Brad is the man. He gets better as he gets older. I bought his deadlift DVD and play it before and during trainig. He shows it can be done drug free, which I am, and is an inspiration for all. Thanks Brad. Edge
This is why I use hook grip. May not lift so much weigth but still less rather to have bicep injury and my arms won't grow unevenly. And he is an awesome man.
why is every1 saying hook grip is stronger...it isn't...it's better for slipping, which usually isn't a problem in the deadlift cuz velocity is low, and you can still hold the bar with your fingers...in olympic lifting, the bar cant slip at all cuz a lot of the bar's velocity would go down...of course velocity doesnt matter in powerlifting...that being said...this is a very impressive lift
he is a very down-to-earth kinda guy.....really soft-spoken and humble...i was very honored to have met him two days ago during the world games in taiwan. too bad he didnt do well enough to keep the bronze.
Brad's a friend. He stands almost 6'5 and weighs between 320 and 340, depending. He is one of the greats of powerlifting and, as someone else said, a heck of a nice guy.
Hook grip is stronger than alternate grip if you can stand the pain of 390kg pulling your thumbs.
There's a vid of a Russian olympic lifter, Misha Koklyaev doing 390kg x3 with hook grip, no straps no suit, oly shoes. Best deadlift vid I've seen, search for Koklyaev to see it (vid is called 'deathlift' 390 haha).
woah, how do you lift that much with that grip!?! how do you lift that much full stop! that's amazing! haha i think the guy in the white t-shirt was thinking the same thing
this guy is a fucking walking mountain he weights almost 400pd?!!!!

Now THAT'S a deadlift. And double-overhand, too. Guy's a pulling machine. No drugs ... all hard work.

Double overhand eh? Wonder if he has an olympic weightlifting background or something, don't see that grip very often.
dend027 2 years ago
@dend027 tore a bicep tendon or something so he lifts like that now. phenomenal grip strength

I switched to hook recently. Once your thumbs adapt, stand the hell by. Because grip gets stronger much faster from there.

About Big Brad's height. I have found sources saying that he is 6'4" and others saying that he is 6'5".
bighankkreator 3 years ago
Some say 6'3". He's tall, but strong as shit. At that height you have to be 290+ to do extremely well in strength sports.

You can do double overhand with a hook grip- look up hook grip in google, I think you misunderstand what we're saying.
