I miss Martha and wish she would get her own spinoff show!
I wanted her back on Doctor Who but the Doctor treats her like dirt. I'd prefer it if she had her own show keeping the character of Martha, but excluding the Doctor. It will be kind of like how the Doctor was never on Torchwood.
Martha was the best companion and the others in my opinion pale in comparison. She was prettier, smarter, and more fun. This is my opinion but I do believe she was the best for him.
I don't think you can fault either the Doctor or Martha for their rocky relationship. She was dazzled by him, though you can hardly say he was leading her on, when his testimony to Donna suggests he didn't want her to have a thing for him. It just happened and he cared about her, quite a lot, but not in the way she wanted. And when you get right down to it, the Doctor fails with women. He very rarely knows what to do, because he's incredibly scared of hurting them or himself.
@3000agape Of course he was. He wouldn't have been so cold to her if it wasn't such a struggle not to like her. He can't find a happy medium! It's either completely flirting with her or acting like she's an annoyance, usually in that order. It's like he's actively trying not to get attached to her, but he can't help himself.
@jgkdmk Thank God someone gets it!!! You need to say word from word what you just said to Rose!fans. I love Rose, but they just can't understand that the Doctor did LOVE Martha or at the very least had strong feelings for her. I adore Martha and I am not a Doctor/Martha shipper, but even I know that the loved her or atleast could have fallen in love with her(if she didn't leave).
I think it was more he felt guilty about what happen to her family because of her association with him; and she was maltreated by others as well as him in 1913 because of a choice he made; The Martha period ended differently that it began. The first episodes seemed like the Doctor was attracted to Martha but afraid to get invovled, and he could see Martha had a vocation and life she loved on Earth. He wasn't taking Rose away from anything Rose wanted, but it was different with Martha.
wen he's alone in the tardis it's so clear he's missin martha. but damn that rusty cos he keeps on underminin martha. n after just 4 trips donna gets a thnk u wen she hadn't even saved his life as martha had done by the first 3 episodes. god, the storylines 4 martha's character weren't that good cos again she was overshadowed by rose, who frankly was a child in season 2.but still MJ is AWESOME!!
Why should we feel sorry for the Doctor, he made his choice didn't he? He could have gone after Martha and said at least "I care about you", or something. Martha saves the world and the universe and him from the cage the Master put him in and when she says she leaving him basically because he's playing games with her emotions, the Doc just stands there and says little to nothing, but now he's sad because he's alone. My sympathies are with the actress who is being jerked around by the show.
Well the BBC cut their noses off to spite their faces didn't they because Torchwood really needs the Martha character. They couldn't be supportive and happy for Freema, regarding her new gig, as they should have been as it was the show's decision, not Freema's to make the Martha character so un-important to the show (this after carrying Series 3, and the her episodes in Series 4), that any actress would have done the same thing given the opportunity. I wish Freema the best acting career ever.
He was a cad, and I think he knew it. I think he liked that she liked him, but he knew she couldn't stay' medical school, family... Maybe he was afraid to get too close.... I don't think he realized he was hurting her until Jack showed up though.
Love Donna's comment that loving the Doctor is a bit mad.
martha is a beter idol 4 tennage girls coz she used her brain to stop The Master killing her (& jacks teleport). all rose would have done was bat her eyelids.
its sad at the start coz u understand that he finds it harder to adjust after martyha because she chose to walk away than be killed or impriosned in another univerese. he had no choice over rose.
how cocky is he trin 2 be in the "She fancied me bit". he needs lessonds 4m cpat. jack!!
