  • @Madsweeps Really? It's not hard to understand... I wouldn't have bothered explaining it had I not actually been able to do it in reality. I'm not a theorist in body mechanics. I''m not a big guy at all, but I've won fights because of throwing these kinds of punches. Oddly enough it really does work, so there are apparently some bodily mechanisms you're overlooking. Guess that's your problem. I'm really no worse or better off now than I was before you proved to be an arrogant dumbass.

  • Careful not to break the hand you are punching. The punch can be much more powerful than you

     think. For comparison, it's like turning the one-inch punch into a full punch.

  • To feel the difference, punch your other hand normally (fist clenched entire time). Now punch it, using the same upper arm strength, but do what I suggested. You want the hand to FINISH clenching and straightening as close to impact as possible. Now which one feels like it would hurt more? Another practical use for this is that you don't have to use as much upper arm and body strength to generate an impact punch that has the same impact force.

  • cont: Once that happens, simultaneously clench your fist and snap your hand back to its straight position in line with the forearm as fast as you can. This must all be done before you strike the target. The force generated by this action will propel your arm to a higher speed than normal, and the faster and harder you can do this, the more devastating the punch is. This is not a very safe way to punch, though. If you mess it up, you could injure your wrist and hand quite a bit.

  • If you can build up your forearm strength, you can throw a punch that (at its ideal point of impact) is faster than a snake's strike. Throwing normal punches, the maximum speed is really only up to the speed of a snake strike, and that's the fastest of the fast with NORMAL punches. Try this: Do not start to clench your fist until you BEGIN to punch. In fact, keep it limp, keep it open. As you punch, your limp hand will naturally bend down....

  • you're definitely a really intelligent person with proper understanding of mechanics and exercise, but it occurred to me that you also look like a person lacking actual combat experience.

    i can see this from the look of your form and at times awkward and less efficient movements (lack of footwork, for one)

  • also with the push up i recomend doing close hand or fist going sideways you are goin to get the best results for your triceps like that because a standard wide arm push up mostly does the chest, but what you might not know is that the chest actually provides alot of the power in a punch because if u also look at a bench press or the chest press all you are doing is lifting your arm from a bended motion and the chest has no movment added thus helping the power.

  • The punches with the weights is a good training to increase speed. The push up, I do not know. I prefer the bench with big load, at fast push , 2x6 - 2x8 90sec.Check my video, speed punch 2 .mp4.

It will not only help your snap but increase your ability to knock out on the first punch! If you dont have weights. try flexing and punching this will increase your power. check out my vids.   • And when u do push-ups to train speed. U should do one by one and always push your-self up from the ground so u get that speed. If u just do them fast u again pumping blood to the muscle and making it bigger.   • First of all. U left the most important thing away when u do this kinda thing. NEVER EXTEND YOUR ARM FULLY OR U DO SOME REAL DMG TO YOUR BODY. And also when u do weight training to increase speed with typical repeats. U do them with very little weight and u almost like rip the weight up. U must be lighting fast or u will just pump blood into the muscle fast and it become bigger and u lose speed more than u gain or u gain much less than u could.

    like to add a bit, diff push ups train diff part o ur chest n arm. Place arms futhur appart wil work mo o chest. For tricep, can try foldin ur arms to the side of ur shoulder. Beginers shud start simple, slow and steady. Dont rush

    I like all the tips and I've only done the clap push ups before and a few of the punches with weights. this was very helpful I will try training those other punches with weights now.

  • I am a firm beleive that technique leads to power, which leads to speed. First learn the punch with perfect technique, know everything about it and practice it often focusing on technique, not speed or power. I never punch with weights but its proven that weights between 1-3lbs do increase speed and power. Depends on what kind of punch your doing, but for boxing punches, the power actually comes from the abdominal muscles, not the shoulder, but wing chun, karate, wushu punches are shoulder ones.
