  • hi can you use green wood to make carcoal ..

  • Did you also seal off the air vent at the bottom of the barrel after the three first hours?

  • I have done it with a very large Dakoat hole and sealed it off with a sheet of tin and dirt, this seems a lot more effecient.

It was not worth my effort for blacksmithing my blades, this may be a bit better.

  • Great job! What wood have you used, did you fill it to the top. was it started with just paper and small pieces of wood, would a firelighter be ok to use?

  • Its definately much safer than the standard high pressure retort, but not near the volume, I wouldnt recommend it for blacksmiths like myself, but for everyone else like the home cook, firework maker, powder maker and standard guy whos bored, I would suggest this

  • "Well done you" indeed. Nice job and very good instructional video. Thumbs up.

  • just got my 55 gal. drum today. Cant wait to make me some charcoal.

  • I've just had a go, filled to the top with ash, burning for 2.5 hours before sealing the top.Very good results. Much easier than following the pit method.

  • Nice to see the end result. How full was the barrel when it was closed up? 5/5
