fuck the world.

  • screw my life im 20 yrs old live with parents and am only worried about getting gd net all the time and having a great gaming pc, used 2 have great life lots of friends and used 2 be very physical, now im around 150 kg and play fps all the time dnt gve a dam about old friends tht i knew over 10 yrs, and dnt even know htf 2 change my life.....

  • Video games are addiction its not a myth its nothing ,why? because i have been in that addiction and i have been bored of it after 7 years of runescape :D

  • @LegendColgo YEAAH RUNESCAPE :D

  • @WilliamCajina hey are you ok? hows your life now?

  • @WilliamCajina yea i hear you. Gamers Always strive for more and whats wrong with wanting a better life? Nothing and we use video games to cope. Gamers want more they arent satisfied with an unpleasant life so we look for the better.

  • I am addicted to games

  • 86 hours a week on average ^_^ hi 5

  • 10 hours a week? XD Buhahaha I thought he would say "a day"

  • @LoLFilmStudios That´s more my style

  • @WilliamCajina

    Taking your own life?

    Do it.

  • @TheGreatMightyPoo1 are you sadistic by any chance?

  • @Dvizard77

    No, I'm from /b/.

  • @TheGreatMightyPoo1 fuck you bitch

  • @ChampionsGamez

    Lol why you mad though?

  • "before you know it 5 hours goes by" really?! Even if it is a amazing game at around the 3 hour mark I start getting restless like I'm wasting the day or night, and shut it off. Learn control people.

  • great, great doco man

  • Videogame addiction is a myth.

I swear that some people genuinely don't undertsand the word addiction, I see the same thing in marijuana legalization debates. There is a massive diference between psychological habituation and physical addiction.

I like playing videogames, watching movies and reading books. But nobody seems to question the fact that without a good book to read in bed i find it impossible to get to sleep.

  • @Amarkcalledme I think you don't know what you are saying. You ever been addicted? to anything? People are supposed to make something out of their lifes, have some RECREATIVE FUN when they have some time off and it doesnt matter what it is you enjoy. But if you can't afford to sustain existence in a normal way because of something you can't seem to live witout they will find themselves in a sticky situation. Pasttime activity... or escape from reality?

  • @Amarkcalledme

    Hey, someone who gets it.

I have nothing to hide, I play a LOT of games. Due to the holidays, I play around 8 hours a day, if I have nothing else to do that day. This does NOT mean that I neglect the people around me, shower monthly or order pizza everyday because I'm too lazy to make some actual food. It means that I play 8 hours a day.

When you see a program about this video game addiction, it's usually an extreme case, people who have an actual problem, perhaps a social one.

  • "people shouldn't be allowed to get that involved"... more social engineering talk from a newly formed know it all. If we can't take responsibility for our actions, what's the point of being an adult?

Let's all stop telling each other how we should live our lives, and start regulating our own affairs... fix yourself and the world will follow.

  • Some people just be wrong in the head, it no matter if they draw or write or play games , they just wrong in the head is all. It not the game it the people who be crazy!

  • This video can be described in one word bullsh#t

  • I know people who play 130 hours a week. 10 is pretty normal.

  • @StarryEchoes you "know" people who play 18 hours a day "on average" ...well good for you...

  • IM ADDICTED AND PROUD!!!!

  • @empireatwar2 and you have fucked up your life too :)

  • "Denying that you have an addiction is a symptom of having that addiction."

  • I play because where i live there are like 2 kids that i hate, everyone else being over the age of 55, no way to get to anywhere worth going and fuck all to do in the village and my mum thinks i'm addicted. stfu

  • @SingularNinjular doesn't matter the reason mate, there are serious physical and psychological consequences if you play too much

  • I play because where i live there are like 2 kids that i hate, no way to get to anywhere worth going and fuck all to do in the village and my mum thinks i'm addicted. stfu

  • Haha if this is addiction than I'm way beyond curing...I used to play 12 hours or more a day. I have a little bit more self control now but I still sometimes prefer my games over my friends

  • A baby died omg, it's time to put down the controller!!!

  • i play gt4 and gta4 way to much ..i wouldn't call it an addiction exactly..i'll easy drop it when i have something better to do.

  • I play 3 Hours a day... thats like... 21 hours a week... i'm not addicted... I just like to play games

  • haha the guy is playing F.E.A.R and final fantasy 10

  • No, just no..

  • to escape gaming all i need its friends but thats too hard lol

  • @Gaomon752 At times when you realize what part of your life and personality has been lost and how memories that could be real are instead sh**, you know that these three categories are not the only ones.

  • i played wow ... it was my life i played atLEAST! 10 hours a day+ that was even when i went to school i played atLEAST 20 hours on a weekend and slept for 2 hours then came back i raided naxx and 60 with death and taxes... worlds first everything... so can someone tell me if i was addicted ? :P

  • I have an extremely addictive personality... but I also have severe ADHD. Yes, I am serious.

My addictions hit fast, and then go away very fast.

  • u no nothing about gaming... lol or addiction and its definition =D

  • I play 48HRs a day.

  • White guy (not the one with spiky hair) is a tool, obviously is just basing his answers on his opinion. What kind of idiot doesn't think that video games aren't addictive?

  • these ppl know nothing about game addiction

  • I'm fed up of hearing people calling each other "Addicted".

For instance, I can play for 10 hours a day throughout the whole week, it doesn't mean I'm addicted, as soon as I stop playing I get back to the real world. Addiction is when you literally crave for something. So please don't call people addicted just because they play a lot.

  • lol 10 hours a week is alot? i play like 20hours a day for the past 5 years and its depressing

  • VERRY FUNNY

also i play 14 hours a day ,maybe i'm gonna be violent and hunt you all down like in GTA

  • what if you play-cause your not interested in the same crap everyone else is? God,i hate how theres a world order that you have to do everything other people do to not be called "an addict" of anything.

  • final fantasy suck!!!

  • @Frosentite haha i probably average 7 hours a weekday

  • Can anyone tell me about a another dokumentary about video games additives? i need to my exam.. link me text's and films please.

  • Do you even know what the word additive means?

  • VIDEO GAMES PWN

  • im not a game addict! :-/

i just enjoy playing COD 10 hours a day

it really good you people should try it :)

  • oh please. internet cafes don't encourage.

its for ppl who don't have enough money to afford a computer and printer or whatever.

And ofcourse for gaming. but they certainly do not ENCOURAGE them to "live" there

  • You should make them watch this video. Its the new Red vs blue PSA about the importance of video gaming in moderation!! its called "All things in moderation" it's at the gamestop website. I cant put the link in but if you add /gs/landing/odstpsa after gamestop(dot)com you can get to it.

  • I've lost my husband to gaming. He plays from the time he gets up to the time he goes to bed and he can't stop. It's kinda sad to watch someone stop living life for a video game):

  • My husband is doing the same thing. We went to counseling for many other problems but this is a new one. He will play all night and then go towork. I am fed up and ready to leave.

  • please don't do that, I'm a man and had that problem, I solved it: the game was not the problem, I was trying just to isolate from the world in order to think. I know it sounds weird, but it was a kind of meditation to solve a bigger problem.

  • ive never had an "addiction" to games but look like this if you are having fun and enjoying your life wrather its a game or going to the movies??? or going out to eat if you are living life in a way thats good for you so long as you dont quit being a responsible parent or other bad things me now i would never trade going out and having fun to beat a level unless its like gonna take me 5 minuets ....

  • get him to stop........ :|

  • SWEET DOCUMENTARY.

ive got one up myself on gaming.

Feel free to check it out.

    u get 5/5 :D

  • Does playing 50 hrs a week count as addicted =P

  • there is different types of addictions, there is drugs eg. "physical" and "mental" ones. its hard to explain, but i believe addiction exist everywhere.

  • If there are gambling addictions; there are video game addictions.

The stimulus is sensual, the biological response is release of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin.

The most addictive video games use variable reinforcement= gambling. Some examples include World of Warcraft and Diablo 2 the item system is variable in nature just like a slot machine or a card game.

  • What is the name of the first game we can see at the beginning ?

  • gta san andreas best game ever

  • 5.03 I rather play with her then games O_O But ehhh I don't really know but personally I love porn better. I love games but I only play like a handfull (1-3) everytime. The ones I really love (NHL, NFS, Superbike, Trackmania, Air Hockey, Pool). Mostly racers and sports because you can beat times. Other games that once you played them get bored quick. And I hate those RPG's and online game nerds. There's not even enough classic or very good games to be addicted ahah.

  • i played like resident evil 1 on gamecube,mortal kombat 4,ninja gaiden 1/BLACK and gears of war,castlevania,sonic the hedgehog,mortal kombat trilogy,Unreal Tournament,turok,black ,goldeneye 007

  • Cool, I have console classix with wich I can play NES, SNES, Sega, Atari, Gameboy and other console games with on my PC. I love simple retro games most. I take playability over graphics anyday. I think older games are more addictive. 90's games mostly I say.

  • If anyone watching this is addicted, I have a cure :)

Fiirstly, arrange your games from your favourite to your least favourite.

    day 1--Play your favourite game

day 2--Play your second favourite game

    day 3--etc.

Basically play all of your games in a rota, one per day. It doesn't matter how much you play, but eventually you will stop being addicted. I discovered it by accident, and it worked really well for me. You still get the gaming "kick" but you trick your mind out of the addiction

  • its just the concept of mind over matter you can get addicted to ANYTHING you just allow yourself to get addicted its all in your mind

  • i dont understand how people can be addicted to video games. i play video games everyday for 2 or 3 hours, i cant go for more than 3 or 4 because it gets you bored, going outside and playing spports and hanging out is so much better

  • unless your parents don't want you to go outside or if you dont live near your friends (my lil cousin) I'm really the only one who gets to go outside,

  • its possible to play vid games A LOT and not be hooked...but it takes friends so you dont get bored out of your mind and to help you keep a life....i play vid games ALL the freakin time when im at home...but its just cause there is nothing to do here....i would ditch vid games to hang out with friends anyday..i recently went to new york...my cousin had a ps3...i never even touched it because there is sooo much that you can do in new york...but yeah...i think i made my point

  • i totally agree with u. i have the same situation as you. i live in a really boring town so i play video games a LOT as well.

  • same here

  • @Shaggy8251993

    you...are...me...

    :D

I think exactly the same!!! I use "..." very much :D

  • @Shaggy8251993 I totally agree.

  • @Shaggy8251993

    I agree.

  • yo just because everyone calls u an idiot doesnt mean than you should carry out their wish. Why end yur life because of people, look from today stop, write down thingsa about your self , yur strengths and your weeknesses. look and yur weaknesses and see what you can do to become stronger. Praise from people is good yes but private victories are much better because then give you more confidence in your self. Im 24 and i have been gaming since super mario world trust me it fucks up yur life.

  • most of these is mmo please stop making false advertising for all video games

  • does ONLINE VIDEO game addiction exist? title not accurate

  • Banned. Sounds like you're the moron

  • Wow...great documentary! I know some people who suffer from vg addiction and I do believe that it is a real disease/problem. I think that there should be more public awareness on this issue. It's just so terrible when all a person wants to do is nothing but play video games to the point where they start to ignore their own health needs. :(

  • why don't you clean the sand out of your vagina and quit crying.

  • rofl with an attitude like that youll stay a loser forever

  • u sound like a Loser... I was Kidding Bro...kkk

  • What the fuck kind of shit is this?

People can't play video games any more without having to partake in some retarded documentary when they start playing a lot or DO become addicts?

Why does it matter if the addiction starts interfering with real-life?

It just means that real-life wasn't that important to them and I think it's important for YOU, the video compiler. to back off, because you wouldn't like it if somebody questioned your video game habits, would you?

  • haha ten hours a week aint shit!! when halo 3 dropped i played prob 8-10 a day , DIPSET BITCH!!!

  • lol, i hate people who play games to escape real life.

  • then whats the point?

  • The point of video games? How about having fun and killing some time you have to spare? And not escaping life? If you play video games to escape life your really screwed.

  • in my opinon >.>

  • Does Video Game addiction Exist? Is the sky blue, faggot?

  • is the pope catholic?

  • haha that first bloke, there was a time when i was playing 10 hours a week..that's only just over an hour a day lol

  • i used to play like 10 hours A DAY (runescape)

Just couldn't stop... it's like alcoholism

and i felt bad at school that i didn't had things done in time.

  • thats like 2 hours every week day, pffft

  • News flash folks, the times these people quoted are nothing near video game addiction, and that girl refers to it simply as "warcraft"... epic fail. Interesting video but not a documentary on video game addiction it shouldn't be too difficult to find 70+ hours a week players.

  • thetidsy3, Exactly like you ^^

  • i can top all of you when i get home all i do is play online all day and gess what i still only whey about 118 poundes and am 16 so this vid is game and everbody that hates video games me and the rest of my freinds hate you u cant beat us video games will not fall

  • congragulations. you're an idiot, and you have a no life.

  • Awesome! You're so 1337 at games? Want a cookie?

    -get a life

  • Your a loser.

  • school nights, i probably leave 1 hour for eating/homework, the rest 6 or so hours is gaming

  • I like this short film my friend. It's an interesting topic, good lighting, maybe a microphone next time.

  • i have played game for a whole day and a half , i guess am easily addicted

  • 10 hours a week. . . thats not addicted. Wate till u start going 8 hours a day.

  • Right try 80+ hours a week

  • @xtobiex

yeah... 8h a day its on me... but not games, i dont have any game, i'm watching youtube. creating music, and... i dont know... doing something on internet...

  • @xtobiex OMFG Like im 13 and i go like 12 hours a day atleast xD

  • Sounds like you just want to start a fight with people who like video games :\

  • lol what should be illegal is to have morons(you) incase you havnt noticed games is allot in life (not for me and i dont mean it as in playing but in how much monye is made in selling games producing games etc etc) now stfu and stop being a gay faggot

  • death threats for someone as pathetic as you ? no thanks

  • hi Jack Thompson how is the family going?

  • When a gamer realizes hes finally hes addicted and lost many of his friends, he'll probs attmpt suicide, but will just puke up every 5 mins for the next 24 hours from taking 32 pills and then be given some councilling and asked many questions.

  • game addiction is a chemical problem. Gaming releases a chemical called dopamine, especially if you are good and really like playing. Dopamine is constantly rushing while in game play, so it is energizing. What else is that it does not cost much brain power, so its like aone way flow of pleasure. This addiction however is no different from anyother addiction regarding pleasure. It is the same thing, different form.

  • No it's completely different which is why it was voted not to be officially classified as addiction by the American Medical Association. The preferred term by doctors is Video Game Fanatic, as calling them addicts belittles the true meaning of addiction.

  • viensdestonie, sorry for marking your email as a spam. I was gonna reply to you but i wrong clicked and accidentally clicked spam.

  • recently towards the end of high school i find myself gaming less and less...:( and my xbox 360 got the red ring and i felt too cheap to pay for it hehe....

  • "I can quit any time i chose"

#1 excuse given by drug addicts 30 years ago and alcoholics 60 years

these people are using false comparisons and excuses to hide their addiction.

  • It's an escape most kids and adults find pretty innocent and harmless at first. A parent would obviously prefer her son or daughter playing video games over doing drugs and drinking.

I have an addictive personality myself. I enjoy video games for the visual atmosphere and gameplay but I know when to quit. I can't see myself playing all day long.

  • lol i hear you man i can't stay even five minutes talking to a non-gamer cuz they just have nothing in common! They don't know us!

  • That's nothing man. For me I think 8 hours or more is an addiction. But i seriously have to stop playing video games. But it's hard. But I still manage a very good life While playing video games.

  • videogames and mmorpg's FTW!!!!!!!!! I don't care what people say I am a video game addict, have no life, and I think that video games are better than hanging out with people and partying!!!! Videogames 4 lyfe!!!!

P.S. I'm not even joking about this I swear I'm serious.

  • For you, it's not "Videogames 4 lyfe!!!!". It's more like, "Videogames until my mom and dad die of old age and there is no one around to pay for my 3 WoW accounts!!!!"

  • hahahaha

  • SOOOO TRUE

  • 5/6 hours a day? ROFLMAO who are you? what happens if i play for 2 days a week at 5hrs a day? ur getting on my nubs, go away and complain someplace else

  • I think everyone is focusing too much on the hours of play time. I interviewed 3 different gamers. One who rarely plays and she wasn't very good. One that plays recreationaly, a couple hours a day. And the last guy plays 12 -15 or more hours a day on weekends and several hours a day during the week. They all agreeded that some people may find game playing interfering with there real lives. If this is you, cut back a bit. If you have a friend missing work or dropping out, tell them to cut back...

  • @rageinproductions You're right, it's not the hours it's the way you think and obsess about the game. It's what the game means to you and how you rely on it and identify with it.

  • 10 hours a week is not addiction... 5/6 hours a day is

  • LMAO, that's a major cutback on me. 5/6 hours a day isn't nothing for me. 10-12 hours is just enough for me. Sometimes i feel like I need more. But That's only on the weekends.

  • i guess i was never addicted to videogames then.. i thought i was when for i while i did play 5/6 hours a day

  • I am a game addict. I want to stop.

My mind keeps stopping me to stop it.

I always end up playing in the end.

    HELP! HELP!

My grades are dropping.. I need to get a "A"!!!!

  • the first thing you need to do is change your name from lordofthenoob to something not so related. hang out with your friends, go places, get a sport or some kinda other hobbie. and if all ur friends are addicts too, either try to talk them out of it or get some new friends. I'd suggest that you do everything you can to stop playing completely for like 2 weeks. when u play again after that, ull realise just how much time you'd been wasting. Good Luck!

  • I'll try. Thanks =)

  • i was a videogame addict . before my father made me realize that life was just like a game . you can upgrade your character and learn new skills . sure its harder to earn em , and i doesnt always looks as cool as in game , but its much more rewarding . go outside and live man , a lot of handicapped people wish they have your luck to be healthy and have every options open in front of you .

  • played for 20days straight?? thats gotta be a world record for staying awake the longest and playing a computer longest

  • i play a online game i wont mention from 10 in morning to 12 at night

  • Mention it

  • Ever since I had quit gaming due to the fear of it happening to me, I have made a myspace page dedicated to those that are addicted and in need of help. Anyone who wants some help can look at my profile and myspace if they want. Feel free to contribute too.

Btw, I know i am being an ass by advertising on a comments page which I shouldn't be but I feel this is the only way to spread the word on a wider scale, so sorry to the person who put this video on youtube and to everyone else here.

  • This problem with video game addiction will only heighten as our technoloy strengthens, leading to more and more cases of people who have, in a nut shell, handed in their real lives for a part - a life if you will - inside a rapidly expanding, intricate social alternate reality we have created for ourselves that, at times, provides more fun and thrill than the 'real' world we live in.

  • i play runescape like 4 hours each day

  • RUNESCAPE SUCKS

  • 10 hours a week?

    that's nothing!

  • I play that much on Saturday!

  • Well it depends on how well you can tolerate it.

Some people can just keep playing for hours on end without a care in the world, while others can only play for a shorter amount of time before their grades/work/social life is affected by this.

Needless to say, everyone is different on how much each individual can take.

  • agreed i normally play 18 hrs a day or 16

  • I played ones 34h straight in Starcraft with snacs and coffee....

there is no point in interviewing people who play 10h/week. They are not addicted. They don't know anyhing.

Sometimes u can't stop. U just don't care. And how can u stop if u r so good at the game u play?

  • Pleae get help for your own sake. Some StarCraft addict died from playing too much after 50 hours.

  • was his name Lee Seung Seop? ^^

  • I'm actually doing a research study on video game addiction in adolescents. Cheers. Hopefully I find significant enough results~

  • well for the video maker, maybe if u did actually talk to people that are addicted and to people that a specialist in curing addicting behavior, maybe then u could say its a documentary.

  • any kind of excess is a bad thing, ive heard in the news a few years ago of a guy playing everquest, and he had a therapy and he was forced to get all his comps out of the house and not aproarch any for few months after they he was allowed access again, eventually he went in his appartment alone and started playing again one day his parents after not having heard of him in 4 days call police, they entered the appartment and found him dead , he shot himself in the head....

  • ... and they said the appartment was full of garbage , fast food everywhere even on the floor, they said it was a complete trashhole that he was living in, they also said that his computer was online on everquest and that his character that he played was very high lvl and that when his character died it was too much for him to handle, (looked like the guy was playing a harcore mode and died after playing a whole month without going out, basicaly he kill himself cause his character died.

  • I heard of people diying becouse they played to much, and other players killed each other for different reasons, but I never heard of cuicide becouse of charecters death... This is maddnes -- NO, THIS IS VIDEO GAME ADDICTION...

  • No, its morons who can't control themselves are the ones who get addicted.

You can get addicted to ANYTHING on this planet. Millions of people are addicted to television and they don't even know it.

Millions of people are addicted to meth, crack, prescription drugs, cars/vehicles, shopping, stealing, killing, sex... you can seriously get addicted to anything...

  • yeah this is true, i'm a sex addict!! :D .. i cant just seem to control myself when a girl is next to me .......

  • As for the child that soffocated because of his parents that could happen to anyone who took anyone did do something for a quatity equal to that much

  • I do not believe in video game addiction.

However, I do beleive that some people live their lives whithout a sense of accomplishment. These games give them a sense of acomplishment and that is why they play. I don't agree or disagree that this is necesarily a bad thing, but I do agree that people can take anything too far.

  • and i think that you are right on that

  • Wow such an addiction 10 hours a week, that's like 1.42 hours a day or so. o_O
